Disconnecttheappliance—Disconnecttheappliancefromthe powersupplywhennotinuse,beforeservicing,orwhenchanging accessories.

Training

Read,understand,andfollowallinstructionsontheappliance

Preparation

Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheapplianceistobe
usedandremovealldoormats,sleds,boards,wires,and otherforeignobjects.
Donotoperatetheappliancewithoutwearingadequatewinter
garments.Avoidloosettingclothingthatcangetcaughtin movingparts.Wearfootwearthatwillimprovefootingon slipperysurfaces.
Donotattempttoclearsnowfromagravelorcrushedrock
surface.Thisapplianceisintendedforuseonlyonpaved surfaces.
Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhilethemotor
isrunning(exceptwhenspecicallyrecommendedby manufacturer).
Alwayswearsafetyglassesoreyeshieldsduringoperationor
whileperforminganadjustmentorrepairtoprotecteyesfrom foreignobjectsthatmaybethrownfromtheappliance.
Lookbehindandusecarewhenbackingupwiththe
appliance.
Disengagepowertotherotorbladeswhentheapplianceis
transportedornotinuse.
Neveroperatetheappliancewithoutgoodvisibilityorlight.
Alwaysbesureofyourfooting,andkeeparmholdonthe handles.Walk;neverrun.

ClearingaCloggedDischarge Chute

Handcontactwiththerotatingrotorbladesinsidethedischarge chuteisthemostcommoncauseofinjuryassociatedwith snowthrowers.Neveruseyourhandtocleanoutthedischarge chute.
Toclearthechute:
Shutthemotoroff!
Wait10secondstobesuretherotorbladeshavestopped
rotating.
Alwaysuseaclean-outtool,notyourhands.

MaintenanceandStorage

Checkallfastenersatfrequentintervalsforpropertightness
tobesuretheequipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
AlwaysrefertothisOperator’sManualforimportantdetailsif
theapplianceistobestoredforanextendedperiod.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,as
necessary.
Runtheapplianceafewminutesafterthrowingsnowto
preventfreeze-upoftherotorblades.

Operation

Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keep
clearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonorcrossing
graveldrives,walks,orroads.Stayalertforhiddenhazards ortrafc.
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stopthemotor,removethe
ignitionkey ,thoroughlyinspecttheapplianceforanydamage, andrepairthedamagebeforerestartingandoperatingthe appliance.
Iftheunitshouldstarttovibrateabnormally ,stopthemotor
andcheckimmediatelyforthecause.Vibrationisgenerallya warningoftrouble.
Stopthemotorwheneveryouleavetheoperatingposition,
beforeuncloggingtherotorbladehousingordischargechute, andwhenmakinganyrepairs,adjustmentsorinspections.
Whencleaning,repairing,orinspectingtheappliance,stop
themotorandensurethattherotorbladesandallmoving partshavestopped.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonslopes.
Neveroperatetheappliancewithoutproperguardsandother
safetyprotectivedevicesinplaceandworking.
Neverdirectthedischargetowardpeopleorareaswhere
propertydamagecanoccur.Keepchildrenandothersaway .
Donotoverloadthecapacityoftheappliancebyattemptingto
clearsnowattoofastarate.

ConnectingtoaPowerSource

Toreducetheriskofelectricshock,thisappliancehasa polarizedplug(i.e.,onebladeiswiderthantheother).Useonly apolarizedplug,UL-listed(CSAcertiedinCanada)extension cordrecommendedforoutdooruse.Apolarizedplugwilltina polarizedcordonlyoneway .Iftheplugdoesnottfullyinthe cord,reversethecord.Ifitstilldoesnott,purchaseapolarized extensioncord.Ifyouhaveapolarizedextensioncordandthe extensioncordplugdoesnottfullyintothewallreceptacle, reversetheplug.Ifitstilldoesnott,contactaqualiedelectrician toinstalltheproperoutlet.Donotchangetheapplianceor extensioncordpluginanyway.

StartingandStopping

TostartthePowerShovel,pushthebuttononthesideofthe handlegripandsqueezethetrigger.Tostoptheproduct,release thetrigger.

OperatingTips
StartthePowerShovelandtiltitforwarduntilthescraper
bladecontactstheground.PushthePowerShovelforward atacomfortablerateofspeed,yetslowenoughtoclearthe pathcompletely .Thewidthanddepthofthesnowdetermines yourforwardspeed.
DirectthesnowtotherightortotheleftbyholdingthePower
Shovelataslightangle.
Forthemostefcientsnowremoval,throwthesnow
downwind,andslightlyoverlapeachswath.
Ifyouneedtoclearsnowfromcrushedrockorgravel,push
downonthehandletoraisethescraperclearofloosematerial thattherotorbladescouldthrow.
ThePowerShovelcanremovesnowupto6in.(15cm)deep
inonepass.Whenclearingdeeperdrifts,holdthePower Shovelbytheupperandlowerhandlesanduseaswingingor sweepingmotion.Removeamaximumof6inches(15cm) witheachpassandrepeatasmanytimesasrequired.
Keepthecordclearofobstructions,sharpobjects,androtor.
Donotpullsharplyonthecordorabuseitinanymanner. Frequentlyinspectthecordfordamage.Ifitisdamaged, replacethecord.
DisconnecttheextensioncordafterusingthePowerShovel.
HangtheextensioncordwiththePowerShovelsoitwillnot bemisplacedordamaged.
WARNING
Iftheextensioncordispluggedintoproduct,someone couldaccidentallyoperateitwhileyouareperforming maintenanceonit,causingseriouspersonalinjury.
Disconnecttheextensioncordbeforeyouperformany maintenance.

ReplacingtheRotor

1.Usea9/16-inchwrenchtoremovetheboltonthesideof thehousing.

3.Installthenewrotorinthehousingbyinsertingtheendof therotorontothettedendinthehousingandrotatingthe rotoruntilitsnapsintoposition.

LubricatingthePowerShovel

ThePowerShoveldoesnotneedlubrication;allbearingsare lubricatedatthefactoryforthelifeoftheproduct.
