Iftheappliancestrikesaforeignobject,followthesesteps:
Immediatelyreleasethecontrolbartostoptheappliance.
Unplugthepowercord.
Inspectfordamage.
Repairanydamagebeforestartingandoperatingthe
appliance.
Disconnecttheappliance—Disconnecttheappliancefromthe powersupplywhennotinuse,beforeservicing,whenchanging accessories,etc.

Operation
Donotputhandsorfeetnearorunderrotatingparts.Keep
clearofthedischargeopeningatalltimes.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonorcrossing
graveldrives,walks,orroads.Stayalertforhiddenhazards ortrafc.
Afterstrikingaforeignobject,stopthemotor,unplugthe
extensioncord,removethekey,andthoroughlyinspect theapplianceforanydamage.Repairanydamagebefore startingandoperatingtheappliance.
Iftheapplianceshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,stopthe
motorandcheckimmediatelyforthecause.Vibrationis generallyawarningoftrouble.
Stopthemotor,removethekey,andunplugtheappliance
wheneveryouleavetheoperatingposition,beforeunclogging therotorbladehousingordischargechute,andwhenmaking anyrepairs,adjustments,orinspections.
Whencleaning,repairing,orinspectingtheappliance,stop
themotor,removethekey,unplugtheappliance,andensure thattherotorbladesandallmovingpartshavestopped.

ClearingaCloggedDischarge Chute
Handcontactwiththerotatingrotorbladesinsidethedischarge chuteisthemostcommoncauseofinjuryassociatedwith snowthrowers.Neveruseyourhandtocleanoutthedischarge chute.
Toclearthechute:
Shutthemotoroff,removethekey,andunplugthe
extensioncordfromtheappliance!
Wait10secondstobesuretherotorbladeshavestopped
rotating.
Alwaysuseaclean-outtool,notyourhands.
MaintenanceandStorage
Checkallfastenersatfrequentintervalsforpropertightness
toensurethattheapplianceisinsafeworkingcondition.
AlwaysrefertothisOperator’sManualforimportantdetailsif
theapplianceistobestoredforanextendedperiod.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabelsasneeded.
Runtheapplianceforafewminutesafterthrowingsnowto

InstallingtheUpperHandle
1.Removethehandleknobs,ovalbolts,andcurvedwashers fromthelowerhandle.
2.Installtheupperhandletothelowerhandleoftheappliance withthehandleknobs,curvedwashers,andovalboltsas showninFigure1.

OperatingTips
WARNING

Alwayskeepchildrenandpetsawayfromtheareaof

Keeptheareatobeclearedfreeofstones,toys,orother
objectswhichtherotorbladescanthrow.Suchitemscould becoveredbysnowfallandgounnoticed.Iftheappliance strikesanobjectduringoperation,stoptheappliance,unplug theextensioncord,removetheobstruction,andcheckthe appliancefordamage.
Beginremovingsnowneartheelectricaloutletandwork
outward.Blowbackandforth,notawayfromandtowardthe outlet.
Whenturningattheendofaswath,stepoverthecordand
turntheappliance.
Alwaysoverlapeachswathanddischargethesnowdownwind
whenpossible.
WARNING
Whenusingthedischargechutehandle,never directthesnowdischargechuteattheoperatoror bystanders.Theappliancecanthrowobjectsand causeseriouspersonalinjury.
Whenusingthedischargechutehandle,always turnthedischargechuteintheoppositedirection fromwhereyouorbystandersarestanding.
Keeptheextensioncordclearofobstructions,sharpobjects,
andallmovingparts.Donotpullsharplyoncordorabuse itinanymanner.Inspecttheextensioncordfrequentlyfor damagethatmayresultinanelectricshock.Iftheextension cordisdamaged,replaceit.
Incoldandsnowyweatherconditions,somecontrolsand
movingpartsmayfreeze.Therefore,ifanycontrolbecomes difculttooperate,stopthemotor,disconnecttheextension
cord,andcheckforfrozenparts.Donotuseexcessiveforce whentryingtooperatefrozencontrols.Bringtheappliance indoorstothawfrozencontrolsbeforeoperatingit.
Whenoperatingtheappliance,keepthewheels1inch(2.5
cm)offthepavementbytippingtheapplianceforward.This helpspreventthesnowfrombuildinguponthewheels.
Afterclearingthesnow,letthemotorrunforafewminutes
sothatmovingpartsdonotfreeze.Thenshutoffthemotor, waitforallmovingpartstostop,andwipetheiceandsnow offtheappliance.Rotatethechutecrankseveraltimesto removeanysnow.
Maintenance
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesoftheappliancefrom
thenormaloperatingposition.
WARNING
Iftheextensioncordispluggedintotheappliance, someonecouldaccidentallyoperatetheappliance whileyouareperformingmaintenanceonit,causing seriouspersonalinjury.
Removethekeyanddisconnecttheextensioncord beforeyouperformanymaintenanceontheappliance.
LubricatingtheAppliance
Youdonotneedtolubricatetheappliance;allthebearingshave beenlubricatedatthefactoryforthelifeoftheappliance.
