orservicethemachine.Localregulationsmay restricttheageoftheoperator.
Operatingthismachineisstrenuous.Y oumustbe
ingoodphysicalconditionandmentallyalert.If youhaveanyconditionthatmightbeaggravated bystrenuouswork,checkwithyourdoctorbefore operatingthismachine.
Shutoffthemachineandwaitforallmovingparts
tostopbeforeyouleavetheoperator’sposition. Disconnectthespark-plugwire,keepitawayfrom theplugtopreventaccidentalstarting,andallow themachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,fueling, unclogging,servicing,cleaning,orstoringthe machine.
Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Checkthatallguardsandsafetydevicesarein
placeandfunctioningproperly.Donotoperatethe machineunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.
Knowhowtoshutofftheenginequickly.
Keepbystanders,especiallysmallchildren,and
petsoutoftheoperatingarea.
Thoroughlyinspecttheareawhereyouwilluse
themachineandremoveallobjectsthatcould interferewiththeoperationofthemachineorthat themachinecouldthrow.
Topreventastaticchargefromignitingthefuel,
removethemachinefromthetruckortrailerand refuelitontheground,awayfromallvehicles.If thisisnotpossible,placeaportablefuelcontainer ontheground,awayfromallvehicles,andllit; thenrefuelthemachinefromthefuelcontainer ratherthanfromafuel-dispensernozzle.
Keepthefuel-dispensernozzleincontactwith
therimofthefueltankorcontaineropeningat alltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.Donotusea nozzlelock-opendevice.
Ifyouspillfuelonyourclothing,changeyour
clothingimmediately.Donotattempttostartthe engine;movethemachineawayfromthespilland avoidcreatingasourceofignitionuntilthefuel vaporshavedissipated.
Ifyoumustdrainthefueltank,doitoutdoors.
Storefuelinanapprovedfuelcontainerandkeep
itoutofthereachofchildren.
Donotstorethemachinewithfuelinthefueltank

Keepbystandersoutoftheoperatingarea.Keep
smallchildrenoutoftheoperatingareaandunder thewatchfulcareofaresponsibleadultwhois notoperatingthemachine.Stopthemachineif anyoneentersthearea.
Beforeyoustarttheengine,ensurethatalldrives
areinneutralandyouareintheoperatingposition.
Operatethemachineonlyingoodvisibilityand
appropriateweatherconditions.Donotoperate themachinewhenthereistheriskoflightning.
Donotattempttoadjustthemachinewhilethe
engineisrunning.
Ifthemachinestrikesanobjectorstartstovibrate
abnormally,immediatelyshutofftheengine,wait forallmovingpartstostop,anddisconnectthe wirefromthesparkplugbeforeexaminingthe machinefordamage.Vibrationisoftenawarning signoftrouble.Makeallnecessaryrepairsbefore resumingoperation.
Donotoperatethemachineathightransport
speedsonhardorslipperysurfaces.
Alwaysbesureofyourfooting;keeparmholdon
thehandleandwalk,neverrun.
Bealert,slowdown,andusecautionwhen
makingturns.Lookbehindandtothesidebefore reversingdirection.
Donotoperatethemachineonsteepslopes.
Allowthemuferandengineareatocoolbefore
touchingthem.
Thetinesshouldnotrotatewhentheengineis
idling;iftheydorotate,contactyourAuthorized ServiceDealer.
Ifanobjectbecomeslodgedinthetines,shutoff
theengine,disconnectthewirefromthespark plug,andallowtheenginetocoolbeforeremoving theobject.
StartingtheEngine
1.Ensurethatthespark-plugwireisconnecttothe sparkplug.
Lookbehindanddownandusecarewhen
reversing.
Donotoverloadthemachinecapacityby
attemptingtoaeratetoodeepandattoofasta rate.
Donotpickuporcarrythemachinewhilethe
engineisrunning.
Exercisecautionandbesureofyourfooting,
especiallywhenbackingup,toavoidslippingor falling.
Becarefulwhenoperatingthemachineinhard
ground.Thetinescancatchinthegroundand propelthemachineforward.Ifthisoccurs,letgo ofthemachine;donottrytorestrainit.
Exerciseextremecautionwhencrossinggravel
surfaces.Stayalertforhiddenhazardsortrafc.
Donotleavearunningmachineunattended.
Shutofftheengineandwaitforallmovingparts
tostopbeforeyouleavetheoperator’sposition. Disconnectthespark-plugwire,keepitawayfrom theplugtopreventaccidentalstarting,andallow themachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,fueling, unclogging,servicing,cleaning,orstoringthe machine.
Operatetheengineonlyinwell-ventilatedareas.
Exhaustgasescontaincarbonmonoxide,whichis anodorless,deadlypoison.
Useonlyaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved

Toturnthemachine,moveslowlyandpressdown

5.IfyoumovedthethrottlecontroltotheCHOKE position,whentheenginestarts—movethe throttlecontroltowardtheFASTposition.
Note:Thethrottlesettinggovernsthemaximum
drivespeedofthemachine.
StoppingtheEngine
1.Releasethetractioncontrolhandle,andallow ittoreturntoNEUTRAL.
2.Movethethrottleleverallthewayrearwardto SLOWposition(Figure14).
Important:Donotmakeazeroturnwhenthe
tinesaredown.Turningwiththetinesdown willresultinturftearing.
Tostop,releasethecontrollever(Figure15).
