If you are a new T-Mobile® customer and your service has
not been activated, simply call Customer Care at 1-800-9378997 from your landline phone and a T-Mobile Activations
representative will assist you.
You will need the following information when activating service:

Service Agreement and agent
code on your Agreement
n
Your name, home address, home
phone, and billing address
NOTE: For business and government accounts, please provide
the name of your company or government agency, address, and
tax ID.

Your Social Security number, current driver’s license
number, and date of birth for credit check purposes

ABC mode: This mode allows you to enter letters
by pressing the key with the corresponding letter.

Predictive text mode: This mode allows you to
enter words with only one press per letter. Predictive
text compares your key presses with an internal
dictionary to determine the most likely word.
n
Number mode: This mode allows
you to enter numbers.
n
Symbol mode: This mode allows you to enter
symbols, such as punctuation marks.
Place in predictive text mode:
While in a message, select Options > Input options >
Activate prediction.
Highlight text:
Press and hold the Shift key and then scroll to highlight the
word, phrase, or line of text you want to copy.
Copy and paste text:
When text is highlighted, press Ctrl + C. Move the cursor to
the desired location and press Ctrl + V.

sIm CaRd
Your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card identies you to
the wireless network. Your phone will not work without the SIM
card.
To insert the SIM card and battery:
1. Detach your SIM card.
2. Press the battery cover
release down and remove
the battery cover.
3. Slide the SIM card into the
SIM card slot with the
golden contacts facing
down and the notched
corner facing into the slot.
4. Align the golden contacts
on the battery with the
contacts in the battery
compartment. Push the
battery into place and
replace the battery cover.
mEmORy CaRd
Your phone comes with a removable microSD memory card
where you can store multimedia les such as video clips, music
tracks, sound les, and images.

Install the memory card
Pictures, videos, and music les are saved to the memory card
by default, when installed.
1. Open the memory card slot cover on the left side of your
phone.
2. Slide the memory card into the slot with the golden
contacts facing down and press until the card clicks into
place.
3. Close the slot cover.
Remove the memory card
Important: Do not remove the memory card when an
application is using it.
1. Before you remove the memory card, quickly press the
Power key.
2. Scroll to and select Remove memory card.
3. Select Yes.
4. To remove the memory card, gently press the card into
the slot until it clicks. Release the card and it will pop out
slightly.
5. Gently slide the card out of the memory card slot and
close the slot cover.
6. Select OK.

Plug the small end of the AC adapter into
the left side of your phone. Plug the AC adapter into a wall
outlet.

Tips for conserving battery life
Turn off applications not in use
If you leave an application by pressing the Home key or the red
End key, the application is left running in the background. To
exit an application completely:
1. Navigate to the running application
NOTE: Active applications are indicated by a green circle.
2. Select Options.
3. Select Exit.
Turn off Bluetooth
®
1. At the Home screen, select Menu.
2. Select Ctrl. panel.
3. Select Connectivity.
4. Select Bluetooth.
5. Select Turn Bluetooth off.
Reduce the backlight brightness
1. At the Home screen, select Menu.
2. Select Ctrl. panel.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select General.
5. Select Personalization.
6. Select Display.
7. Select Light Sensor.
8. Press the Navigation key right or left to the desired
setting and select Ok.
Shorten backlight timeout
1. At the Home screen, select Menu.
2. Select Ctrl. panel.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select General.
5. Select Personalization.
6. Select Display.
7. Select Light time-out.
8. Press the Navigation key right or left to the desired
setting and select Ok.

To turn the phone on or off, press and hold the Power key.

My Nokia is a free service that you can sign up to receive
tips and support information about your phone, as well as
important updates from T-Mobile and latest information on
Nokia products, services, and accessories.
When you rst power on your phone, you can select Accept at
the Welcome to My Nokia screen and follow instructions on the
screen to complete the sign up process.

Change Home screen mode
Business and Personal Home screen modes allow you to
quickly switch between a Home screen with business-centric
applications to a screen with applications that help you stay
connected.
1. At the Home screen, scroll right and select the Mode
application shortcut in the top right corner of the screen.

Unlock the keypad
1. Press the Left Soft key to select Unlock.
2. Press the Right Soft key to select OK.
Make a call
1. Unlock the phone.
2. Enter the phone number.
3. Press the green Send key .
Use Mute
While on a call, select Options > Mute or press the Voice
Command/Mute key on the right side of your phone.
To turn off, select Unmute or press the Voice Command/Mute
key on the right side of your phone.
Volume
Adjust call volume
While on a call, press the Volume keys up or down.
IMPORTANT: If you are unable to hear the caller you are talking to, press
the Volume key up.
Answer a call
Press the green Send key .
End a call
Press the red End key .
Use speakerphone
While on a call, select Loudsp.
To turn off, select Handset.
Adjust ringer volume
Press the Volume keys up or down while receiving a call. You
can also adjust the volume using the menu:
1. At the Home screen, select Menu.
2. Select Ctrl. panel.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select General.
5. Select Personalization.
6. Select Tones.
7. Select Ringing volume.
8. Press the Navigation key right or left to the desired
volume, then select OK.

Adjust speaker volume
While speaker is activated, press the Volume keys up or down.
Adjust media volume
While a video is playing, press the Volume keys up or down.
Voicemail
Use voicemail
To set up voicemail, press and hold the 1 key. Follow the
tutorial to nish setting up voicemail.
To reset the password to the last four digits of your phone
number, enter #793# and press the green Send key.
To call voicemail, press and hold the 1 key.
Use Visual Voicemail
With Visual Voicemail you can play and replay messages in any
order, save voice messages to your phone, choose how you
want to respond to messages, share special audio messages
using e-mail, and create personalized greetings.
Set up Visual Voicemail
1. At the Home screen, select
Menu.
2. Select Visual Voicemail.
3. Select Yes to activate and set
up.
4. Read the tips and select Start.
5. Set up a PIN and record a
greeting, if necessary.
Check Visual Voicemail
1. When you receive a new voicemail, you will see an alert
on your Home screen.
2. Select View.
3. Scroll to the desired voicemail and select Open, or at
Play All New select Open.
4. Select Play.
Reply to a Visual Voicemail
1. At the Home screen, select Menu.
2. Select Visual Voicemail.
3. Scroll to the desired message and select Open.
4. Select Options.
5. Select Reply As.
6. Select Call or Text Message.
