Installation Instructions: 600/900 Series
Deadbreak Connecting Plug
CONTENTS: Connecting Plug, Lubricant (DO NOT SUBSTITUTE), Installation Instructions.
The connecting plug is a power distribution product accessory designed for use on 600/900 series systems. The Connecting Plug can be mated with an elbow, bushing extender, vault stretcher or elbow end module.

These instructionsdo not attempt to provide for every possible contingency.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in damage to the product and serious or fatal injury.
This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in good safety practices involving high voltage electrical equipment. These instructions arenot intendedasasubstituteforadequatetrainingor experience in such safety practices.

All apparatus must be installed and operated in accordance with individual user, local and national work rules and electrical standards.
For loadbreak products follow operating instructions. Alldeadbreak connectors must bede--energizedbefore operating. All 200A deadbreak connectors must be mechanically secured with bails when connected.
If this product is supplied with a protective shipping cover(s), remove this shipping cover(s) and replace with the appropriate HV insulated cap(s) or connector(s) before submerging or energizing the circuit.
Inspect parts for damage, rating and compatibility with mating parts.
Excess distortion of the assembled product mayresult in its failure.
Limited Warranty:
1. T&B warrants that its products will be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of two (2) years, except for tools which are warranted separately (see warranty accompanying those products). Fisher PierceRproducts and ElastimoldRReclosers are warranted for three years; and Joslynt VBT and VBU capacitor switches are warranted for four years or 40,000 operations whichever occurs first. Upon prompt notification of a warranted defect, T&B will, at its option, repair or replace the defective product.
2. Inno event shall T&B be liableforany consequential,indirect orspecialdamages,nor will T&B be liablefortransportation, labor,or other charges arising out of the removal or reinstallation of its products. Liability for breach of warranty is limited to the cost of repair or replacement of the warranted product only.
3. Misuse, misapplication or modification of T&B products immediately voids all warranties.

IMPORTANT

2. Check all components to ensure proper fit with cable
and/or mating products.
3. Read entire installation instructions before starting.
4. Haveallrequired tools at hand andmaintain cleanliness throughout the procedure.
STEP 1
The elbow,bushing extender,vault stretcher andelbow end module come packaged with an uninstalled stud. If the mating plug device is not equipped with a stud, hand tighten the stud into the mating plug device. The stud must be threaded in until the start of the flats are below the contact surface.

Clean both the connecting plug and its mating part as indicated and lubricate with the lubricant supplied. DONOT SUBSTITUTE. Other lubricants may be harmful to the products. Be sure to keep surfaces of elbow and mating parts clean.

STEP 3
Push the connecting plug into the elbow, bushing extender, vault stretcher or elbow end module and engage the threads. The contact of the part should be held against the contact surface of the mating part.
Use a 600ATM or a 3/8” hex bit socket and torque wrench andtightenexerting50to 60 foot--pounds (68 to81 newton-­meters) of torque.

STEP 4
Continueby installingadditional elbow, bushing extender,or vaultstretcher, see instructionspackagedwith those products.
STEP 5 (If Applicable)
Insert one end of a No. 14 AWG (2.5mm) copper wire or equivalent thru the grounding eye on the connecting plug. Twist tightly taking care not to damage eye. Connect other end to ground.
