Installing the Striping Kit
The striping kit can be installed on models with 52, 60, and
72 inch decks. The installation instructions are divided into
sections specific to those deck sizes. Find the section
pertaining to your deck size and use those instructions to
properly install the striping kit.

Preparing the Unit
Park the unit on a level surface, engage the parking brake,
stop the engine, and remove the key.
1. Raise the deck.
2. Place support blocks underneath the deck.
3. Lower the deck onto the support blocks to relieve
weight from the rear chains.

for 52 inch models
The striping wiper needs to be trimmed for models with 52
inch decks.
1. Locate the notches in the wiper as shown in Figure 2.
2. Trim the wiper at the second notch for models with 52
inch decks (Fig. 2).
3. Discard the trimmed piece of wiper.
Installing the Rod Adjuster
1. Remove the bolt and two flange nuts that secure the top
of the rear chains to the lift arms. Discard the bolt.
2. Install the 7/16 x 2-1/2 inch bolts through the adjuster
mount with the cross tube nearest the bolt head (Fig. 3).

3. Install the top chain link next, then one flange nut with
the flange side toward the lift arm (Fig. 3).

4. Install the assembly onto the lift arm and secure it with
the remaining flange nut. The nut should be flush with
the end of the bolt.
5. Torque nuts to 45 ft⋅lbs (N⋅m).
Assembling the Striping Bar
1. Select the set of long pivot mounts for 52 inch decks.
2. Install two carriage bolts (5/16 x 1-1/4 inch) through the
support plate, wiper, striping bar, and pivot mounts as
shown in Figure 4.
3. Secure the carriage bolts with two lock nuts (5/16 inch).
Do not tighten to allow for later adjustment.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the other side.
5. Install the rear bar as shown in Figure 4 using 8 carriage
bolts (5/16 x 1-1/4 inch) and 8 lock nuts (5/16 inch).
Note: The center hole of the rear bar is not used.

Installing the Lift Rods
1. Position the striping assembly behind the deck with the
pivot mounts facing forward.
2. Remove the anti-scalp roller wheel, axle bolt, hub,
wheel spacer, and flange nut (Fig. 5) from the wheel
bracket.
3. Install the pivot arm of the striping assembly over the
wheel spacer.
4. Assemble the anti-scalp roller wheel and striping
assembly as shown in Figure 5.
5. Secure the anti-scalp roller wheel and striping assembly
with the axle bolt and flange nut removed previously
(Fig. 5).
6. Repeat steps 2-5 for the opposite side.
7. Adjust the striping assembly so that it is centered
behind the deck. Tighten the fasteners at the support
plates on opposite ends of the striping assembly
(Fig. 4).

Perform the following steps on both the left and right side
of the unit.
1. Install one knob on the threaded end of the lift rod with
the hub side up as shown in Figure 6.
Note: Wing nuts, included in the loose parts, can be
substituted for the hand knobs in this step.

2. Guide the lift rod end with the inverted hub through the
adjuster mount and install the another knob with the
hub side down (Fig. 6).

Note: Wing nuts, included in the loose parts, can be

3. Secure the knob with a flat washer (5/16 inch), and
flange nut (5/16 inch).

4. Install the adjuster bracket for the 52 inch decks at the
hole closest to where the lift rod reaches the striping
assembly (Fig. 7).

5. Secure the adjuster bracket using a carriage bolt
(5/16 x 1-1/4 inch) and lock nut (5/16 inch), as shown
in Figure 7. Do not tighten to allow for later adjustment.
6. Insert the bent end of the lift rod into the top hole of the
bracket and secure it with a hair pin (Fig. 7).
7. Repeat steps 4-6 for other side.
8. If necessary, center the striping assembly by moving it
within the adjuster bracket and then tighten the
fasteners.
