USER MANUAL

1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union
Important environmental information about this product

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the device after its
lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of the unit (or batteries) as
unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to a specialized company for recycling.
This device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling service. Respect
the local environmental rules.
If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

Thank you for choosing Toolland! Please read the manual thoroughly before bringing
this device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, do not install or use it and
contact your dealer.

2. Safety Instructions

Read and understand this manual and all safety
signs before using this appliance.

Indoor use only.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent
or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid
hazard.

The battery terminal not connected to the chassis
has to be connected first. The other connection is
to be made to the chassis, remote from the
battery and fuel line. The battery charger is then
to be connected to the mains supply.

After charging, disconnect the battery charger
from the mains supply. Then remove the chassis
connection and then the battery connection.

Warning: Never recharge non-rechargeable
batteries.

Be very careful: touching live wires can cause
life-threatening electroshocks.

Do not touch the device during operation as the
housing heats up.

Keep this device away from rain, moisture,
splashing and dripping liquids. Never put objects
filled with liquid on top of the device.

Disconnect mains power when device not in use.
Handle the power cord by the plug only.

Always wear safety goggles when handling
batteries.

• This device can be used by children aged from

8 years and above, and persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack
of experience and knowledge if they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning the
use of the device in a safe way and understand
the hazards involved. Children shall not play
with the device. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by children
without supervision.

• Damage caused by disregard of certain

guidelines in this manual is not covered by the
warranty and the dealer will not accept
responsibility for any ensuing defects or
problems.

• Make sure that the available voltage does not

exceed the voltage stated in the specifications
of this manual.

• Do not crimp the power cord or leads and

protect them against damage. Have an
authorised dealer replace it if necessary.

• Do not use the device when damage to

housing or cables is noticed. Do not attempt to
service the device yourself but contact an
authorised dealer.

• Note that damage caused by user

modifications to the device is not covered by
the warranty.

• Do not try to open the housing of the battery

or battery charger.

• Do not expose the battery and charger to full

sunlight or high temperatures.

• Acid may start to boil. This is not unusual, but

in order to prevent accidents switch off the
charger and let the battery cool down. Acid
gases are toxic. Do not inhale!

• Charging has to take place in a well-ventilated

area.

• Charging batteries with a higher capacity may

damage the charger.

• Always handle batteries with care.

• When smoke or stench from scorched

insulation is noticed, immediately unplug the
charger from the mains.

• There are no user-serviceable parts in the

charger. Contact your dealer for spare parts if
necessary.

3. General Guidelines

• Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when operating the

device. Protect the device against extreme heat, dust and moisture.

• All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by

user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.

• Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised

way will void the warranty.

• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by

the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or
problems.

• Nor Velleman nv nor its dealers can be held responsible for any damage

(extraordinary, incidental or indirect) – of any nature (financial, physical…) arising
from the possession, use or failure of this product.

• Keep this manual for future reference.

6. Preparation

REMARK

Always check the condition of the cables and clamps before using the battery charger.

Do not use when damage is noticed!

• Disconnect the battery from the vehicle before charging. To do this, first remove

the negative pole connection, and then proceed with the positive pole connection.

• When applicable (non-sealed battery), check the level of the battery acid. When

necessary, add distilled water.

• Clean the poles with a steel brush or sandpaper.

• Make sure the battery charger is not connected to the mains.

• Connect the positive clamp of the battery charger (red) with the positive pole (+)

of the battery. Make sure the clamp is secured tight.

• Connect the negative clamp of the battery charger (black) with the negative pole

(-) of the battery. Make sure the clamp is secured tight.

7. Operation

• The status of the charging process is indicated by 3 LEDs on the front of the unit.

Refer to the illustration on page 2 of this manual.

• When the battery charger is correctly connected to the battery, the red LED [A]

lights up. Otherwise, check the polarity of the connections and the fuse [D].

• When the battery has filler caps, unscrew them before charging.

• To start charging the battery, connect the battery charger to the mains. Make sure

the correct mains voltage is supplied (see technical specifications below).

• The red LED [A] will remain on during the entire charging procedure.

• The yellow LED [B] indicates that the battery charger is connected to the mains

and the charging procedure is ongoing.

• If the yellow LED [B] does not light up, check the condition of the mains socket

and the mains.

• When the yellow LED [B] turns off during charging, the circuit was interrupted by

the internal transformer overload protection system. Disconnect the charger from
the mains and allow it to cool down/stabilize for about 10 minutes before re­connecting to the mains. If after several hours the charger still does not indicate
that the battery is being charged, a short-circuited element might be present inside
the battery. The battery must be replaced.

• The charging procedure is finished when the green LED [C] lights. Note that the

intensity of the green LED [C] gradually builds up.

• The battery charger does not stop automatically. When the green LED [C] shines

bright, disconnect the charger from the mains.

• Disconnect the battery from the charger, starting with the clamp on the negative

pole (black) and then proceed with the clamp on the positive pole (red).

• When the fuse [D] is blown, the fuse will light. Replace the fuse in the front of the

charger by a fuse with the same specifications. Make sure no battery is connected
to the charger and the charger is disconnected from the mains when replacing the
fuse. Use a small screwdriver as a lever to release the fuse from its socket. Insert
the new fuse. Avoid the use of excessive force!

8. Cleaning and Maintenance

Before starting any cleaning or maintenance activities:

1. Unplug the device's power cord from the outlet.

2. Let the device cool down.

• Always remove the plug from the mains socket and disconnect batteries when

servicing or cleaning the charger.

• Never use water or any other liquids to clean the charger.

• Keep the cables clean, but avoid using cleaners based on benzene,

trichloroethylene, chloride, ammonia… as they affect or even dissolve plastic parts.

• Check liquid level of batteries once per month and fill up when necessary.

• Dispose of batteries in accordance with local regulations.

HANDLEIDING

1. Inleiding

Aan alle ingezetenen van de Europese Unie
Belangrijke milieu-informatie betreffende dit product

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan dat, als het na zijn levenscyclus
wordt weggeworpen, dit toestel schade kan toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit toestel
(en eventuele batterijen) niet bij het gewone huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een
gespecialiseerd bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet dit toestel naar uw
verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke
milieuwetgeving.

Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten betreffende de
verwijdering.

Dank u voor uw aankoop! Lees deze handleiding grondig door voor u het toestel in
gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het transport, installeer het dan
niet en raadpleeg uw dealer.

2. Veiligheidsvoorschriften

Lees en begrijp deze handleiding en de
veiligheidsinstructies vóór ingebruikname.

Uitsluitend voor gebruik binnenshuis.

Indien de voedingskabel beschadigd is, dan moet
deze door de fabrikant, diens servicedienst, of
een gelijkwaardig bekwaam persoon vervangen
worden om gevaar te voorkomen.

De poolklem die niet op het chassis aangesloten
is, moet eerst aangesloten worden. Koppel de
andere poolklem aan het chassis, weg van de
accu en brandstofleidingen. Koppel de acculader
daarna op het lichtnet.

Ontkoppel na het opladen de acculader van het
lichtnet. Ontkoppel de poolklem van het chassis
en daarna de andere poolklem.

Waarschuwing: Herlaad geen niet-herlaadbare
accu's.

Wees voorzichtig: raak geen kabels aan die
onder stroom staan, om dodelijke elektroshocks
te vermijden.

Raak het toestel niet aan wanneer het in gebruik
is: de behuizing wordt warm.

Bescherm het toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid
en opspattende vloeistoffen. Plaats geen object
gevuld met een vloeistof bovenop de acculader.

Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer het
toestel niet in gebruik is. Houd de voedingskabel
altijd vast bij de stekker en niet bij de kabel.

Draag een veiligheidsbril bij het hanteren van
accu’s.

• Dit toestel is geschikt voor gebruik door

kinderen vanaf 8 jaar, door personen met
fysieke, zintuiglijke of verstandelijke
beperkingen, of door personen met gebrek aan
ervaring en kennis, op voorwaarde dat dit
onder toezicht gebeurt van een persoon die
verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid of hun
aanwijzingen heeft gegeven, hoe zij het toestel
moeten gebruiken en zich bewust zijn van de
risico's die het gebruik van het toestel met zich
meebrengt. Kinderen mogen niet met het
toestel spelen. De reiniging en het onderhoud
van het toestel mogen niet worden uitgevoerd
door kinderen, tenzij ze onder toezicht staan.

• De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het

negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in deze
handleiding en uw dealer zal de
verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of
problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee
houden.

• De beschikbare netspanning mag niet hoger

zijn dan de spanning vermeld in de
specificaties achteraan de handleiding.

• De stroomkabels mogen niet omgeplooid of

beschadigd zijn. Laat uw dealer zo nodig een
nieuwe kabel plaatsen.

• Gebruik het toestel niet indien de behuizing of

de bekabeling beschadigd is. Probeer in geen
geval het toestel zelf te repareren maar
contacteer uw verdeler.

• Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft

aangebracht aan het toestel valt niet onder de
garantie.

• Open nooit de behuizing van de accu of van de

acculader.

• Stel het toestel nooit bloot aan zonlicht of hoge

temperaturen.

• Zuur kan bij het laden koken. Dit is niet

ongewoon. Laat niettemin de acculader
afkoelen en ontkoppel van het lichtnet. Zure
gassen zijn giftig. Niet inademen!

• Laad een accu in een goed geventileerde

ruimte.

• Herlaad geen accu’s met een hogere capaciteit

dan aangegeven in de technische specificaties.
Dit kan de lader beschadigen.

• Wees voorzichtig met batterijen.

• Bij rookontwikkeling of geur moet u de

acculader onmiddellijk van het lichtnet
ontkoppelen.

• Er zijn geen onderdelen in het toestel die door

de gebruiker gerepareerd kunnen worden.
Bestel eventuele reserveonderdelen bij uw
dealer.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

• Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie achteraan deze handleiding.

• Bescherm tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de bediening van het

toestel. Bescherm het toestel tegen extreme hitte, stof en vochtigheid.

• Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen. Schade door

wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan het toestel valt niet onder de
garantie.

• Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie vervalt automatisch

bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.

• De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde richtlijnen in

deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of
problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee houden.

• Noch Velleman nv noch zijn verdelers kunnen aansprakelijk gesteld worden voor

schade (buitengewoon, incidenteel of onrechtstreeks) – van welke aard dan ook
(financieel, fysisch…) voortvloeiend uit het bezit, gebruik of falen van dit product.

• Bewaar deze handleiding voor verdere raadpleging.

6. Voorbereiding

OPMERKING

Controleer altijd eerst de kabels en de klemmen alvorens de jumpstarter in gebruik te

nemen. Gebruik het toestel niet indien het beschadigd is!

• Ontkoppel de accu van het voertuig: ontkoppel eerst de negatieve pool en pas

daarna de positieve pool.

• Bij een natte accu controleert u best het waterniveau. Vul bij (gedistilleerd water)

indien nodig.

• Maak de polen schoon met een staalborstel of met schuurpapier.

• Sluit het toestel nog niet aan op het lichtnet.

• Koppel de positieve pool van de acculader (rood) met de positieve pool (+) van de

batterij. Zorg ervoor dat de klem goed bevestigd is.

• Verbind vervolgens de negatieve (zwarte) klem [8] met de negatieve pool (-) van

de accu. Zorg ervoor dat de klem goed bevestigd is.

7. Gebruik

• Het laadniveau wordt aangeduid door 3 leds op het frontpaneel van de acculader.

Raadpleeg de afbeeldingen op pagina 2 van deze handleiding.

• Bij een correcte aansluiting van de acculader met de accu licht de rode led [A] op.

Controleer de aansluiting en de zekering [D] indien dit niet gebeurt.

• Verwijder de vuldoppen van de accu alvorens de accu te laden.

• Koppel nu de acculader aan het lichtnet. Zorg voor een correcte ingangsspanning

(zie de technische specificaties hieronder).

• De rode led [A] blijft branden gedurende het hele laadproces.

• De gele led [B] geeft nu aan dat de acculader aan het lichtnet is aangesloten en

dat het laadproces is begonnen.

• Controleer de aansluiting met het lichtnet indien de gele led [B] niet oplicht.

• Indien de gele led [B] dooft tijdens het laadproces, dan zal het circuit onderbroken

zijn door de overbelastingsbeveiliging. Ontkoppel de acculader van het lichtnet en
laat hem gedurende 10 minuten afkoelen. Koppel daarna opnieuw aan het lichtnet.
Is de accu na meerdere uren nog niet geladen, vervang dan de accu.

• De groene led [C] licht op van zodra de accu geladen is. Merk op dat de groene

led [C] steeds helderder wordt naarmate de accu laadt.

• De acculader stopt niet automatisch. Ontkoppel de acculader van het lichtnet van

zodra de groene led [C] helder brandt.

• Ontkoppel de accu van de acculader. Begin met de negatieve klem (zwart) en

ontkoppel pas daarna de positieve klem (rood).

• Het lampje licht op wanneer de zekering [D] is gesprongen. Vervang de zekering op

het frontpaneel van de acculader door een identiek exemplaar. Ontkoppel eerst de
acculader van het lichtnet en van de accu. Verwijder de zekering uit de houder met
behulp van een schroevendraaier. Plaats een nieuwe zekering. Gebruik geen brute
kracht.

8. Reiniging en onderhoud

Voor het reinigen of onderhoud:

1. Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact.

2. Laat het toestel afkoelen.

• Ontkoppel altijd eerst de acculader alvorens het toestel te reinigen.

• Reinig de acculader nooit met water of een andere vloeistof.

• Vermijd gebruik van reinigingsmiddelen op basis van benzeen, trichloorethyleen,

chloride, ammoniak… om de plastic onderdelen niet te beschadigen.

• Controleer elke maand het niveau in de accu en vul bij indien nodig

• Gooi batterijen weg volgens de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.

un service de recyclage local. Respecter la réglementation locale relative à la protection

2. Consignes de sécurité

Lire et comprendre ce mode d'emploi et toutes
les consignes de sécurité avant d'utiliser
l'appareil.

Utiliser cet appareil uniquement à l'intérieur.

Un cordon d'alimentation endommagé doit être
remplacé par le fabricant, un technicien ou une
autre personne qualifiée pour éviter tout danger.

Connecter d'abord la cosse qui ne doit pas être
connectée au châssis. Connecter l'autre cosse au
châssis, loin de la batterie et de tout conduit de
carburant. Connecter le chargeur au réseau
électrique.

Déconnecter le chargeur du réseau électrique
après le chargement de la batterie. Ensuite,
déconnecter la cosse connectée au châssis et
enfin celle connectée à la batterie.
