GeneralOperation

Read,understand,andfollowallinstructionson
themachineandinthemanual(s)beforestarting.
Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderthe
machine.
Onlyallowresponsibleadults,whoarefamiliar
withtheinstructions,tooperatethismachine.
Keepinmindthattheoperatororuseris
responsibleforaccidentsorhazardsoccurringto otherpeopleortheirproperty.
Cleartheareaofobjectssuchasrocks,wire,toys,
etc.,whichcouldbethrownbythebladeorcutting line.Staybehindthehandlewhentheengineis running.
Besuretheareaisclearofbystandersbefore
operating.Stopmachineifanyoneentersthearea.
Donotoperatemachinebarefootedorwhile
wearingsandals.Alwayswearsubstantial, slip-resistantfootwearandlongpants.
Donotpullmachinebackwardunlessabsolutely
necessary.Alwayslookdownandbehindbefore andwhilemovingbackward.
Neverdirectdischargedmaterialtowardanyone.
Avoiddischargingmaterialagainstawallor obstruction.Materialmayricochetbacktoward theoperator.
Stoptheengineofthemachinewhencrossing
surfacesotherthangrass,andwhentransporting themachinetoandfromtheareatobecut.
Stoptheblade(s)ifthemachinehastobetiltedfor
transportationwhencrossingsurfacesotherthan grass,andwhentransportingthemachinetoand fromtheareatobemowed.
Donotoperatemachinewithoutthesafety
protectivedevicesinplaceandworking.
Neverleavearunningmachineunattended.
Stoptheengine,waituntilthebladecomestoa
completestop,anddisconnectthesparkplugwire beforecleaningoruncloggingthemachine.
Operatemachineonlyindaylightorgoodarticial
light.
Donotoperatemachinewhileundertheinuence
ofalcoholordrugs.

Neveroperatemachineinwetgrass.Alwaysbe
sureofyourfooting;walk;neverrun.
Ifthemachineshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,
stoptheengineandcheckforthecause immediately.Vibrationisgenerallyawarningof trouble.
Alwaysweareyeprotectionwhenoperating
machine.
Seemanufacturer'sinstructionsforproper
operationandinstallationofaccessories.Onlyuse accessoriesapprovedbythemanufacturer.

SlopeOperation

Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtoslipandfall accidents,whichcanresultinsevereinjury.Operation onallslopesrequireextracaution.Ifyoufeeluneasy onaslope,donotmowit.
Mowacrossthefaceofslopes;neverupand
down.Exerciseextremecautionwhenchanging directiononslopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orother
hiddenobjects.Uneventerraincouldcauseaslip andfallaccident.Tallgrasscanhideobstacles.
Donotmowonwetgrassorexcessivelysteep
slopes.Poorfootingcouldcauseaslipandfall accident.
Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditches,or
embankments.Y oucouldloseyourfootingor balance.
Whenusingthemachine,alwayskeepbothhands
onthehandlebar.
Whencuttingsteepslopesfromthetopofthe
slopeandalongerreachisneeded,nevertiethe machinetoarope,usetheextendedhandlebar kitoption.

Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremelyammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
Useonlyanapprovedgasolinecontainer.
Neverremovegascaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchas onawaterheateroronotherappliances.
Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck
ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace containersonthegroundawayfromyourvehicle beforelling.
Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthetruck
ortrailerandrefuelitontheground.Ifthisis notpossible,thenrefuelsuchequipmentwitha portablecontainer,ratherthanfromagasoline dispensernozzle.
Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel
tankorcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfueling iscomplete.Donotuseanozzlelock-opendevice.
Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing
immediately.
Neveroverllfueltank.Replacegascapand
tightensecurely.
WARNING
Exhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,an odorless,deadlypoisonthatcankillyou.
Donotruntheengineindoorsorinan enclosedarea.
Tragicaccidentscanoccuriftheoperatorisnot alerttothepresenceofchildren.Childrenareoften attractedtothemachineandthemowingactivity. Neverassumethatchildrenwillremainwhereyou lastsawthem.
Keepchildrenoutofthemowingareaandunder
thewatchfulcareofaresponsibleadultotherthan theoperator.
Bealertandturnmachineoffifachildentersthe
area.
Neverallowchildrentooperatethemachine.
Useextracarewhenapproachingblindcorners,
shrubs,trees,orotherobjectsthatmayblockyour viewofachild.

Neveroperatemachineinaclosedarea.
Keepallnutsandboltstighttobesurethe
equipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir
properoperationregularly .
Keepmachinefreeofgrass,leaves,orother
debrisbuild-up.Cleanupoilorfuelspillageand removeanyfuel-soakeddebris.Allowmachineto coolbeforestoring.
Ifyoustrikeaforeignobject,stopandinspectthe
machine.Repair,ifnecessary,beforestarting.
Nevermakeanyadjustmentsorrepairswiththe
enginerunning.Disconnectthesparkplugwire

andgroundagainstenginetopreventunintended starting.
Machinebladesaresharp.Wrapthebladeor
weargloves,anduseextracautionwhenservicing them.
Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor
overspeedtheengine.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,
asnecessary .
Keepinmindthattheoperatororuseris
responsibleforaccidentsorhazardsoccurringto otherpeopleortheirproperty.
Ifgasolineisspilled,donotattempttostartthe
enginebutmovethemachineawayfromthe areaofspillageandavoidcreatinganysourceof ignitionuntilthegasolinevaporhasdissipated.
Replacefaultysilencers.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethat
theblades,bladeboltsandcutterassemblyare notwornordamaged.Replacewornordamaged bladesandboltsinsetstopreservebalance.
Neverpickuporcarryamachinewhiletheengine
isrunning.
Stoptheengineanddisconnectthesparkplug
wire,makesurethatallmovingpartshavecome toacompletestop:
–Beforeclearingblockages.
–Beforechecking,cleaning,orworkingonthe
machine.
–Afterstrikingaforeignobject.Inspectthe
machinefordamageandmakerepairsbefore restartingandoperatingthemachine.
Donottiltthemachinewhenstartingtheengine,
exceptifthemachinehastobetiltedforstarting. Inthiscasedonottiltitmorethanabsolutely necessaryandliftonlythepartwhichisawayfrom theoperator.
Examinethemachineregularlyandreplaceworn
ordamagedpartsforsafety.
Model02602only–Neverreplacethecuttingunit
withmetalpartsandonlyusecuttingheadsand cuttingelementswhicharesuitableforuseatthe operatingspeedofthemachine.
