Plug the USB 2.0 cable (included) into the
adapter. Place the adapter on a flat surface in
an open area.
If you have not yet
set up your TiVo box...
You can tell whether you have the correct software version by
looking at the Welcome Screen (the first Guided Setup screen):
Plug the other end of the USB cable into one
of the USB ports on the TiVo box. The power
indicator ( ) lights when the cable is
connected.
If your TiVo box is
set up and running...
Check the software version
The TiVo Wireless USB Adapter requires TiVo software version
7.2.1 or higher. To check the software version on your TiVo box,
go to TiVo Central, select Messages and Setup, then System
Information. If the Software Version is 7.2.1 or higher, you can
skip to Step
.
Connect to a phone line
Connect the TiVo Box to a phone line.
Get new software
If the Welcome screen looks like this, Guided Setup includes steps
for configuring your TiVo Box to work with your Wireless USB
Adapter. After Guided Setup, go to TiVo Central, select Messages
and Settings, then System Information. If the Software Version is
lower than 7.2.1, only perform Step to the right (to make sure
you have the latest software).
If the Welcome screen looks like this, there are a few extra steps
to take. After you follow the instructions on the Start Here poster
and complete Guided Setup, continue with Step to the right.
The adapter's link indicator ( ) blinks slowly while it searches for your network. Once the adapter is connected, the link indicator stops
blinking. During data transmission, the indicator flickers rapidly. If you need help setting up your adapter, visit www.tivo.com/getready.
To get new software from the TiVo service:
a. From TiVo Central, select Messages & Setup, then
Settings, then Phone & Network.
b. Select "Connect to the TiVo service now." The connection
and download may take some time.
c. After the download, check the Phone & Network screen to
make sure the last status is "Pending Restart."
d. If the last status is not "Pending Restart" go to
www.tivo.com/adapters for further instructions.
e. Restart the TiVo Box (from TiVo Central, select Messages &
Setup, then Restart System).
Complete the Network Settings
From TiVo Central, select Messages & Settings, then Settings,
then Phone & Network. Select Change Phone & Network Settings,
then Network Settings. The onscreen instructions will help you
configure the adapter for your network. You'll need to know your
network name and WEP key (if applicable).
