Procedure
1. Diseng ag e the PTO , set the parking brak e , and
c hoc k or bloc k the dri v e wheels .

2. T ur n off the engine , remo v e the k ey , and w ait
for all mo ving par ts to stop before lea ving the
operating position.
3. Unlatc h the blo w er and remo v e it from the
mac hine .
4. R emo v e the spring from the latc h and the
blo w er ( Figure 1 ).
5. R emo v e the n uts and bolt holding the existing
latc h to the blo w er and remo v e it. Discard
the latc h, spring and hardw are ( Figure 1 and
Figure 2 ).

Assembling the New Latch
Parts needed for this step:

Locknut (3/8 inch)

Jam nut (3/8 inch)
Procedure
1. Install the jam n ut (3/8 inc h) all the w a y onto
the threaded rod hook end ( Figure 4 ).
2. Install the rod hook through the bloc k in
the middle of the handle and secure it with
a loc kn ut (3/8 inc h) until there is one thread
sho wing on the end of the rod hook ( Figure 4 ).

Drilling the Hole for the New
Latch

Procedure
1. Locate , mark and center punc h the hole
location sho wn in ( Figure 5 ).
2. Drill a 11/32 inc h hole into the latc h guard
( Figure 5 ).

2. Install the latc h assembly and pi v ot plate using
the previously drilled hole in the blo w er with
a bolt (5/16 x 1 inc h) and loc kn ut (5/16 inc h)
( Figure 7 ).

Procedure
1. Install the latc h assembly to the blo w er and
pi v ot plate at the bottom of the latc h with a
bolt (5/16 x 1-7/8 inc h), spacer and loc kn ut
(5/16 inc h) ( Figure 6 ).

Adjusting the Latch

Procedure
Adjust the blo w er latc h when it is does not eng ag e
the front peg cor rectly . A 9/16 inc h thin w all dee p
soc k et is recommended for this procedure .
1. Chec k that the bag g er belt is properly installed
and routed cor rectly . R efer to the Operator’ s
Maual.
2. Guide the rod hook onto the front peg and
pull up on the handle to loc k the latc h. Use
the follo wing procedures to ensure the latc h
eng ag es properly .
3. T here m ust not be a g ap betw een the mounting
plate and the blo w er assembly ( Figure 8 ).
If there is a g ap , proceed to item 5 of this
procedure and shor ten the latc h.
4. T he blo w er latc h m ust eng ag e the front peg
properly ( Figure 9 ). If it does not, proceed to
item 5 of this procedure and lengthen the latc h.

the handle ( Figure 4 ).
7. Tighten the loc k n ut at the end of the rod hook.
8. Chec k to mak e sure the latc h loc ks and unloc ks
properly . R e peat adjustments if needed.
