CAUTION
Leaking battery acid may lead to chemical burns.
– Store both new and used
batteries so that they are not accessible to children.
– Do not allow battery acid to
come into contact with skin, eyes or mucous membranes. In the event of contact with battery acid, immediately flush the applicable areas with plenty of clean water and consult a physician if necessary.
Batteries (particularly lithium batteries) can explode if used improperly.
– Never attempt to recharge
batteries.
– Only use batteries of the
same or equivalent type.
– Never heat or short circuit
batteries or rechargeable batteries, or dispose of them in fire.
– Do not expose batteries and
rechargeable batteries to direct sunlight.
In order to operate the remote control, you will need two type AAA or micro batteries with 1.5 Volt (included in the pack contents).
You should change the batteries if the remote control stops working properly or after 2 years at the latest.
Inserting batteries
1. Gently push the battery compartment cover (42) in the direction of the arrow until it pops open.
2. If applicable, remove any old batteries (please observe the disposal notes on page 5).
3. Insert the new batteries according to the image on the battery compartment; make sure the polarity is correct.
4. Put the cover back in place and push it closed.

Setup And Connection
NOTICE
If the device is subjected to warm temperatures after being cold (e.g. after transport), condensation may occur inside of it.
– In this case, wait approx. 2
hours before you connect and activate it.
Location tips
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free from dust.
• Select a location away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
• The device should have approx. 10 cm of clearance on all sides to ensure adequate circulation of air.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the cables or the device.
CAUTION
Risk of injury/damage!
– Lay the cables so that they do
not pose a tripping hazard.
Antenna
You can use the enclosed throw-out antenna to receive DAB+ and FM at the same time.
⑤⑥
17
1. Insert the antenna in the DAB/FM jack (17) and screw the union nut tight.
2. Change the position of the throw-out antenna until the reception for both bands (FM and DAB+) is optimal.
3. Then fix the loose end with tape or a nail.
– Of course, you can also connect
an active room or roof antenna for DAB/FM to the DAB/FM jack (17).
CAUTION
Risk associated with lightning strike!
– If you are using outdoor or
roof antennas, be absolutely sure that the antenna system has lightning protection.
– With the enclosed antenna adapter
, you can also connect the KB 62 CR with a cable connection, but it is not possible to receive DAB+ with it.

Inputs for source devices
Analogue sources
The KB 62 CR offers three inputs for analogue audio sources:
AUX 1 RCA jacks (26), back side
AUX 2 IN RCA jacks (16), front side
LINE IN
3.5 mm jack plug socket (15), front side
26 16 15
You can connect a source device with analogue sound to each of these inputs (e.g. a MP3 player or a TV set).
Digital source
You can connect the optical digital sound output of a source device to the OPTICAL IN jack (22). You will need an optical cable with a TOSLINK plug for this. Your source device requires either an optical 3.5 mm plug or also a TOSLINK plug.
22
Record player
Most record players can be connected to one of the aforementioned analogue inputs.
The usually more expensive magnetic (MM – “Moving Magnet”) or dynamic pick-up systems (MC – “Moving Coil”), require substantial amplification. This is provided by the PHONO input (25). The GROUND point (24) connects the ground line of the record player.
25
24
Speaker outputs
If possible, use the enclosed cables or a comparable high-quality, double-core speaker wire with a diameter of at least 0.75 mm2 to connect the speakers. You can order corresponding cables in our webshop (www.teufelaudio.com) in the “Accessories” area.
Connect the speakers to the SPEAKERS connector terminal (23).
23
Page 16
16
• KB 62 CR
NOTICE
Make sure the polarity is correct! Otherwise, the sound quality will suffer.
– Connect the like-coloured
terminals.
– The strands of the speaker
cables are marked with different colours or shapes.
1. Split the single wire down to approximately 30 mm and remove about 10 mm of the insulation on each strand. Twist the single wire so that no strands are protruding. Tin coating is not necessary.
2. Turn the connector terminal (23) counterclockwise until loose.
3. Run the stripped cable end into the now visible hole.
4. Close the terminal by turning it counter-clockwise. The cable has now been clamped in place.
– You can also connect the speakers
with pin plugs. For this, pull off the rubber caps on the connector terminals.
Subwoofer
You can connect an active subwoofer to the SUB jack (28) with an RCA cable.
28
REC OUT
The unregulated stereo audio signal is available at the jacks REC (27). You can connect an analogue recording device to it or even supply a second room with sound using active speakers or a wireless transmission system. You will need a stereo cable with RCA plugs to do so.
Headphones
With the KB 62 CR, you can connect stereo headphones to two jacks:
• Jack (7) on the front side for 3.5 mm jack plugs
• PHONES jack (21) on the back for
3.5 mm jack plugs
721
27
Page 17
17
• KB 62 CR
When connecting headphones to the jack
(7), the speakers and the subwoofer output (28) are automatically switched off.
However, the speakers remain active for the PHONES jack (21) on the back. This jack is therefore specially intended for cordless headphones or Bluetooth transmitters, which are continually connected with the KB 62 CR.
CAUTION
Extended listening at high volumes may lead to hearing loss.
– To avoid damage to health,
avoid extended listening at high volumes.
Risk of injury/damage!
– Lower the volume before you
pull the headphone plug out again; otherwise, the speakers may emit unexpected high sound pressure. This could injure your hearing or damage the device.
Mains connection
1. If necessary, ensure that the main power switch POWER (29) is switched off (“OFF” position).
29
24
2. Insert the IEC power plug of the mains cord③ into the POWER jack (30).
3. Insert the mains plug in a mains power socket (230 V ~/50 Hz).

Via Bluetooth®, you can wirelessly connect a compatible external player with the KB 62 CR. The audio output of your external player is then emitted by the KB 62 CR.
The Bluetooth® wireless transmission system has a range of approximately 10 metres that is limited by walls and furnishings. If the connection is cut off, the KB 62 CR will attempt to reestablish a connection until you select another source.
NOTICE
– Only use the Bluetooth®
function in locations where wireless radio transmission is allowed.
– Please keep in mind that the
Bluetooth
®
behaviour may differ depending on the external player’s operating system.
Bluetooth
®
options
Depending on the device type, your external player/smartphone may also have a menu for Bluetooth® options such as media playback. Here you can activate and deactivate the desired options. You can find more information about the Bluetooth® options in the user manual for your external player/smartphone.

Pairing
To play the audio of your external player on your KB 62 CR via Bluetooth®, you must first connect the devices with each other. The technical term for this is “pairing.” The KB 62 CR provides manual and automatic pairing via NFC
®
.
Manual pairing
1. Turn on the Bluetooth® function on your external player (e.g. smartphone).
2. Use the BT button (2/32) to select the “Bluetooth” input on the KB 62 CR.
The message “BT Input Mode" will appear on the display (4).
3. If the KB 62 CR is not connected to an external player, pairing will start automatically and the message “Pairing” will appear on the display (4). Otherwise push the BT button (2/32) and hold it down for approx. three seconds to start the pairing process.
4. Let your external player/your smartphone scan for Bluetooth® devices. You will find more information about this in the user manual of your external player. After the search run, the “Teufel KB 62” should also be shown in the list of detected devices.
5. Select “
Teufel KB 62
” from the list
of detected devices.
6. If your external player asks for a code, enter “0000” (four zeros).

®
.
1. Switch the NFC® function on your source device on (Bluetooth® does not have to be turned on on the source device).
2. Hold your source device close to the NFC® contact zone on the front side of the KB 62 CR (see fig. right). After a short time, you will be asked to allow the NFC connection.
3. Confirm the request on your source device. Pairing is now complete and your KB 62 CR will now act as a Bluetooth® playback device. The KB 62 CR will now play back all sounds that would otherwise be played by your source device/ smartphone.
Restoring the connection with a paired external player
If your KB 62 CR was previously connected to the external player, it is no longer necessary to switch it to pairing mode to connect again. Simply selecting it on your external player from the list of paired devices is enough.
Interruption of connection
If your KB 62 CR moves out of the range of your external player, the Bluetooth
®
connection will be interrupted. The connection will be re-established automatically when you are back within range.

Care And Cleaning
NOTICE
External influences may damage or destroy the device.
– If the device is to be left unat-
tended for a prolonged period of time (e.g. during a vacation) or if a thunderstorm is forecast, pull the mains plug out of the socket. Otherwise, sudden overvoltage could cause a defect.
– If possible, only use plain
water without any additives. In case of stubborn marks, a mild soap solution may be used.
– Do not use caustic cleaning
products, white spirit, thinners, petrol or similar under any circumstances. Such cleaning agents may damage the delicate surface of the housing.
– Ideally, you should remove dust or
small amounts of dirt with a dry, smooth leather cloth.
– Use a damp cloth to rub off stub-
born dirt. Make sure that no liquid penetrates the housing.
– Then immediately wipe the damp
surfaces off with a soft cloth without applying pressure.

• KB 62 CR
Problem Possible cause Solution When
connecting a USB device, “Not supported” appears on the display.
The file format of the USB device is not supported. The KB 62 CR supports the FAT16 and FAT32 file systems.
Use a USB device with a suitable file system.
USB device is not recognised.
The rear USB port (20) is used, which is only intended for the supply of power/ charging.
Only use the front USB port (14) to play back audio files.
The power consumption of the connected USB device is too high (> 1 A).
Connect an additional power supply to the USB device.
The subwoofer hums.
The KB 62 CR is connected to a different power circuit from the rest of the system.
Connect the KB 62 CR to the same power circuit.
The hum is due to line disturbance.
Buy a line filter and connect all devices to it.
The humming is caused by a multiple socket strip.
Use a different multiple socket strip or connect the KB 62 CR directly to the wall socket.
Playback is noisy.
Generally speaking, the KB 62 CR is a very low-noise system. A device with very high resolution in the high range area can expose the poor quality of a signal source (e.g. from MP3 files).
Make sure that the external player emits a clear signal to the KB 62 CR.
