ELECTRIC WEED BURNER WITH PRECISION PIN

1. Introduction

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device
after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or
batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialized
company for recycling. This device should be returned to your distributor or to a
local recycling service. Respect the local environmental rules.

If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

2. Safety Instructions

WARNING

Please read the following safety instructions carefully before using this product.

Outdoor use only.

Keep this device away from children and unauthorized users.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the
hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall
not be made by children without supervision.

There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Refer to an authorized dealer for service
and/or spare parts.

Risk of electroshock when opening the cover. Touching live wires can cause life-threatening
electroshocks. Do not disassemble or open the housing yourself. Have the device repaired by
qualified personnel.

Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and dripping liquids.

Always disconnect mains power when the device is not in use or when servicing or maintenance
activities are performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or
similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

Class 2: this device is designed with double insulation.

Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive atmospheres. Heat can cause fire to
inflammable products even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly ventilated areas.

Device heats up during use. Never touch the nozzle or heat shield while using the device. Let the
device cool down for 30 minutes. Some parts of the device get really hot, even after a short use.

Electrical Safety

Never modify the plug or power cord in any way. Do not use adapters with
earthed devices.

Avoid any body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, cookers and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.

If use of the device in humid locations is unavoidable, connect the device to a
power supply protected by an RCD (Residual Current Differential) device.

Personal Safety

Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating the
device. Do not use the device when you are tired or under influence of drugs,
alcohol or medication.

Avoid unintentional starting. Make sure the switch is on the off position before
plugging the device into the mains and/or fitting the batteries, picking it up or
carrying it. Do not carry the device with your finger on the on-off switch. Do not
plug in the device with the switch in the on position.

Do not overreach. Keep proper position and balance at all times.

Dress in a suitable manner. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts.

Never aim the device directly at humans or animals.

Do not use the device as a heat source in your house or for melting ice and snow
or for any other use than intended.

The Device

Do not force the device. Use the correct device for your application.

Do not use the device if the switch does not make it possible to change from the
operating condition to stop and vice versa. Any device which cannot be controlled
by the switch is dangerous and should be repaired.

If the device is running erratically or something unusual occurs during use,
immediately switch off the device and unplug from the mains. Inspect the device
before using it again. Repair must only be carried out by a qualified technician.

Disconnect the power cord before any adjustment, changing an accessory or
before storing the device.

Keep an idle device out of the reach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with the device or these instructions to operate it.

Maintain the device. Check that there is no misalignment or obstruction of the
moving or broken parts, or any other condition that could affect the operation of
the device. In the event of damage, have the device repaired before using it.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.

Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the
device.

Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.

All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused
by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.

Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised
way will void the warranty.

Never block the air intake of the device.

Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the
warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

This device is not intended for professional use.

This device serves exclusively to eliminate sprawl between paving stones, on
paved areas, from masonry, in flower beds and lawns during the growth period.

Keep this manual for future reference.

5. Operation

WARNING

Never touch the tip during use. The tip can be very hot!

Never cover the ventilation openings.

A fire may result if the appliance is not used with care. Therefore:

o be careful when using the appliance in places where there are

combustible materials

o do not apply to the same place for a long time
o do not use in presence of an explosive atmosphere
o be aware that heat may be conducted to combustible materials, which

are out of sight

o place the appliance on its stand after use and allow it to cool down before

storage

o do not leave the appliance unattended when switched on
o do not allow hot parts of the appliance to touch the cord or other

flammable materials.

Connect the device to the mains and switch on.

Leave the device to warm up for at least five minutes.

Point the heated tip towards the weed. Press firmly into the soil to reach the
roots. Hold the tip against the roots for 15 seconds.

Pull out the tip and proceed to the next weed.

Stronger weeds or woody stems (wild grass, roots, etc.) may require a repeat
application. If necessary, repeat this procedure after a few days. Do not use this
device on flower beds or lawns.

Switch off the device and disconnect from the mains after use. Leave to cool
down completely.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Disconnect the device from the power supply and allow to cool completely before
cleaning, maintenance or storage.

Clean the device and accessories before storing.

Wipe with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals,
cleaning solvents or strong detergents.

Storing

Make sure the device has completely cooled down before storing.

Store the device, its accessories and this user manual in the original packaging.

Always store in a cool and dry place.

ELEKTRISCHE ONKRUIDBRANDER MET

PRECISIEBRANDER

1. Inleiding

Aan alle ingezetenen van de Europese Unie
Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het na zijn
levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan toebrengen aan het
milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele batterijen) niet bij het gewone
huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor
recyclage. U moet dit toestel naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt
brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.

Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten betreffende de
verwijdering.

Dank u voor uw aankoop. Lees deze handleiding grondig door voor u het toestel
in gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het transport, installeer

2. Veiligheidsvoorschriften

WAARSCHUWING

Lees aandachtig de veiligheidsvoorschriften voor u het toestel gebruikt.

Uitsluitend voor gebruik buitenshuis.

Houd dit toestel buiten het bereik van kinderen en onbevoegden.

Dit toestel is geschikt voor gebruik door kinderen vanaf 8 jaar, door personen met fysieke,
zintuiglijke of verstandelijke beperkingen, of door personen met gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, op
voorwaarde dat dit onder toezicht gebeurt van een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun
veiligheid of hun aanwijzingen heeft gegeven, hoe zij het toestel moeten gebruiken en zich bewust
zijn van de risico's die het gebruik van het toestel met zich meebrengt. Kinderen mogen niet met
het toestel spelen. De reiniging en het onderhoud van het toestel mogen niet worden uitgevoerd
door kinderen, tenzij ze onder toezicht staan.

Er zijn geen onderdelen in het toestel die door de gebruiker gerepareerd kunnen worden. Contacteer
uw verdeler voor eventuele reserveonderdelen.

Elektrocutiegevaar bij het openen van de behuizing. Raak geen kabels aan die onder stroom staan
om dodelijke elektrische schokken te vermijden. Open de behuizing niet zelf. Laat het onderhoud
van het toestel over aan een vakman.

Bescherm dit toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende vloeistoffen.

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer het toestel niet in gebruik is of voordat u het toestel
reinigt. Houd de voedingskabel altijd vast bij de stekker en niet bij de kabel.

Indien de voedingskabel beschadigd is, dan moet deze door de fabrikant, diens servicedienst, of een
andere bekwame persoon vervangen worden om gevaar te voorkomen.

Klasse 2: dit toestel is uitgerust met dubbele isolatie.

Vermijd gebruik in de buurt van brandbare producten of explosieve gassen. Door de hitte kunnen
brandbare stoffen ontvlammen, ook wanneer deze niet zichtbaar zijn. Gebruik enkel in een goed
geventileerde ruimte.

Dit toestel wordt zeer warm tijdens het gebruik. Raak nooit het mondstuk of de bescherming aan
tijdens het gebruik. Laat het toestel 30 minuten afkoelen. Sommige onderdelen worden, zelfs na
kort gebruik, heel warm.

Elektrische veiligheid

De stekker of de voedingskabel mogen in geen geval worden veranderd. Gebruik
geen adapters in combinatie met geaarde elektrische toestellen.

Voorkom aanraking van het lichaam met geaarde oppervlakken (bv. buizen,
verwarmingen, fornuizen en koelkasten). Er bestaat een verhoogd risico op
elektrische schokken wanneer uw lichaam geaard is.

Als het gebruik van het toestel in een vochtige omgeving onvermijdelijk is,
gebruik dan een aardlekschakelaar.

Persoonlijke veiligheid

Wees alert, let goed op wat u doet en ga verstandig te werk. Gebruik het toestel
niet als u moe bent of onder invloed van drugs, alcohol of medicijnen.

Voorkom per ongeluk inschakelen. Controleer of het toestel uitgeschakeld is
voordat u de stekker in het stopcontact steekt en/of de batterijen plaatst, het
toestel oppakt of draagt. Draag het toestel niet met de vinger op de aan/uit­schakelaar. Sluit het toestel niet aan wanneer de schakelaar op "ON" staat.

Zorg voor een veilige houding. Zorg dat u uw evenwicht niet verliest.

Draag gepaste kleding. Draag geen wijde kleren of sieraden. Houd uw haar,
kleren en handschoenen buiten het bereik van bewegende delen.

Richt het toestel nooit rechtstreeks op mensen of dieren.

Gebruik het toestel niet als warmtebron binnenshuis, voor het smelten van ijs of
sneeuw, enz.

Het toestel

Overbelast het toestel niet. Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het bestemd is.

Gebruik het toestel niet als de aan/uit-schakelaar niet werkt. Een toestel dat niet
meer kan worden in- of uitgeschakeld, is gevaarlijk en moet worden hersteld.

Als het toestel niet correct functioneert, schakel het onmiddellijk uit en trek de
stekker uit. Controleer het toestel voor u het opnieuw gebruikt. Laat het toestel
herstellen door een vakman.

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact voordat u wijzigingen aanbrengt, toebehoren
vervangt of het toestel opbergt.

Houd het toestel buiten het bereik van kinderen wanneer niet in gebruik.
Personen die niet met het toestel vertrouwd zijn of die deze
gebruiksaanwijzingen niet hebben gelezen, mogen het toestel niet gebruiken.

Onderhoud het toestel. Controleer op verkeerd uitgelijnde of vastgelopen
bewegende onderdelen, breuk of andere defecten die de werking van het toestel
zouden kunnen beïnvloeden. Laat beschadigde onderdelen herstellen voor gebruik.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze
handleiding.

Bescherm tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de bediening van het
toestel.

Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.

Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het toestel.
Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan het toestel valt
niet onder de garantie.

Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt
automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.

Blokkeer nooit de luchtinlaat van het toestel.

De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in
deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor
defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee houden.

Dit toestel is niet geschikt voor professioneel gebruik.

Dit toestel dient uitsluitend voor het verwijderen van onkruid tussen tegels, op
verharde oppervlakken, van stenen, in bloemperken en gazons tijdens de
bloeiperiode.

Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

5. Gebruik

WAARSCHUWING

Raak de punt nooit aan tijdens het gebruik. De punt kan zeer warm zijn!

Bedek nooit de ventilatieopeningen.

Er kan brand ontstaan indien het toestel niet met zorg wordt behandeld. Neem
daarom het volgende in acht:

o Wees voorzichtig wanneer het toestel wordt gebruikt in de nabijheid van

ontvlambare materialen.

o Richt het toestel niet te lang op dezelfde plaats.
o Gebruik het toestel niet in een omgeving waar explosiegevaar bestaat.
o De warmte kan door geleiding worden verspreid naar ontvlambare

materialen die niet direct zichtbaar zijn.

o Plaats het toestel op de houder na gebruik en laat het afkoelen voordat u

het opbergt.

o Laat het toestel niet onbeheerd achter wanneer het ingeschakeld is.
o Zorg ervoor dat de hete onderdelen van het toestel niet in contact

kunnen komen met de kabel of andere brandbare materialen.

Steek de stekker in het stopcontact en schakel het toestel in.

Laat het toestel minstens 5 minuten opwarmen.

Richt de verwarmde punt op het onkruid. Druk de punt stevig in de grond om de
wortels te bereiken. Houd de punt tegen de wortels gedurende 15 seconden.

Verwijder de punt en behandel de volgende plant.

Hardnekkig of vertakt onkruid (wild gras, wortel, enz.) moeten langer aan de
hitte blootgesteld worden. Herhaal deze procedure na een paar dagen indien
nodig. De onkruidbrander is niet geschikt voor bloembedden of gazons.

Schakel het toestel uit en trek de stekker uit na gebruik. Laat het toestel volledig
afkoelen.

6. Reiniging en onderhoud

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact en laat het toestel volledig afkoelen voordat u
het reinigt of opbergt.

Reinig het toestel en de toebehoren voor u het opbergt.

Reinig het toestel af en toe met een vochtige doek. Gebruik geen bijtende
chemische producten, reinigingsmiddelen of sterke detergenten.

Opslag

Zorg ervoor dat het toestel volledig is afgekoeld voordat u het opbergt.

Bewaar het toestel, de toebehoren en deze handleiding in de oorspronkelijke
verpakking.

Bewaar het toestel steeds in een koele en droge ruimte.
