Toensureproperdebrispickup,ensurethatthe
machineframeisparallelwiththeground.
1.Positionthemachineonaat,levelsurface.
2.Removethepinandrotatethejacktothe
ground.Aligntheholesandinstallthepin.
3.Adjustthejacksothatthedistancefromthetop
oftheframetothegroundis59.7cm(23-1/2
inches)(Figure3).
Important:Ensurethatthereisclearance
betweenthebatterycablesandthespeed
selectorlever.Verifythatthespeedselector
leverdoesnotcomewithin1inch(2.5cm)of
eitherbatterycablewhenitismovedthrough
itsentirerangeofmotion.Donotwireor
tapethenegativeandpositivebatterycables
together.
WARNING
Incorrectbatterycableroutingcould
damagethemachineandcables,causing
sparks.Sparkscancausethebattery
gassestoexplode,resultinginpersonal
injury.
•Alwaysdisconnectthenegative
(black)batterycablebefore
disconnectingthepositive(red)
cable.

IgnitionSwitch
Theignitionswitch,whichisusedtostartandshut
offtheengine,hasthreepositions:OFF,RUN,and
START.RotatethekeyclockwisetotheSTARTposition
toengagethestartermotor.Releasethekeywhen
theenginestarts(Figure5).Thekeywillmove
automaticallytotheRUNposition.T oshutoffthe
engine,rotatethekeycounterclockwisetotheOFF
position.
ThrottleControl
Thethrottle(Figure5)isusedtooperatetheengineat
variousspeeds.MovingthethrottlelevertotheFAST
positionincreasestheenginespeed.T odecreasethe
enginespeed,movethelevertotheSLOWposition.
Movethereelleverforwardtoraisetheextipreel.
Tolowertheexreel,movetheleverforward,release
thecatch,thenmovethelevertotherearuntilithits
thestop.Movethelevertotheraisedpositionwhen
themachineisnotinoperation,whenstoringthe
machine,orwhentransportingthemachine(Figure4).
