S U B J E C T : Coolant Change – New Propylene Glycol Coolant Mixtures
Dear Customer,
Effective July 1, 2004, Thermal Dynamics is replacing all Ethylene Glycol (EG) based coolants with a new Propylene Glycol
(PG) based coolant which is more environmentally-friendly. The following products are affected by this:
7-2850 Standard Coolant
, 7-2959 Super Coolant, and 7-2853 Coolant Concentrate.
Propylene Glycol (PG) Coolant Mixture Technical Information:
All Thermal Dynamics genuine torch coolant mixtures are specifically designed to provide a cooling
medium and electrical protection for plasma cutting and welding torches. Any water cooled torch that
incorporates a DC current pilot arc could potentially suffer severe internal damage due to electrolysis if the
coolant ever becomes electrically conductive.
Thermal Dynamics uses de-ionized water with a resistance value of .4 megohm/cm or greater to inhibit it
from carrying an electrical current. Then various percentages of Propylene Glycol are added to the deionized water, increasing the freezing resistance of the coolant.
The new PG Coolants are colored “RED” to simplify identification and make it easy to see the coolant
level in the reservoir.
Each PG Coolant mixture is shipped in 2- container packs
. Coolant is priced by the gallon - minimum 2
gal. purchase.
