IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following :
1. Read all instructions.
3. To protect against electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by the appliance manufacturer as it may cause injuries.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance
containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
12. Always attach plug to appliance first (for models with removable cord), then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off” (for selected models with On/Off swtich or adjustable thermostat), then remove the plug from wall outlet.
13. Do not use appliance for other than its intended use.
14. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS A. Ashort power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the
risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
B. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords
are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
C. If a longer detachable power-supply cord or extension cord
is used,
1) the marked electrical rating of the cord set or the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and
2) the cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
D. Do not clean this product with a water spray or the like. E. If the appliance is of grounded type, the extension cord
should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.
1. Remove any packaging, stickers or accessories inside and outside of the appliance.
2. Place the appliance on the middle of the table,
out of the reach of children.
Place the appliance on a firm, sturdy table: do not use the appliance on a soft or unsteady base.
Never place the appliance on an unsteady or fragile surface (glass table, table cloths, varnished furniture…).
3. Place the grilling-stone onto heating element, polished side (large chamfer side) facing upwards.
Never place the stone onto the warm heating element.
Only use the stone that comes with the appliance or purchased at a certified service centre. This stone is intended only for use with this appliance.
Never place aluminum paper or any other part under the stone, or between heating element and reflector.
Installation
Thank you for purchasing this T-FAL appliance. Whatever your model, please read the instructions carefully and keep them on hand.
Unwind the cord completely.
Check that your electric installation is compatible with the power and the voltage indicated under the appliance.
Connect the appliance to a plug with an earth connection.
Models with fixed cord : if the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
Connect the cord on the appliance (depending on model) then plug into the wall socket.
Be cautious how you place the cord, so that it does not get in the way of guests moving around the table.
Never plug the appliance in when not in use.
Do not leave the appliance switched on while unattended.
Connection and pre-heating
T-FAL reserves the right to modify the characteristics or components of its products at any time, in the interests of consumers.
Models with on/off switch :
Put the switch to on : the indicator will light up.
Models with thermostat :
Set the thermostat to the max position.
Other models :
The appliance works once plugged into the wall socket.
Allow appliance to pre-heat for 20 to 30 minutes maximum.
On the first ten uses, pour a small amount of corn oil onto the stone and wipe off with a paper towel. This seasoning will minimize food sticking to the stone.

After pre-heating, the appliance is ready for use :
Have each guest place slices of meat, fish, vegetables or fruit onto the stone and have them cook food to their desired taste.
Never place frozen or heavy food on the warm stone.
Never place the stone in contact with acidic foods such as vinegar products, mustard, pickled gerkins, pickles…
Do not place objects (other than food) on the stone.
Do not leave the empty appliance switched on for more than 30 minutes; the stone will be too hot for proper food preparation.
Any small cracks or fissures are due to the stone expansion and are natural and will not affect the function of the appliance. They are not defects.
After a few uses, the stone will permanently turn a darker, deeper colour.
During first use, the appliance may give off a slight odour and smoke.
Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
Use about 200 g of food per person : using only use fresh products.
Trim fat from meat. Debone fish. Cut the shellfish in half.
Cut meat, fish, vegetables or fruits in slices of about 1/2 cm thick and 5 to 6 cm long : cooking of usual pieces is not an optimum way of use of the appliance.
