Setup and connection
Setup location
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free from dust.
• Avoid placing the unit close to sources of heat or in direct sunlight.
• Arrange the connector cables so that they do not pose a trip hazard.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the cables, the speakers or the device.
• The device should have approx. 10 cm of clearance on all sides to ensure adequate circulation of air.
Setting up the speakers

Connecting the speakers
Use the enclosed coloured speaker cables to connect the speakers. You can order longer cables if you need them in our webshop (www.teufel.de) in the “Accessories” area.
17
The coloured connector terminals 17 “Speakers” for the 3 speakers are located on the back side of the receiver:
Colour Speaker Label
red/black Front right R white/black Front left L purple/black Subwoofer SUBWOOFER
The speaker terminal clips and the enclosed speaker cables are marked with the same colours.
Make sure the polarity is correct!
Connect the like-coloured terminals. Otherwise the sound quality will suffer.
Stereo speakers
The front speakers are set up to the right and left of the screen or hung at a height of approx. 40 to 120 cm. They should form an equilateral triangle with the listener – the so-called stereo triangle (distance from the listener = distance between the speakers). The speakers should project sound directly into the room or slightly towards the listener.
Subwoofer
You can freely select the location of the subwoofer, this does not affect the other speakers. However, do not place it in the corner of a room as this may cause uncontrollable frequency overloads. A location between the front speakers is often ideal.
Now push down the respective connector terminal lever and run the cable end into the corresponding opening. Releasing the lever locks the cable in place.

Analogue picture signal ( FBAS) via an RCA cable. Here, analogue sound can be issued via the RCA jacks 21 “L R” too.
Digital audio outputs
22
You can, for example, connect the sound output of your television set to one of these inputs to enjoy audio playback from the receiver as well when watching television shows. Consult the operating instructions of your television for this.
18 AUX IN 1 and 2
Here you can connect one source device with analogue sound each. You will need a stereo RCA cable (L and R) for this.
Connecting to a power supply
16
Connect the mains connection jack 16 via the power cord
with an easily accessible socket.
22 COAXIAL/23 OPTICAL
You can connect the coaxial or optical digital sound input from an external source, e.g. a home cinema system or a recorder, here. You will need a coaxial cable with RCA plugs for the coaxial connection. You will need an optical cable with TOSLINK plug for the optical connection. Your external device requires an optical 3.5 mm plug or a TOSLINK plug too.

“ Network test”
The receiver performs various tests and displays the respective result on the screen. You can abort the tests at any time with “Abort”.
Once all tests are complete, the Internet connection is functional. Otherwise the receiver will indicate any error sources on the screen.
“ Hard-wired”
Once accessed, the current “IP settings” will appear fi rst of all:
Link status: “Link Up” indicates that a network device is
electronically linked to the receiver while “Link Down” indicates that there is no connection or that there is a connection error. Only for the purpose of information and cannot be changed.
MAC address: This is the hardware address of the
Ethernet interface, which is important when connecting to the router. Only for the purpose of information and cannot be changed.
IP mode: “Dynamic” – The receiver automatically re-
quests the necessary settings from a router (via DHCP). Recommended setting, then no other information is necessary. Prerequisite: Active DHCP server (e.g. router) on the network. “Manual” – The IP address and all other values must be set. These settings should only be made by a professional. Net mask: With the net mask, the receiver recognises
which addresses it reaches on its own network and which it only reaches via the gateway (router). Consists of four number series, each between 0 and 255, e.g.
255.255.255.0.
Gateway: Network address of the gateway (router), which monitors the Internet connection.
Primary DNS: Network address of the domain name server, which locates the corresponding IP address for domain names (e.g. www.teufel.de). Comparable with a phone book.
Secondary DNS: As above, it is used if the primary DNS fails.
To abort, push the button 42 “Return”. To accept the entries, select the item “Apply” and push the enter button

USB mode
Your new receiver can read USB memory sticks with the specifi cations USB 1.0 and 2.0 and a capacity of up to 8 gigabytes and play back music fi les in MP3 format or WMA and photos in JPEG format that are saved on it.
USB stands for “universal serial bus”. Every modern computer has a USB port for connecting a keyboard and mouse. USB storage sticks were originally developed as an alternative to computer diskettes and enable convenient data transport. These convenient sticks can now also be used with digital cameras and music playback devices.
Handling mobile storage devices
USB sticks are sensitive electronic devices and must therefore be handled with care. If you are not using your storage device, be absolutely sure to store it in its protective sleeve or have its protective cap on.
Important
Do not use any storage devices that exhibit
mechanical damages or have fallen in a liquid. Do not subject the storage devices to direct sunlight. Improper use may result in data loss! To the extent possible, backup your music on your PC.
