Whilemaintenanceoradjustmentsarebeing made,someonecouldstarttheengine. Accidentalstartingoftheenginecould seriouslyinjureyouorotherbystanders.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitch, engageparkingbrake,andpullthewire(s) offthesparkplug(s)beforeyoudoany maintenance.Alsopushthewire(s)asideso itdoesnotaccidentallycontactthespark plug(s).

Checktheaircleanerdailyorbeforestartingthe engine.Checkforabuildupofdirtanddebrisaround theaircleanersystem.Keepthisareaclean.Also checkforlooseordamagedcomponents.Replaceall bentordamagedaircleanercomponents.
Note:Operatingtheenginewithlooseordamaged
aircleanercomponentscouldallowunlteredairinto theenginecausingprematurewearandfailure.

RemovingtheElements:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage thebladecontrolswitch,movethemotion controlleverstothebrakeposition,stopthe engine,removethekey,andwaituntilallmoving partsstopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
2.Cleanaroundtheaircleanercovertoprevent dirtfromgettingintotheengineandcausing damage.
3.Loosenclampsand,removethecover.Once takenoff,loosenandremovetheouterairlter element.Followedbytheinnerairlter.Remove theelementsasshowninFigure2.
