Extensioncords—T opreventdisconnectionofappliancecordfrom theextensioncordduringoperation,connecttheextensioncordto theproductasshownonpage4.
Avoidaccidentalstarting—Don’tcarrythesnowthrowerwithyour ngerontheswitch.Besureswitchisoffwhenpluggingin.
Ifcordisdamagedinanymannerwhilepluggedin,pullextensioncord fromwallreceptacle.
Don’tabusecord—Nevercarrysnowthrowerbycordoryankitto disconnectfromreceptacle.Keepcordfromheat,oil,andsharpedges. (Doesnotapplytobattery-operatedsnowthrowers.)
Keephandsawayfrommovingparts.
Keepguardsinplaceandinworkingorder.

Ifthesnowthrowerstrikesaforeignobject,followthesesteps:
Stopthesnowthrower.
Inspectfordamage.
Repairanydamagebeforerestartingandoperatingthe
snowthrower.
Disconnectsnowthrower—Disconnectthesnowthrowerfromthe powersupplywhennotinuse,beforeservicing,whenchanging accessories,andthelike.
Storeidlesnowthrowersindoors—Whennotinuse,snowthrowers shouldbestoredindoorsindry,lockedplace—outofreachofchildren.
Maintainsnowthrowerswithcare—Followinstructionsforlubricating andchangingaccessories.
ThissnowthrowermeetsorexceedstheB71.3specicationsof theAmericanNationalStandardsInstituteineffectatthetime ofproduction.
Readandunderstandthecontentsofthismanualbeforeyoustart themotor.

Preparation
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeused
andremovealldoormats,sleds,boards,wires,andotherforeign objects.
Donotoperatetheequipmentwithoutwearingadequatewinter
garments.Avoidloosettingclothingthatcangetcaughtinmoving parts.Wearfootwearthatwillimprovefootingonslipperysurfaces.
Donotattempttoclearsnowfromagravelorcrushedrocksurface.
Thisproductisintendedforuseonlyonpavedsurfaces.
Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhilethemotorisrunning
(exceptwhenspecicallyrecommendedbymanufacturer).
Alwayswearsafetyglassesoreyeshieldsduringoperationor
whileperforminganadjustmentorrepairtoprotecteyesfrom foreignobjectsthatmaybethrownfromthemachine.
Operation
Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keepclear
ofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonorcrossinggravel
drives,walks,orroads.Stayalertforhiddenhazardsortrafc.
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stopthemotor,removetheignition
key,thoroughlyinspectthesnowthrowerforanydamage,and repairthedamagebeforerestartingandoperatingthesnow thrower.
Iftheunitshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,stopthemotorand
checkimmediatelyforthecause.Vibrationisgenerallyawarning oftrouble.
Stopthemotorwheneveryouleavetheoperatingposition,before
uncloggingtherotorbladehousingordischargechute,andwhen makinganyrepairs,adjustmentsorinspections.
Whencleaning,repairing,orinspectingthesnowthrower,stop
themotorandmakecertainthattherotorbladesandallmoving partshavestopped.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonslopes.
Neveroperatethesnowthrowerwithoutproperguardsandother
safetyprotectivedevicesinplaceandworking.
Neverdirectthedischargetowardpeopleorareaswhereproperty
damagecanoccur.Keepchildrenandothersaway.
Donotoverloadthemachinecapacitybyattemptingtoclearsnow
attoofastarate.
Lookbehindandusecarewhenbackingupwiththesnowthrower.
Disengagepowertotherotorbladeswhensnowthroweris
transportedornotinuse.

Checkallfastenersatfrequentintervalsforpropertightnesstobe
suretheequipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
AlwaysrefertotheOperator’sManualforimportantdetailsifthe
snowthroweristobestoredforanextendedperiod.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,asnecessary.
Runthemachineafewminutesafterthrowingsnowtoprevent
freeze-upoftherotorblades.

Handcontactwiththerotatingrotorbladesinsidethedischargechute isthemostcommoncauseofinjuryassociatedwithsnowthrowers. Neveruseyourhandtocleanoutthedischargechute.

Operation
Important:Thissnowthrowerisintendedforoutdoor,residential useonly.donotuseitindoorsorforcommercialorindustrial purposes.
ConnectingtoaPowerSource
Toreducetheriskofelectricshock,thisappliancehasapolarized plug(i.e.,onebladeiswiderthantheother).Useonlyapolarized plug,UL-listed(CSAcertiedinCanada)extensioncordrecommended foroutdooruse.Apolarizedplugwilltinapolarizedcordonlyone way.Iftheplugdoesnottfullyinthecord,reversethecord.Ifit stilldoesnott,purchaseapolarizedextensioncord.Ifyouhavea polarizedextensioncordandtheextensioncordplugdoesnottfully intothewallreceptacle,reversetheplug.Ifitstilldoesnott,contact aqualiedelectriciantoinstalltheproperoutlet.Donotchangethe applianceorextensioncordpluginanyway.
Useonlyanextensioncordrecommendedforoutdooruse.
3.Connecttheextensioncordtotheapplianceelectricalcord.
4.Plugtheextensioncordintoawalloutlet.
5.Keeptheareatobeclearedfreeofstones,toys,orotherforeign objectswhichtherotorbladesmaypickupandthrow.Suchitems couldbecoveredbysnowfallandremainunnoticed.

orwhilestandinginwater.
Useonlyanextensioncordrecommendedforoutdoor
cold-weatheruse.

OperatingTips
StartthePowerShovelandtiltitforwarduntilthescraperblade
contactstheground.PushthePowerShovelforwardata comfortablerateofspeed,yetslowenoughtoclearthepath completely.Thewidthanddepthofthesnowdeterminesyour forwardspeed.
DirectthesnowtotherightortotheleftbyholdingthePower
Shovelataslightangle.
Forthemostefcientsnowremoval,throwthesnowdownwind,
andslightlyoverlapeachswath.
Ifyouneedtoclearsnowfromcrushedrockorgravel,pushdown
onthehandletoraisethescraperclearofloosematerialthatthe rotorbladescouldthrow.
ThePowerShovelcanremovesnowupto6in.(15cm)deepin
onepass.Whenclearingdeeperdrifts,holdthePowerShovel bytheupperandlowerhandlesanduseaswingingorsweeping motion.Removeamaximumof6inches(15cm)witheachpass andrepeatasmanytimesasrequired.
Keepthecordclearofobstructions,sharpobjects,androtor.Do
notpullsharplyonthecordorabuseitinanymanner.Frequently inspectthecordfordamage.Ifitisdamaged,replacethecord.
DisconnecttheextensioncordafterusingthePowerShovel.
HangtheextensioncordwiththePowerShovelsoitwillnotbe misplacedordamaged.
Note:Thishelpstopreventyoufromaccidentlydisconnectingthe extensioncordfromtheapplianceduringoperation.
