9. Ventilation
Slots and openings in the cabinet are pro vided for ve ntilation and to en sure reliab le opera tion of the produc t and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. 11. Grounding or Polarization
This product may be e q ui ppe d with a polarized al t er n ating-current line pl u g(a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing t he plug . 12. Power-Cord Protection
Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cards at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from
13. Protective Attachment Plug
The product is equipped with an attachment plug having overload protection. This is a safety feature. See instruction Manual for replacement or resetting of protective device. If replacement of the plug is required, be sure the service technician has used a replacement plug specified by the manufacturer that has the same overload protection as the or iginal plug.
14. Outdoor Antenna Grounding
If an outside antenna or c able system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protect ion a ga inst voltage surges and built-up static charges. Art icle 81 0 of th e National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.
15. Lightning
For added protection for this produ ct d urin g a lightning stor m, or when it is left unat tende d and unused for lon g periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightn ing and power-line surges.
16. Power Lines
An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits . When installing an outside a ntenna system, extreme care should be tak en to keep from touching suc h po wer lin es o r cir cu its as con tact w it h th em mi ght b e fatal.
17. Overloading

20. Damage Requiring Service

Power Connections
Warning
1. Must use the outlet of the grounding to connect th e power cord .

1. CD-RW Slot (1 to 16) : Insert CD.
2. Channel Indicator (1 to 16) : Indicates which channels are operating.
3. POWER : Press to turn on/off power. The power ind icator will light up when power is on.
4. REC Indicator : The indicator will blink during recording. NT Indicator : The indicator will light up during network c onnection.
AR Indicator : The indicator will light up when sensor is triggered.
5. PANIC : Toggle to start/s top panic recording of all channels with high record ing quality .
6. MONITOR : Display the Monitoring Control Menu on the screen.
7. PTZ : Enter the PTZ control mode.

2.1. Installation of Hard Disk Drives
Compatible Hard Drives : Samsung, Maxtor, Fujitsu, Western Digital
2.1.1. Installation Order.
Unscrew the Br ackets fro m the DVR bott om in order to insta ll Hard Driv es.
- Installing one HDD : PRIMARY MASTER
- Installing two HDD : PRIMARY MASTER SECONDARY MASTER
- Insta llin g thr ee HD D : PRIMARY MASTER SECONDARY MASTER → PRIMARY SLAVE
- Installing four HDD : PRIMARY MASTER SECONDARY MASTER → PRIMARY SLAVE SECONDARY SLAVE
* Hard Drives mu st be insta lled in t he DVR ac cording t o the abov e order a nd adjust the Jumper
Pin of the Hard Drive to the Master or Slave pos ition.
- Fasten 2 screws on each side of the HDD brack et to fix the Hard Driv es to the bra cket.

2.2. Starting the DVR
After installing t he hard disk, con nect the power c ord to start the DVR. When starting the DVR for the first time, formatting of the hard disk will commence automatically and the DVR will be initializ ed as follow s.
The DVR will perform “S.M.A.R.T.” check of the installed har d disk. If no problem is detected [S.M.A.R.T. PASS] will be indicated and if a problem is detected [S.M.A.R.T.
FAILURE] will be indicated and a warning will appear on the monitoring screen every 1 minute for a duration of 5 seconds.
The hard disk capacity indicated may be smaller than the capacity declared by the hard disk producer . This difference may occur due to the difference in measure units and therefore is not a defect.
If the hard disk detected has not been formatted, recording will start after the formatting is completed.
Installation
S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monito ring, Analysis and Reporting T echnology)
S.M.A.R.T. is a reliability prediction technology to anticipate the failure of a hard disk drive with
sufficient notice to allow a system or user to back up data prior to a drive’s failure. If the controller detects problems in the disk drive reliability, it will release a warning to the user. In such a case, the use of the disk drive should be s topped immediately and have it examined.
Cautions & Warnings
1. Press the Power button on the DVR until the Power Indicator lights up.
2. The Hard Disk used in this D VR is compat ible with the Wind ows OS b y using th e F AT32 file system. However, we cannot guarantee safety against the possibility that the system may crash with vaccine programs such as Anti-Virus, V3, etc.
3. If the Hard Disk is formatted in the Windows environment, it should be performed in Windows XP or a higher edition and must use the FA T32 format.
4. Do not remove devices during b ackup or playback of recorded dat a. It may cause DVR malfunctions.

on to the monitoring screen. Click the mouse left button on th e [LOG OUT] button on the right hand corner of the Menu Bar to esca pe from the Administrator Mode.
This will prohibit any other users other than the authorized personnel with proper password to enter PLAY(Search), PTZ Control, and SETUP

Default value of the Password is set at “0000”. Password can be changed in the SYSTEM SETUP menu.

3.2. System Setup
Before starting your DVR for the first time, you should establish the initial s ettings. This inc ludes categories such as Language, DVR ID, Date and Time, DST, Password, User Authorization.
Click the [SETUP] button on the Menu Bar to enter SETUP and the [SYSTEM] Setup screen will appear on the monitor.

In Camera Setup, you may designate Motion Detection and Masking Areas, sele ct Covert funct ion, and adjust the Color and PTZ settings for individual/all cameras connected to the DVR.

4.1. Monitoring
During the Monitoring Mode, video data from cameras are relayed live to monitors. Multi-Screen Disp lay, Channel Shift, Screen Freez e, and Full-S creen Displa y are suppo rted in the Mon itoring Mode.

The monitoring screen can be displayed in 4 / 9 / 13 / 16 channel Multi-Screen.
The Monitor Display will s hift to the next Multi-S creen Display type in the following order.

4.1.2. Changing Channel
Changing the channel is po ssible only in 1 / 4 / 9 / 13 display modes.
Turn the mouse wheel to increase and decrease channels.

You ma y freeze a live image dur ing monitoring.
Place the mouse cursor on the screen(Channel) that is to be frozen and double click the mouse left button

GREY : No input signal. BLUE : Input signal exists but recording not in progress.

Click the mouse left button on the [VIDEO] button and the channel buttons will appear in the sub-menu. Click the mouse left bu tton on the channel bu tton you wish to see and design ate as the pivot screen.

Displays the current status of eac h audio channels and you may select which audi o channel you wish to hear .
Current status of each audio channels are displayed based on different colors.
GREY : No recording is in progress. BLUE : Recording in progress in progress.
RED : Selected channel.

You may select to display or hide OSD on the screen during monitoring.

The Status bar will disappea r automatically after 10 seconds.

3. Video Reset
This function can be used to correct bad video conditions(Noise, distortion, etc.)
Click the Video Reset button with the mouse left button when you experience bad video conditions.
4. Sensor & Network Status
Status of Sensor , Network Connection, Recording are displayed on the Status Bar .

Playback/Search and Capture of recorded video/data may be performed in this mode.
Search can be performed in three different methods.

4.3.1. Time/Date Search
Recorded videos may be searched based on Time and Date.
1. Calendar
Select the date.
Dates containing recording data will be highlighted in yellow and the select ed date will b e highlighted
in green.
Move to previou s/next month by clic king the buttons on the calendar.
Then click the relevant day.

2. Channel/Time Table
Numbers 0~24 represents Tim e and recording information is displayed on the table for 8 chan nels.

3. Playback Scroll Bar
Displays the p layback pro gression r ate of the selec ted video clip
The scrollbar represents one hour and each scale mark represents 10 minutes .
Return to the beginning of the selected video clip during playback and playback will not
resume unless othe rwise inst ructed. If this button is clicked at the beg innin g of the video c lip, it will move back to the previous hour and resume playback. If no video clip exists in the previous hour it will search for the most recent previous video clip.
Advance to the end of the selected video clip during playback and stop. If thi s button is
clicked at the end of t he vide o clip , p la yba ck will res ume fro m the n ext hou r. If no video clip exists in the next hour , it will search for the nearest subsequent video clip.
Clicking on the scr oll bar will sta rt playba ck anywhe re in the time f rame.

4.3.2. Event Search
Video files recorded from Sensor activation are recorded into the Event Log and can be played back. Event search may b e performed by selecting a date from the calendar and selecting th e file from the Ev ent log list.

4.3.3. File Search(CD-RW, USB )
Recorded videos may be searched through the file list of each storage devices. The file system is similar to the Windows environment. .
1. Calendar
Select the date.
Move to previous/next month by clicking the buttons on the calendar. Then click the
relevant day .
2. Channel
Select the storage device.
Click on the storage devic e button. Re-clicking the bu tton will enable/disa ble the channel.
3. File List
Select a file you wish to view .
: Move to the previous page o f the File List.
: Move to the next page o f the File List.
Click on the file you wish to view and use the playback buttons and the playback scroll bar to
search the video.

4.3.4. Capture
Copying images or vid eo clips to the CDRW or USB Memory is possible through CAPTURE.
1. Image Capture
Approximately 10 seconds of the video that is being played back c an be copied to the CDRW or the
USB Memory .
The image will be copied in the MPEG4 format.
Enter the Playback mode and search the image you wish to copy by using the playback buttons
and click . Then select the storage device from the pop-up screen.
Approximately 5 seconds before an d after the design ated image will be c opied to the stor age device.
2. Video Clip Copy
This function is to copy a video clip to a CDRW or USB Memory.
Mark the Starting Point of the video clip to be copied.
Mark the Ending Point of the video clip to be copied. Start the copying process to the storage device. Cancel the capture process.
1. Enter the Playback mode and search the video clip you wish to copy using the playback buttons and click . Then select the storage device from the pop-up screen

- SWING : Continuously move between two preset positions.
- PA T TERN : Continuous ly move in the pr e-assigned mult i directions.
- GROUP : Sequence movement of PRESETs, SWINGs and PA T TERN.
1. Enter SWING, PATTERN, GROUP and click the [RUN] button to activate PTZ camera movement.
2. PRESET :
(1) Control the PTZ camer a using the v arious PTZ cont rol buttons to ass ign the direction of
the camera. (2) Designat e the preset number. (3) Designat e the name(e x. Door) for the area th e PTZ camer a is direc ted.
(4) Designate th e Sensor or Sensor s that is to be link ed to the PTZ cam era.
The PTZ camera will a utomatically mo ve in the direc tion of the linked sensor for recording.
(5) Click [SET] to save the camera presets or click [CLEAR] to cancel the preset setting.
4. PTZ INFO
Enter to view the setup information of the selected PTZ camera.
Re-click the [PT Z INFO] button a gain to make the PTZ information scr een disappear..
5. Menu Display
1. Click to make the PTZ control menu disappear. Moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen or click ing the mouse rig ht button will mak e the menu re-app ear on the screen

Appendix B : Trouble Shooting
Symptoms Check Point
Cannot turn on power.
Check if power cord is firmly connected to the DVR and the power
outlet..
Power turns on automatically. • The power turns on automatically if the power was not turned off
properly . This is not a malfunct ion.
No live video • Check cable connections between DVR and camera .
• Check cable conn ections between DVR and mon itor.
• Check camera power con nection status.
Bad live video conditions. • Adjust brightness, contrast, color in the Camer a Setup menu.
• Check monitor co lor settings.
No recording • Check if recording conditions in the Setup menu.
• If recording condition is set with sensor activation, the linked camera will not star t recording unless the sensor is triggered.
• If recording is set with motion detection, recording will not start unless motion is detected. If recording does not start even when there is m otion, a djust t he came ra sen sitivit y in the Setup m enu.
Recorded data disappeared. • If the HDD capacity is full, recording will continue by overwriting
the oldest data. To avoid overwriting existing data, select [STOP] in the Record Setu p menu.
PTZ control does not work. • Check cable connections of the PTZ camera.
• Check if the PTZ controller is conf igured correctly.
• Check PTZ status and whether the corr ect ID/Drive r is selected in the Camera Setup menu.
No response during Import/Export and Upgrade.
• Check if the CD-RW or USB is proper ly inserted.
• Check if the CF-Card is formatted in the FAT32 format. If not, follow the instructions prov ided in [CONFIGURA TION] →[FORMAT]
Cannot perform S- A TA b ackup. • Check cable conn ections between DVR and exterior S- AT A Dr ive.
• Check power status o f exterior S- AT A Dr ive.
• Check if the exterior S-ATA Drive was formatted with the FAT32 File System.(Su pport only S AT A -I, 1.5 Gbps mode.)
SMART F AIL warning when installing hard disk drive.
• Check HDD connect ions.
• Check HDD jumper setup status.

PPENDIX
• If existing HDD already has SMART problem, this may cause the Fail war ning. In such case, remove the existing HDD .
• When changing the HDD and only one HDD is av ailable , install the new HDD into the Secondary Master slot and when the power is turned on, the System File in the existing HDD will be automatically copied into the n ew HD D. Then the failed HDD ma y be removed. When a SMART Fail occurs, other non-defective HDDs may also be recognized to have SMART problems but once the defective HDD is re moved the S MART F ail n otice will disappear. Other than SMART Fail, if the HDD Health level is below 128 or if the DVR set repeats booting, check the HDD Health.
Booting does not start or a No File Exists message appears.
• Check whether the DIP Switch on the rear panel of the DVR is positioned in the CF BOOT or USB BOOT position .
• For CF BOOT, check if the CF Card is inserted properly into the CF­Card slot. And for USB BOOT, check if the cable is properly connected between the PC and DVR USB port.
