Installation Instructions: ECS -- Jacketed Cable Sealing Kit

Do not touch or move energized products in the work area.
These instructions do not attempt to provide for every possible contingency.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in damage to the product and serious or fatal injury.
This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in good safety practices involving high voltage electrical equipment. These instructions arenotintendedasasubstituteforadequatetrainingor experience in such safety practices.

All apparatus must be installed and operated in accordance with individual user, local and national work rules and electrical standards.
If this product is supplied with a protective shipping cover(s), remove this shipping cover(s) and replace with the appropriate HV insulated cap(s) or connector(s) before submerging or energizing the circuit.
Inspect parts for damage, rating and compatibility with mating parts.
Excess distortion of the assembled product may result in its failure.
Limited Warranty:
1. T&B warrants thatits products willbe free from defects in materials or workmanshipfor a period of two (2) years, except for toolswhich are warranted separately(seewarrantyaccompanying thoseproducts). FisherPierceproducts andElastimoldReclosersarewarranted for threeyears;and Joslyn VBTand VBUcapacitorswitchesare warrantedforfouryearsor 40,000operations whichever occursfirst. Uponpromptnotificationof awarranteddefect, T&B will, at its option,repair or replace thedefective product.
2. InnoeventshallT&B beliablefor any consequential,indirector specialdamages,nor willT&B be liablefor transportation,labor, orother chargesarising out of the removal or reinstallationof itsproducts. Liabilityfor breachof warranty is limited to thecost ofrepair or replacement of the warranted product only.
3. Misuse, misapplication or modification of T&B products immediately voids all warranties.

IMPORTANT
1. Check contentsof packageto ensure theyare complete
and undamaged.
2. Check all components to ensure proper fit with cable
and/or mating products.
3. Read entire installation instructions before starting.
4. Have all requiredtools at handand maintaincleanliness throughout the procedure.
IMPORTANT: Cutbackdimensions should be checked;exposedlengthof semi--con betweencablejacket and deviceend
should be no more than 2--1/2” (64mm).
STEP A
Remove cable jacket for a distance of 2--1/2” (64mm) more than cutback length for the cable semicon as stated in the manufacturer’s instructions. Wrap the first mastic strip around the cable jacket 0” to 1/4” from the end. Stretch as needed to completely encircle the cable. Bend the ground wires back over the mastic and along the jacket, pressing them into the mastic.
IMPORT ANT: Ground wires should not touch each other
when pressed into the mastic to allow a complete seal around each wire to prevent water ingress.

Wrap the second mastic strip over the ground wires above the previously applied mastic. Press mastic to fill voids.
Over wrap the mastic and wires tightly with two half--lapped layers of vinyl tape for a width of approximately 1--1/2”

(40mm). Prepare the cable end per the manufacturer’s instructions
for the elbow, joint or terminator.

Slide on the coldshrink tube with looseend away from theconnector. Install the elbow ,joint orterminator per manufacturer’s instructions.

For 200amp products, wrap the third mastic strip overlapping both the product end and the cable adapter, as shown. For600ampproducts, wrapthe third mastic stripimmediatelybelow theproduct over lappingthe cableentranceof thecable
adapter, as shown. For terminators, wrap the third mastic strip immediately below the stress cone, as shown. Over wrap mastic with two half--lapped layers of vinyl tape for both applications.
Pulllooseendfromback and unwind cordin clockwisedirectionuntilplasticcoreis flush withendofcold shrinktube. Slidecold shrink tubeinto position and continue to unwind cord inclockwise direction.Cold shrink tube willcollapse at product endfirst.
IMPORTANT: Tube must overlap elbow or joint end at least 1 inch (25mm) for a proper seal.

Connect the elbow, joint or terminator to the concentric neutral wires per manufacturer’s instructions.
