INSTALLATION NOTE
1. GENERAL
The TII 231-2 Dual Connection Coaxial
Satellite Dish Surge Protector is specifically designed for satellite dish installations. The TII 231-2 protects the satellite dish, the receiver and the antenna from lightning induced surges.
The unit is furnished complete with necessary
hardware and requires no special tools for installation or maintenance.
Cable Requirement: Using the right size cable
will ensure proper operation of the product. The center conductor of coax cable used with this product should not be larger than .040 inches. Suitable adapters must be used that have center pin conforming to .040 inches requirement.
2. WARRANTY
See TII Warranty. If this unit fails during the warranty period, the factory should be requested to authorize return. Return the unit prepaid when authorization is received. Units that fail due to abuse or normal wear should be discarded.
3. INSTALLATION
Secure the TII 231-2 using three #8 wood
screws to the mounting areas (Figure 1).
Attach a #12 ground wire through the
grounding hole (Figure 1) and secure with the provided screw. Note: The grounding wire can be bare; if the wire is insulated, the color should be green. Follow proper grounding termination practices.
CAUTION: Risk of shock if not installed in a
listed outdoor/indoor enclosure.
NOTICE: The product is to be installed in a
listed enclosure, which has been tested for applicable environment.
National Electric Code Requirements: The
protector shall be installed per National Electric Code ANSI/NFPA 70, Article 800, Section C, and shall meet all other applicable local safety codes.
Attach drop “SERVICE” cable to “SATELLITE
IN 1” side of the protector as shown in Figure
1.
Attach “CUSTOMER/EQUIPMENT” cable to
the “RECEIVER 1” connector as shown in
Figure 1.
Follow previous 2 steps for multiple service
applications.
Dress and secure cables so that incoming
service / antenna and customer / equipment cables DO NOT cross each other. Bundling of the cables should be avoided.
