USER MANUAL

1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union
Important environmental information about this product

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its lifecycle could
harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it
should be taken to a specialized company for recycling. This device should be returned to your
distributor or to a local recycling service. Respect the local environmental rules.

If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

Thank you for choosing Toolland. Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If
the device was damaged in transit, do not install or use it and contact your dealer.

2. Safety Instructions

Read operator’s manual.

Outdoor use only.

Risk of electroshock when opening the cover. Touching live wires can cause life-threatening
electroshocks. Do not disassemble or open the housing yourself. Have the device repaired by qualified
personnel.

This device can be used by children aged from 8 years and above, and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards
involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by
children without supervision.

There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Refer to an authorized dealer for service and/or
spare parts.

Warning. This tool must be placed on its stand when not in use. Place the appliance on its stand after
use and allow cooling before storing.

Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive atmospheres. Heat can cause fire to
inflammable products even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly ventilated areas.

Be careful when using the appliance in places where there are combustible materials.

Device heats up during use. Never touch the nozzle or heat shield while using the device. Let the
device cool down for 30 minutes. Some parts of the device get really hot, even after a short use. Do
not allow hot parts to touch the cord or other flammable materials.

Class II equipment.

 Never leave the device unattended when it is switched on.
 Never aim the burner head directly at humans or animals.
 Do not apply the weed burner to the same place for a long time.
 Wear appropriate footwear and gloves when using the device.
 Never use the device with wet hands.
 Do not operate this device while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines.
 Do not use the device if you are ill or tired.
 Do not use the device as a heat source in your house or for melting ice and snow or for any other use listed

above.

 Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed the voltage stated in the specifications of this manual.
 Do not use the device in wet weather.
 Make sure that the burner is positioned properly.
 Keep the user manual for further reference.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.

Keep this device away from dust and extreme temperatures.

Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the device.

 Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
 All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to

the device is not covered by the warranty.

 Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the

warranty.

 Unplug the device immediately if the cable has been damaged.
 Never block the air intake of the device.
 Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the

dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

 This device is not intended for professional use.
 This device serves exclusively to eliminate sprawl between paving stones, on paved areas, from masonry,

in flower beds and lawns during the growth period.

 You can also use the device for lighting charcoal barbecues outdoors. Observe the operating instructions

and regulations of the grill manufacturer.

5. Operation

 Plug the device to the mains outlet.
 Switch the device on with the on / off button.

Notes

 Dry woods, leaves, pine needles and dry grasses may catch fire. Watch the treated plants for some time

after treatment.

 The best time to treat sprawl is in the spring. The results are not visible immediately.
 Older plants with hard leaves, such as thistles, dry earliest after repeated treatment at intervals of one to

two weeks. Some types of grasses are extremely robust and require a longer exposure to heat.

 The weed needs only be heated. Burning is not necessary. The cells of the leaves dry out in this way and

the weed dies.

 Certain weed species require repeated treatment.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

 The mains plug must be disconnected:

o When faults occurring during operation
o Before performing any cleaning
o After every use

 Let the device cool down before storage.
 If necessary, wipe the device with a dry, lint-free cloth or a brush.
 Do not immerse the device in any liquid.
 If the device falls into water, unplug it immediately. Never reach into the water when the unit is still

connected.

HANDLEIDING

1. Inleiding

Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het na zijn levenscyclus wordt
weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel (en eventuele
batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een gespecialiseerd bedrijf
terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet dit toestel naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt
brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.

Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten betreffende de verwijdering.

2. Veiligheidsvoorschriften

Lees de gebruikershandleiding.

Uitsluitend voor gebruik buitenshuis.

Elektrocutiegevaar bij het openen van het toestel. Raak geen kabels aan die onder stroom staan, om
dodelijke elektrische schokken te vermijden. Open de behuizing niet zelf. Laat het onderhoud van het
toestel over aan een vakman.

Dit toestel is geschikt voor gebruik door kinderen vanaf 8 jaar, door personen met fysieke, zintuiglijke
of verstandelijke beperkingen, of door personen met gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, op voorwaarde
dat dit onder toezicht gebeurt van een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid of hun
aanwijzingen heeft gegeven, hoe zij het toestel moeten gebruiken en zich bewust zijn van de risico's
die het gebruik van het toestel met zich meebrengt. Kinderen mogen niet met het toestel spelen. De
reiniging en het onderhoud van het toestel mogen niet worden uitgevoerd door kinderen, tenzij ze
onder toezicht staan.

Er zijn geen onderdelen in het toestel die door de gebruiker gerepareerd kunnen worden. Contacteer
uw verdeler voor eventuele reserveonderdelen.

Waarschuwing. Plaats het toestel op de houder wanneer u deze niet gebruikt. Plaats het toestel op de
houder na gebruik en laat afkoelen voor u het toestel opbergt.

Vermijd gebruik in de buurt van brandbare producten of explosieve gassen. Hitte kan brandbare
stoffen doen ontbranden, ook al zijn deze stoffen niet zichtbaar. Gebruik enkel in een goed
geventileerde ruimte.

Gebruik het toestel niet in plaatsen waar ontvlambare materialen aanwezig zijn.

Dit toestel wordt zeer warm tijdens het gebruik. Raak de brandkop of het hitteschild nooit aan tijdens
het gebruik. Laat het toestel 30 minuten afkoelen. Sommige onderdelen worden, zelfs na kort
gebruik, heel warm. Zorg ervoor dat de hete onderdelen van het toestel niet in contact kunnen komen
met de kabel of andere brandbare materialen.

Klasse II-toestel.

 Laat een ingeschakeld toestel nooit onbeheerd achter.
 Richt de brander nooit naar mensen of dieren.
 Gebruik de onkruidbrander niet langdurig op dezelfde plaats.
 Draag geschikte schoenen en handschoenen wanneer u het toestel gebruikt.
 Gebruik het toestel nooit met natte handen.
 Gebruik dit toestel niet wanneer u onder invloed van alcohol, drugs of medicijnen bent.
 Gebruik het toestel niet wanneer u ziek of moe bent.
 Gebruik het toestel niet als warmtebron binnenshuis, voor het smelten van ijs en sneeuw of ander gebruik

(zie hierboven).

 De beschikbare netspanning mag niet hoger zijn dan de spanning in de specificaties achteraan de

handleiding.

 Gebruik het toestel niet in de regen.
 Zorg ervoor dat de brander correct geplaatst is.
 Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze handleiding.

Bescherm het toestel tegen stof en extreme temperaturen.

Bescherm tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de bediening van het toestel.

 Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat gebruiken.
 Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aan het apparaat aanbrengen. Schade door wijzigingen die

de gebruiker heeft aangebracht valt niet onder de garantie.

 Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.
 Ontkoppel het toestel onmiddellijk indien de voedingskabel beschadigd is.
 Blokkeer nooit de luchtinlaat van het toestel.
 De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer

zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee houden.

 Dit toestel is niet geschikt voor professioneel gebruik.
 Dit toestel dient uitsluitend voor het verwijderen van onkruid tussen tegels, op verharde oppervlakken, van

stenen, in bloemperken en gazons tijdens de bloeiperiode.

 Dit toestel is eveneens geschikt voor het aansteken van houtskoolbarbecues buitenshuis. Respecteer de

instructies en voorschriften van de fabrikant.

5. Gebruik

 Steek de stekker in het stopcontact.
 Schakel het toestel in met de aan/uit-knop.

Opmerkingen

 Droog hout, bladeren, dennennaalden en droog gras kunnen ontbranden. Bekijk de behandelde planten een

tijdje na de behandeling.

 De beste periode om onkruid te verdelgen is de lente. De resultaten zijn niet onmiddellijk zichtbaar.
 Oudere planten met harde bladeren (bv. distels) drogen pas na een herhaalde behandeling, met

tussenpozen van één tot twee weken. Bepaalde grassoorten zijn zeer hardnekkig hebben en moeten langer
behandeld worden.

 U hoeft het onkruid enkel te verhitten, verbranden is niet nodig. Op deze manier drogen de bladcellen uit

en sterft het onkruid af.

 Bepaalde onkruidsoorten hebben een herhaalde behandeling nodig.

6. Reiniging en onderhoud

 Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact:

o Wanneer het toestel niet correct functioneert
o Voor elke reiniging
o Na elk gebruik

 Laat toestel afkoelen voor u het opbergt.

 Indien nodig, maak het toestel geregeld schoon met een droge, niet pluizende doek of borstel.
 Dompel het toestel nooit onder in een vloeistof.
 Als het toestel in het water valt, ontkoppel het onmiddellijk. Grijp er nooit naar wanneer het toestel

aangesloten is.
