DieselParticulateFilter Regeneration

Thedieselparticulatelter(DPF)ispartoftheexhaust system.Thediesel-oxidationcatalystoftheDPF reducesharmfulgassesandthesootlterremoves sootfromtheengineexhaust.
TheDPFregenerationprocessusesheatfromthe engineexhausttoincineratethesootaccumulatedon thesootlter,convertingthesoottoash,andclears thechannelsofthesootltersothatlteredengine exhaustowsouttheDPF .
Theenginecomputermonitorstheaccumulationof sootbymeasuringthebackpressureintheDPF .If thebackpressureistoohigh,sootisnotincinerating inthesootlterthroughnormalengineoperation.T o keeptheDPFclearofsoot,rememberthefollowing:

Understandingthe OperatingCharacteristics oftheMachine

Practicedrivingthemachinebecauseithasa hydrostatictransmissionanditscharacteristicsare differentthanmanyturfmaintenancemachines. Somepointstoconsiderwhenoperatingthemachine andmowerdecksarethetransmission,enginespeed, loadonthecuttingbladesandtheimportanceofthe brakes.

Operatingthe Engine-CoolingFan

Theenginecoolingfanisnormallycontrolledbythe machine.Themachinehastheabilitytoreverse thefantoblowdebrisofftherearscreen.Under normaloperatingconditions,themachinecontrols thefanspeedanddirectionbasedoncoolantand hydraulic-uidtemperature,andthefanautomatically reversesdirectiontoblowdebrisofftherearscreen. Areversecycleisautomaticallyinitiatedwheneither thecoolantorhydraulic-uidtemperaturereachesa specictemperature.
Youcanmanuallyreversethefanbypressingthe2 outerbuttonsoftheInfoCenterfor2seconds—thefan completesamanuallyinitiatedreversecycle.Reverse thefanwhentherearscreeniscloggedorpriorto movingthemachineintotheshoporastoragearea.
WithT oroSmartPower™,theoperatordoesnothave tolistentotheenginespeedinheavyconditions. SmartPowerpreventsboggingdowninheavyturf byautomaticallycontrollingthemachinespeedand optimizingcuttingperformance.
Anothercharacteristictoconsideristheoperation ofthepedalsthatareconnectedtothebrakes.The brakescanbeusedtoassistinturningthemachine. However,usethemcarefully ,especiallyonsoftor wetgrassbecausetheturfmaybetornaccidentally. Anotherbenetofthebrakesistomaintaintraction. Forexample,insomeslopeconditions,theuphill wheelslipsandlosestraction.Ifthissituation occurs,depresstheuphillturnpedalgraduallyand intermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheelstopsslipping,thus, increasingtractiononthedownhillwheel.
Useextracarewhenoperatingthemachineon slopes.Makesurethattheseatlatchisproperly securedandtheseatbeltisbuckled.Driveslowlyand avoidsharpturnsonslopestopreventrollovers.For steeringcontrol,themowerdecksmustbelowered whengoingdownhill.
Important:Allowenginetoidlefor5minutes

UnderstandingTurnaround
Turnaroundmodeallowstheoperatorconvenient, 1-touchcontroltoraisethedecksabovetheturfwhile temporarilystoppingtheblades,allowingtheoperator tofocusonmaneuveringthemachineattheendofa mowingpass,orwhilenavigatingotherobstacles.
WhenTurnaroundmodeissettoON,momentarily pressingtheliftswitchrearward(Figure10) automaticallyraisesallmowerdecksfromtheoat positiontoapresetheightanddisengagestheblades. Toresumemowing,presstheliftswitchforward.All mowerdeckslower,andthebladesstartagain.
WhenTurnaroundmodeissettoOFF,youcan manuallyraisethedecksfromtheoatpositionby pressingandholdingallliftswitchesrearwarduntilthe decksraisetothedesiredheight.ForGroundsmaster 4700machines,pressall3liftswitchestoraiseall 7mowerdecks(Figure10).Themowerbladesdo notdisengageuntilthemowerdecksraisetothe samepresetheighttowhichthedecksraisewhen TurnaroundmodeissettoON.
Thedefault,recommendedsettingforthisfeatureis ON.
Asharpbladecutscleanlyandwithouttearingor shreddingthegrassbladeslikeadullblade.Tearing andshreddingcausesthegrasstoturnbrownat theedges,whichimpairsgrowthandincreases susceptibilitytodiseases.Ensurethatthebladeisin goodconditionandthatthereisafullsail.

InspectingandSharpening theMowerBlade(s)

Twoareasmustbeconsideredwhencheckingand servicingthemowerblade—thesailandthecutting edge.Bothcuttingedgesandthesail,whichis theturned-upportionoppositeofthecuttingedge, contributetoagoodqualityofcut.Thesailis importantbecauseitliftsthegrassupstraight,thereby producinganevencut.However,thesailgradually wearsdownduringoperation.Asthesailwears down,thequalityofcutdegrades,althoughthecutting edgesaresharp.Thecuttingedgeoftheblademust besharpsothatthegrassiscutratherthantorn.A dullcuttingedgeisevidentwhenthetipsofthegrass appearbrownandshredded.Sharpenthecutting edgestocorrectthiscondition.
