Installation Instructions
Note: Determine the left, right, front, and rear sides of the machine while seated in the operating position.
Note: This kit applies to machines with model number 220999999 and lower. If this machine is equipped with a brake and
tail light kit a new brake pedal is required (Part No. 108–7001–03).

Preparing the Machine
1. Park the machine on a level surface, turn the ignition
key to off and remove the key.
2. If you have a floor mat, remove it from around the
pedal assembly.
3. Remove fasteners securing the metal plate on the floor
surrounding the pedal assembly. Remove the panel and
retain all parts.
4. Raise the vehicle up. Refer to the Operator’s Manual
for more information.

Install the brake rod
3. Locate the brake equalizer plate and brake rod assembly
underneath the floor panel (Fig. 1).
4. Disconnect the spring from the brake rod and remove
the brake adjustment and lock nuts from the brake rod.
Note: Retain all parts and fasteners.
Removing the Brake Rod
1. Remove the cotter pin and washer securing the existing
brake rod to the pedal assembly. Discard the pin and
washer.
2. Remove the bent end of the brake rod from the brake
pedal assembly.

5. Remove the brake rod from the equalizer plate and slide
it out of the pedal box (Fig. 1). Discard the rod.

Installing the Brake Rod
Adjusting the Brake Pedal
1. Install the eyelet end of the brake rod into the pedal box
(Fig. 2) with the flush side toward the pedal.
2. Install the threaded end of the new brake rod into the
equalizer plate (Fig. 2).
3. Install the adjustment nut onto the brake rod and then
the jam nut.
Note: Keep the jam nut loose to allow for adjustment of the
adjustment nut.

Important The brake pedal must be adjusted after
installation of the machine to prevent excessive pedal travel
or binding of the brakes during normal operation. Refer to
the Operator’s Manual for more information.
1. Adjust the brake adjustment nut until the cables are
snug in the brake equalizer plate (Fig. 3). Do not
overtighten.

2. Check to see that there is some free play in the brake
pedal. Approximately 1 to 1-1/2 inch of travel is
acceptable. Adjust the brake adjustment nut as
necessary.
3. Tighten the lock nut onto the brake adjustment nut.
Completing the Installation
4. Secure the eyelet end of the brake rod to the brake pedal
assembly using a shoulder bolt and lock nut (3/8 inch).
Note: There is enough space to install the fasteners with
out removing the pedal pivots.
5. Hook the spring to the brake rod.
1. Install the metal plate surrounding the pedal assembly.
2. Install the floor mat if equipped.
