SAFETY
WARNING: FOR YOUR PROTEC TION, ALWAYS UNPLUG THE UNIT FROM THE POWE R
SOURCE BEFOR E INSTALLING OR SERVICING. SHOU LD THE UNIT APPEAR TO BE NOT
WORKING, D O NOT ATTEMPT TO REACH , REMOVE, OR DISASSEMBLE B EFORE DISCONNECTING IT FRO M THE POWER SOURCE.
1. ALWAYS use a properly grounded AC outlet. Do not immerse the ClearSolution™ lter’s plug in
water or attempt to use a wet plug.
2. Provide a “drip loop” for the power cord. This is a loop in the cord below the level of the receptacle
or plug that prevents water from traveling along the cord in the direction of the receptacle.
3. Be sure that a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is installed in the branch circuit supplying the
pond equipment.
4. NEVER remove the ground pin from the plug.
5. The lter is not suitable for use in swimming pools, swimming ponds, or other situations where
humans may make bodily contact with the water.
6. The power cable cannot be replaced. If the power cable becomes damaged, the lter should be
discarded.
7. Avoid contact with the UV-C light. Light omitted can be harmful to the eyes and skin. To avoid
overheating do not run the bulb if the lter is not submerged in water.
IMPORTANT: The Pond Guy®, Inc. is not responsible for losses , injury or death resulting from a failu re to follow these safety precauti ons, misuse or abuse of eq uipment.

INSTALLATION
This lter i s designed to be run 24 hrs a day. Operat ing this unit any less may resu lt
in poor water quality. After you have connected the appropriate fountain head and/or diverter
valve your lter is ready for operation. Simply place the lter directly in the pond and connect the
power cord for pump and UV into a power outlet. For best results the lter should be placed on a
at surface away from sludge or algae mats. Once in the pond, adjust fountain nozzle assembly so
the fountain spray is vertically upright.
MAINTENANCE
Step 1 (Servicing the Filter):
Unplug the lter and remove it from the pond. Unscrew the
diverter and fountain assembly (Figure A) then remove the
cover by unlocking the lter housing at the opposite end of
the lter (See gure B). You will not be able to service the lter
until the diverter valve and/or fountain head is removed.
Step 2 (Cleaning the Filter):
The amount of sh in your pond will determine how
frequently you will need to clean your lter. Clean the lters
simply by using pond water to rinse the lter sponge and
bio media (if needed). Do not use chlorinated tap water or
detergents (See Figure C).
Step 3 (Cleaning the Pump):
Always clean the lter rst and check ow rate
before cleaning the pump. Remove pump from lter
housing (See Figure D). Turn the front of the pump housing
counterclockwise, extracting the impeller, be careful not to
lose any internal parts (See gures E & F). Wash all parts with
clean water and check for wear or debris that would reduce
water ow. After the pump is cleaned replace all parts paying
close attention to proper placement of all components.
Step 4 (Cleaning UV Glass Tube/Changing UV-C Bulb):
The glass tube where the UV-C bulb is housed should be
kept clean. If debris or calcium is allowed to build-up on
the glass tube it will greatly reduce the eectiveness of the
UV-C bulb. Remove the UV unit from the lter housing and
unscrew the wired cap counterclockwise (See gures G &
H). After removing the cap (careful not to touch bulb with
bare hands to avoid nger prints) you can then remove the
glass tube from the UV unit by twisting the top half from the
bottom half (See gures I & J). Clean glass tube with a soft
cloth or sponge (See gure K). If you are replacing your bulb,
be sure to remove the bulb by pulling on the base of the bulb
(See gure L) and not the glass. Replace glass tube and bulb
carefully so a watertight seal will be made.
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
The lter should not be operated if there is a chance of water
freezing. If you are in a climate where water freezes, drain the
lter and bring into and area where it can be protected from
freezing temperatures.
