GENERAL
Keep these operating instructions always at hand.
Heed all warnings labelled onto the device and specified in the operating instructions.
Do not allow children to play with electrical equipment without supervision.
AMBIENT CONDITIONS
Protect the device against humidity and heat.
Make sure that no foreign bodies or fluids get into the device.
Do not expose the device to dripping water or splash water.
Take care that the ventilation of the power supply unit is not obstructed by objects such as curtains.
POWER SUPPLY
Connect the mains adapter always to a mains socket 230 V ~ 50 Hz which is easily accessible.
The DC output of the mains adapter must be connected exclusively to the DC input jack of the device.
Use only the mains adapter supplied. Never attempt to connect the mains adapter to other jacks, as this could lead to
serious damage.
CHARGING OPERATION
Only charge NiCd batteries of size R6/ LR6/ AA.
Never attempt to recharge non-chargeable batteries (explosion hazard!).
CAR CONNECTION
When connecting the car adapter, observe the voltage and polarity indicated.
The car adapter supplied should only be used with a fuse T 1A L.
CD PLAYER
The CD player is a Class 1 laser product.
The unit is equipped with a safety system preventing the emergence of dangerous laser beams
during operation as intended. Never manipulate or damage the safety system of the device to avoid
any eye injuries.
MALFUNCTIONING
If the mains adapter, the connection cable or the device is damaged, unplug the mains adapter from the mains socket
immediately.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to open or repair this device on your own.
Refer all servicing to our Service Centre or another qualified service shop.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Defective NiCd rechargeable batteries and discharged batteries should not be disposed of with household
waste, but at the designated collection points.

Connect the mains adapter to the CD player and an easily accessible mains socket 230 V ~ 50 Hz. Your CD
player is now ready for operation.
Insert 2 nickel-cadmium batteries (not included in scope of delivery), observing the correct polarity. Pay attention
to the notes on page 4!
Insert two 1.5 V mignon cells R6/LR6 (not included in the scope of delivery) in the battery compartment (see
page 4). Mind the polarity. Your CD Player is now ready for operation.
BATTERY OPERATION
OPERATION WITH RECHARGEABLE NiCd BATTERIES
If the indicator starts flashing, the capacity of the batteries or rechargeable
batteries will be exhausted soon.
OPERATION VIA MAINS ADAPTER
OPERATION VIA EXTERNAL AUDIO SYSTEM
Connect the LINE OUT cable with the LINE OUT jack of your CD player and the CD or AUX jacks of the audio
system.
Turn the VOLUME control to minimum and connect the stereo earphones to the PHONE jack. Now adjust the
volume according to your wishes.

To charge the batteries, exclusively use the included mains adapter. Connect the mains adapter to the CD player
and an easily accessible mains socket 230 V ~ 50 Hz. The charging operation starts and the red charging LED
at the side of the unit lights during the charging. After some 15 hours the rechargeable batteries are fully
charged. After the charging process, disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket and the DC plug
from the input jack.
CHARGING OF NiCd BATTERIES IN UNIT
OPERATING MODES
Make sure to switch off the audio system prior to connecting the CD player.
You can connect your CD player to an external audio system such as the receiver of your stereo system to play
your CDs via this equipment.

To switch on the device and start playback at the same time, press PLAY/PAUSE
. "- -" will start flashing for a few seconds in the display. Additionally, the
symbol for the 60 second memory will appear. Then the total number of the
tracks and the total playback time will appear for a short time.
Playback then starts. The current track number and the actual playback time
already spent are shown in the display.
At the same time, the 60 second memory begins to fill for the anti shock function
(see "ESP FUNCTION", page 9). The display is filled with beams.
Adjust the volume through the volume control button VOLUME.
Open the CD compartment by sliding the OPEN CD switch to the right. Insert a CD with the labelled side facing
upwards. Ensure that the CD is engaged.
Close the CD compartment.
Do not open the CD compartment while the CD is still playing or rotating.
Before opening, press the STOP
button twice.

OPERATION IN THE CAR
Connect the adapter cable for the cigarette lighter to the DC input jack of the CD player. Connect the cigarette
lighter adapter to the cigarette lighter. Then, you connect the audio adapter cassette to the PHONE jack of the
CD player and insert the adapter cassette into the cassette compartment. Make sure during installation that
the adapter cassette is correctly clicked into position in the cassette compartment. Turn your car radio to cassette
playback.
In individual cases, problems might occur during the operation of the adapter cassette. In this
case, please contact our Service Centre.

There are many non-standardised CD-recording procedures and copy protection
procedures now in use, and many different kinds of CD-R and CD-RW blanks.
Therefore in some cases read errors or read delays may be encountered. This
is not a defect of the device.

The ESP function is provided to compensate vibration and ensure uninterrupted
playback also when moving the device ("ESP" - "Electronic Shock Protection"). Any
defects of the disc can, of course, not be compensated by this function.
When switching on the unit, the 60 second memory starts automatically to be filled.
The ESP display is blank at first. If the display is completely filled with beams, the
60 second memory has been charged.
NOTES: The ESP function should always be switched on when the device is moving.
If you do not require the memory, press ESP to switch it off and save battery charge.
If you wish to briefly stop playback, press PLAY/PAUSE
;
the display of the playback time actually spent flashes. Press
PLAY/PAUSE once more to start playback again.
Press the STOP
button once for the stop mode. The total number of tracks and the total playback time
of the CD will appear in the display. Press the STOP
, button twice to turn off the unit.
If no function keys are actuated within a period of 60 seconds during the stop mode, the CD player will
automatically be switched off.
SKIP/SEARCH TRACK SKIP - FAST SEARCH FUNCTION
SKIP/SEARCH allows you to skip or search tracks.
To get to the beginning of the running track, press SKIP/SEARCH
. To get to the next track, press
SKIP/SEARCH .
To start the fast search function backward or forward, keep the SKIP/SEARCH
or button pressed.
You can programme up to 20 tracks for a playback sequence. To do this, the unit
must be in the stop mode (if necessary, press the STOP button once).
Press the PROG button. The programme indication "PROG" and the track number
00; as well as the sequence number stored 01 are displayed in the flashing mode.
PROGRAM - PROGRAMMING THE PLAYBACK SEQUENCE OF TRACKS
Now, select with or the track to be played first. Press PROGRAM to store
the desired track under sequence number 01. Then sequence number 02 appears.
With
or select the next track, etc.
Press PLAY/PAUSE to start playback of your stored tracks.
The stored contents can be deleted either by switching off the unit or by opening the CD compartment.

HOLD - KEY LOCK
If you want to prevent unintentional pressing of a button, set the key lock HOLD to the position ON. The
display shows Hold.
To release the key lock, set the switch to OFF.
MODE FUNCTIONS
By repeatedly pressing the MODE button, you can activate 4 different playback modes:
Press MODE once: The current track is repeated. Press MODE twice: The complete CD is repeated.
Press MODE three times: "Intro" function. Press MODE four times: Random playback.
When pressing MODE a fifth time, you return to normal playback.
REPEATING ONE TRACK OF THE CD
Press the MODE key once during playback. The repeat symbol 1 appears in the
display. The current track is repeated over and over again.
Stop the function by pressing MODE four times.
REPEATING ALL TRACKS OF THE CD
Press the MODE key twice during playback. The repeat symbol ALL appears in the
display. The complete CD is repeated over and over again.
Stop the function by pressing MODE three times.
TRACK INTRO PLAY FUNCTION "INTRO"
During the stop mode, press the MODE button three times until INTRO appears in
the display. Then start the playback by pressing PLAY/PAUSE. The first ten seconds
of all tracks are now played in sequence.
If the INTRO function is activated during playback, it will start after finishing the current track.
Stop the function by pressing MODE twice.
PAUSE STOP
BBS - BASS AMPLIFIER
Actuate the BBS button to amplify basses. Press BBS once: single amplification. Press BBS twice: double
amplification. Press BBS three times: bass amplification off.
ALL
INTRO
RANDOM PLAYBACK - "SHUFFLE"
Press the MODE key four times during playback. SHUFF appears
in the display. After finishing the current track, each of the remaining
tracks will be played in random order.
When pressing MODE four times during the stop mode, the
random playback is started by pressing PLAY/PAUSE. Stop the
function by pressing MODE once.
