Product description
GlutaMAX™-1, L-alanyl-L-glutamine, is a dipeptide substitute for L-glutamine. GlutaMAX™-1 can be used as a direct substitute for
L-glutamine at equimolar concentrations in both adherent and suspension mammalian cell cultures with minimal or no adaptation.
GlutaMAX™-1 is highly soluble, heat-stable, and improves growth eciency and performance of mammalian cell culture systems.
GlutaMAX™-1 eliminates problems associated with the spontaneous breakdown of L-glutamine into ammonia during incubation, allowing
for longer lasting cultures. GlutaMAX™-1 supplement is also available pre-supplemented in a variety of media formulations.

Important information
• Formulated as a 200 mM (100X) L-alanyl-L-glutamine
dipeptide in 0.85% NaCl
Use
Direct equimolar substitution for L-glutamine in mammalian cell
culture.
Supplement with GlutaMAX™-1
1. Aseptically add the required molar concentration to culture
medium.
2. If a lag in growth is observed upon conversion to
GlutaMAX™-1, it is recommended to supplement the culture
media with GlutaMAX™-1 and L-glutamine at a 3:1 molar
ratio (e.g., for 8 mM final concentration, use 6 mM
GlutaMAX™-1 and 2 mM L-glutamine) for the first and
second passages during adaptation to the new culture
conditions.
