The problem below (melting the front end of the tip at the first piercing ) can be caused when the Pilot Return
Wire gets pinched in the power track, or “pinched inside the Torch barrel” or somewhere that it grounds out.
This makes the tip always connected to work (table or earth Ground), so current flows in the tip all during
the cut.

In this case the Pilot Return Wire connected from the Power Supply (PS) to the Remote Arc Starter
(RAS) had 2 arcing marks … further investigation shown that a big portion of the copper wire was
actually melted .. The arc marks were also observed at the cable chain (where the power track sits) …
a clear indication that the Pilot Wire got shorted to ground.
