theoperator(s)ormechanic(s)cannotreadorunderstand theinformation,itistheowner’sresponsibilitytoexplain thismaterialtothem.
Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationoftheequipment,
operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.The
ownerisresponsiblefortrainingtheusers.
Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateorservice
theequipment.Localregulationsmayrestricttheageof theoperator.
Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsiblefor
accidentsorinjuriesoccurringtopeopleordamageto property.
Preparation
Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand
attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved bythemanufacturer.
Wearappropriateclothingincluding,substantial,
slip-resistantshoes,safetyglasses,andhearingprotection. Longhair,looseclothing,orjewelrymaygettangledin movingparts.
Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeusedand
removeallobjectssuchasrocks,toys,andwirewhichcan becontactedbythemachine.
Useextracarewhenhandlinggasolineandotherfuels.
Theyareammableandvaporsareexplosive.
Useonlyanapprovedcontainer.
Neverremovethegascaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
Allowtheenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
Donotsmoke.
Neverrefuelordrainthemachineindoors.
Checkthattheoperatorpresencecontrols,safetyswitches,
andshieldsareattachedandfunctioningproperly.Donot operateunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.

water.Wheelsdroppingoveredgescancauserollovers, whichmayresultinseriousinjuryordeath.
Donotoperateonslopeswhengrassiswet.Slippery
conditionsreducetractionandcouldcauseslidingand lossofcontrol.
Donotmakesuddenturnsorrapidspeedchanges.
Reducespeedanduseextremecautiononslopes.
Removeormarkobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,and
otherobjectsfromtheoperatingarea.Tallgrasscanhide obstacles.

Watchforditches,holes,rocks,dips,andrisesthatchange
theoperatingangle,asroughterraincouldoverturnthe machine.
Alwaysavoidsuddenstartingorstoppingonaslope.If
thetireslosetraction,disengagethebladesandproceed slowlyofftheslope.
MaintenanceandStorage
Stopthemachine,stoptheengine,waitforallmoving
partstostop,raisetheblades,anddisconnectthe spark-plugwirebeforeadjusting,cleaning,orrepairing.
Cleangrassanddebrisfromtheblades,drives,mufer,
andenginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuel spillage.
Lettheenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstorenear
ame.

Safetydecalsandinstructionsareeasilyvisibletotheoperatorandarelocatednearanyareaofpotential danger.Replaceanydecalthatisdamagedorlost.
Shutoffthefuelwhilestoringortransportingontrailers.

Beforestartingacoldengine,movethechokelever(Figure5) totheleft.Aftertheenginestarts,regulatethechoketokeep theenginerunningsmoothly .Assoonaspossible,movethe chokeleverallthewaytotheright.
Note:Awarmenginerequireslittleornochoking.
ThrottleLever
Thethrottlelever(Figure5)islocatedontheengineand controlstheenginespeed.Movingthethrottleleverrearward increasestheenginespeed,andmovingthethrottlelever forwarddecreasestheenginespeed.
EngineOn/OffSwitch
Theengineon/offswitch(Figure5)islocatedonthefront right-handsideoftheengine.Rotatetheswitchclockwiseto theOnpositionbeforestartingtheengine.Rotatetheswitch counterclockwisetotheOffpositiontostoptheengine.
FuelShutoffValve
Thefuelshutoffvalve(Figure5)islocatedontheengineand isusedtoshutoffthefuelwhenthemachinewillnotbeused forafewdays,duringtransporttoandfromthejobsite,and whenparkedinsideabuilding.
Rotateitdowntoopenitoruptocloseit.
Self-propelDriveBail
Theself-propeldrivebail(Figure6),locatedunderthehandle, controlstheforwardandreversemotionofthemachine.

Iftheengineisrunning,thebladeswillengagewhenyou squeezetheblade-controlbailtowardthehandle.

Blade-controlLock
Theblade-controllock(Figure6)islocatedontheleftsideof thehandle,nexttotheblade-controlbail.
Movingtheblade-controllockintothefullforwardposition allowstheblade-controlbailtobesqueezedagainstthe handle.
Whenyousqueezetheself-propeldrivebailisagainstthe handle,thegroundspeedofthemachinewillchangebased onthedistancebetweenthebailandthehandle.Whenyou releasethebail,themachinewillstopmoving.
Squeezingtheblade-controlbailagainstthehandleengages theblade.Releasingtheblade-controlbailautomatically disengagestheblade.Theblade-controllockwillresettolock theblade-controlbail.
Seeder-controlLever
Theseeder-controllever(Figure6)islocatedontheright handlebar.
Pushtheleverforwardtostarttheseedow,andpullit rearwardtostoptheseedow .
ParkingBrake
Settheparkingbrakewheneveryouleavethemachine unattendedandwhenperformingmaintenance.Toengage theparkingbrake,pullthebrakerodoutanddown,locking itintheoutposition.Todisengagethebrake,pullthebrake upuntilitsnapsbackintothemachine.
