INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
THROUGH-FLOOR FITTING

BE SURE POWER IS OFF!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. THE THROUGH-FLOOR FITTING IS ONLY TO BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH A THOMAS & BETTS FIRE RESISTANCE CLASSIFIED, UL LISTED SERVICE FITTING (PEDESTAL). The system is designed to maintain the hourly rating of concrete oors having ratings of 1 to 4 hours, when installed in accordance with these installation instructions.
2. To maintain re resistance classication rating either of the following must be installed:
a) A complete Thomas & Betts service tting,
including the service tting base, electrical receptacle, and/or telephone-data cables, faceplates and service tting cover.
or
b) An abandonment kit, Catalog No. FPT415.
3. See product category “outlet boxes and ttings" classied for re resistance in the current Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.” “Fire Resistance Directory” for the re resistance classication of the Thomas & Betts Modular Poke-Through System.
4. All installations of UL listed Poke-Through service ttings have the following restrictions:
"Minimum of 2 ft. on center and not more than
one device per 65 sq. ft. of oor area in each span."
5. This through-oor tting will mount several types of Thomas & Betts UL listed service ttings which will accommodate different combinations of power, telephone and data. Determine location and orientation of mounting screw holes for the specic service tting chosen prior to boring installation hole. CONSULT THE ENCLOSED ADDENDUM FOR MORE DETAILS.

NOTE: It may be necessary to move or remove carpeting to allow proper installation of through-oor tting.
a) Core or bore a 3" diameter hole
through oor.
IMPORTANT: See Note 4 above.
b) Insert through-oor tting into hole
NOTE: Careful consideration must be given to nal pedestal location and orientation prior to engagement of retainer clips to ensure desired nal pedestal installation.
IMPORTANT: Not for use on bare concrete or oor coverings less than 1/4” thick.

a) Insert power divider into grooves on
inside walls of through-oor tting. Slide power divider down until it seats rmly on top of tting.

NOTE: Skip steps 2 and 3 when installing Flush Service Fitting, Cat. No. FPT441. To complete installation consult instructions supplied with Flush Service Fitting.

b) Install cover screws into top of
mounting screws. DO NOT TIGHTEN
SCREWS.
c)
If desired install electrical wires into plastic power tube. (Consult service tting instructions for maximum number of wires permitted). Leave at least 6” of slack wire in junction box to permit future receptacle installation in service tting. Press excess wire into junction box.
If Service Fitting or Abandonment Kit is being installed immediately, skip this step and proceed with installation instructions supplied with service tting or abandonment kit.
a) If carpet was removed in Step 1,
replace carpet now. Cut carpet to expose tops of screw.
b) Orient cover plate as shown and
place holes over top of screws. Lock cover plate in place by rotating

counterclockwise. Tighten screws to secure cover.
c)
Through-oor tting may be abandoned and still maintain a re rating by using Abandonment Kit Cat. No. FPT415.
STEP 3
WARRANTY: Thomas & Betts sells this product with the understanding that the user will perform all necessary tests to
determine the suitability of this product for the user's intended application. Thomas & Betts warrants that this product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years following the date of purchase. Upon prompt notication of any warranted defect, Thomas & Betts will, at its option, repair or replace the defective product or refund the purchase price. Proof of purchase is required. Misuse or unauthorized modication of the product voids all warranties.
Limitations and Exclusions: THE ABOVE WARRANTY IS THE SOLE WARRANTY CONCERNING THIS PRODUCT, AND IS
IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, WHICH ARE SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMED. LIABILITY FOR BREACH OF THE ABOVE WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO COST OF REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT, AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THOMAS & BETTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
