Tile Redi® Installation Guide
Redi Niche® Recessed Shelves

To help you through the REDI NICHE® installation process, we have provided the following Installation Guide which is
intended to provide an easy-to-follow step-by-step process for the installation of your Tile Redi® REDI NICHE®
recessed shelf whether you are a professional or a novice. Please remember to comply with the recommendations
and standards established for such projects from time to time by the National Tile Council of North America, Inc.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR REDI NICHE®
Overview: first, we describe how to frame the niche: (1) in an existing finished wall, and (2) in a newly constructed

wall. Then we detail the rest of the steps: installing horizontal framing, screwing the niche into the framing, installing
the drywall (or backer board for a shower) around the niche, waterproofing the gap between the niche flange and
the backer board with a bead of silicon, and finally tiling the niche and wall.

1. Framing REDI NICHE® into an existing finished wall (if new construction, skip to paragraph 2):
a. Locate and mark the center of adjacent framing studs using a stud finder or by tapping the wall.
b. Draw a level line between the two wall studs.
c. Place the niche between the two marked studs with the flange walls flush against the wall and trace the

outline of the niche on the wall. Be sure the top and bottom lines are level.

d. Cut out the wall board along the traced lines between the two studs using a drywall saw and utility

knife.

2. Measure the distance between vertical studs. (Please note that the distance between the center lines of 2

adjacent studs generally is 16 inches and the niche is designed for that condition.)

a. If the distance is greater than 16 inches, attach vertical framing to one or both of the vertical studs to

accommodate the size of the niche.

b. If less than 16 inches, widen the framing to accommodate the niche.

3. Measure and cut top and bottom horizontal support framing to a length which permits each to run between

and to be fastened to both vertical studs.

4. Level and mechanically fasten the top and bottom horizontal support brackets to both adjacent vertical

studs so that the vertical dimension between the horizontal support framing matches the vertical dimension
of the predrilled fastening holes on the REDI NICHE® flange.

5. Place the REDI NICHE® in between the framing.

6. Level and mechanically fasten the REDI NICHE® using one framing screw in each pre-drilled hole.

7. Install your drywall or tile backer board around the REDI NICHE® so it’s in accordance with industry

standards.

8. Take 100% waterproofing silicone and seal the gap between the wall board and the REDI NICHE® and each of

the screw holes.

9. Now apply your setting material and set your tile, marble or stone directly to REDI NICHE® surface.

Working with one of our double, triple, or quadruple combination models? Simply place your additional niche(s)
directly beside, above or below each other. We recommend you complete framing for all niches before beginning to
screw any in.

tiene por objetivo proporcionarle un proceso de fácil instalación, paso a paso, para la instalación de su estante
empotrado REDI NICHE® de Tile Redi®, ya sea usted un profesional o un novato. Recuerde respetar las
recomendaciones y estándares para dichos proyectos establecidos por el National Tile Council of North America, Inc.
de tanto en tanto.

INSTRUCCIONES DE INSTALACIÓN PARA EL REDI NICHE®
Información general: Describiremos primero cómo enmarcar la celda: (1) en una pared terminada existente, y (2) en

una pared recientemente construida. Luego, detallaremos el resto de los pasos: la instalación de un marco
horizontal, cómo atornillar la celda dentro del marco, la instalación del panel (o panel posterior para una ducha)
alrededor de la celda, la impermeabilización del espacio entre el flanco de la celda y el panel posterior con una gota
de silicona, y el azulejado final de la celda y la pared.

1. Enmarcado de REDI NICHE® dentro de una pared terminada existente (si la construcción es nueva, pase al

párrafo 2):

a. Coloque y marque el centro de las columnas de metal adyacentes usando un localizador de columnas o

golpeando la pared.

b. Dibuje una línea de nivel entre las dos columnas de metal.
c. Coloque la celda entre las dos columnas marcadas con los flancos de la pared a nivel contra la pared y

trace el contorno de la celda sobre la pared. Asegúrese de que las líneas superior e inferior queden a
nivel.

d. Recorte la placa de pared a lo largo de las líneas trazadas entre las dos columnas usando una sierra para

tabiques y un cuchillo multiuso.

2. Mida la distancia entre las columnas verticales (Sírvase notar que la distancia entre la líneas del centro de las

dos columnas adyacentes es generalmente de 16 pulgadas y la celda ha sido diseñado para respetar esta
condición).

a. Si la distancia es mayor a 16 pulgadas, adjunte una estructura vertical a una o ambas columnas

verticales para alojar el tamaño de la celda.

b. Si la distancia es menor a 16 pulgadas, ensanche el marco para alojar la celda.

3. Mida el soporte horizontal superior e inferior hasta un largo que permita que cada uno quepa dentro y que

éstos se puedan asegurar a ambas columnas verticales.

4. Nivele y asegure mecánicamente los brazos horizontales de soporte superior e inferior a las columnas

verticales adyacentes para que la dimensión vertical entre el marco de soporte horizontal concuerde con la
dimensión vertical de los orificios de sujeción previamente perforados en el brida del REDI NICHE®.

5. Coloque el REDI NICHE® dentro del enmarcado.

6. Nivele y asegure mecánicamente el REDI NICHE®, usando un tornillo de bastidor en cada orificio

previamente perforado.

7. Instale su placa o panel posterior alrededor del REDI NICHE® para que cumpla con los estándares de la

industria.

8. Use silicona impermeable a un 100% y selle el espacio entre la placa de pared y el REDI NICHE®, al igual que

cada uno de los orificios de los tornillos.

9. Aplique ahora su material de sujeción y coloque su azulejo, mármol o piedra directamente en la superficie

REDI NICHE®.

¿Trabaja con uno de los modelos de doble, triple o cuádruple combinación? Simplemente coloque celda(s)
adicional(es) directamente al lado, por sobre o debajo de la otra. Recomendamos completar el marco para todas las
celdas antes de comenzar a atornillar alguna de estas dentro.
