Location tips
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free
from dust.
• Select a location away from heat sources and direct
sunlight.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the DecoderStation 6 or on the cables.
The receiver for the remote control signals is located
at the front of the device. You should therefore set
up the device so that you can see it from your sitting
position.
WARNING
Risk of injury/damage!
Lay the cables so that they do not pose a tripping
hazard.
FM antenna
WARNING
Risk associated with lightning strike!
If you are using outdoor or roof antennas, be absolutely sure that the antenna has lightning protection.
To receive FM stations, connect the antenna to the
FM jack (6). This may be a roof/outside antenna, but
also a cable television connection. You will need a
coaxial connector cable for this.
If no antenna connection is available at the set-up location, you can use the enclosed throw-out aerial 햵.
Push the antenna plug into the FM jack (6) and adjust
the position of the throw-out aerial for best reception.
Then fix the antenna in place.

Inputs for source devices
The DecoderStation 6 offers four HDMI inputs for
digital audio/video signals (HDMI 1, 2, 3 and 4), three
analogue audio inputs (AUX 1, 2 and 3), as well as
two coaxial and two optical digital audio inputs.
HDMI 1, 2, 3 and 4
You can connect a HDMI source device with a digital
video and audio signal to the jacks (16) (e.g. PC, Bluray player or game console). For this, you will need
one HDMI cable per device.
If a device does not emit the audio via HDMI, you can
assign one of the audio inputs of the DecoderStation 6
to this device in the “Audio mapping” menu (see page
18).
16
COAXIAL 1 and 2
You can connect the coaxial digital audio outputs of
two source devices to the COAXIAL jacks (9). You will
need a coaxial cable with RCA plugs for this.
OPTICAL 1 and 2
You can connect the optical digital audio outputs of
two source devices to the OPTICAL jacks (10). You will
need an optical cable with a TOSLINK plug for this.
AUX 1, 2 and 3
You can connect source devices with analogue audio
to the jacks (7) and (8). The jack AUX 1 (7) is a 3.5-
mm jack plug socket for connecting e.g. an MP3
player. The jacks AUX 2 and AUX3 (8) are RCA jacks
for connecting e.g. a CD audio player.
Outputs
TV set
Connect your TV set or your projector to the HDMI TV
jack (15). You will need a HDMI cable for this.
If your TV set does not emit audio via HDMI ARC, you
can assign one of the audio inputs of the DecoderStation 6 to the TV set in the “Audio Mapping” menu (see
page 18).

Subwoofer
You can connect an active subwoofer to the
SUBWOOFER jack (12) with an RCA cable.
If you use an active subwoofer with wireless connection, activate the connection in the
menu (see “Radio links” on page 18).
Headphones
You can connect Stereo headphones to the HEADPHONE jack (11) with a 3.5 mm plug.
The outputs to the power amplifiers (12) are auto-
matically deactivated when connecting headphones.
However, they can be reactivated with the button
(22) on the remote control. This makes it possible to
operate the DecoderStation 6 with the speakers, even
when the headphones are inserted (e.g. while using
wireless headphones with the transmitter permanently
connected).

or Off.
• Cinema EQ
This function reduces the percentage of high tones
from the original movie sound mix to perfectly
adapt the sound to the typical acoustics of a living
room. Possible setting: On or Off.
Equalizer
With this function, very fine adjustments within nine
frequency ranges are available. Possible values: from
–20 dB (decrease) to +6 dB (increase) each.
The “Reset” menu item resets all frequency ranges for
the selected channel to zero (neutral).
“Speaker Levels” menu
Here, you can set the relative volume within a range
from “–10” (decrease) to “+10” (increase) for each
speaker.
With the “Test Tone”, you can activate and deactivate
pink noise as a neutral test tone and also set the
speaker levels as described above.
We recommend that you use a sound level meter to
optimally adjust the sound level.
“Source Levels” menu
Here, you can set the relative volume within a range
from “–10” (decrease) to “+10” (increase) for each
audio source.
“Audio Mapping” menu
Here, you can set an audio input for each of the four
HDMI inputs and the TV set.
Example: You would like to connect a PC without
HDMI output. With a DVI to HDMI adapter, you transmit the video signal while the audio signal is present
at one of the analogue inputs (AUX) via an RCA cable.
If the HDMI-ARC function is activated for the TV set,
the menu item “TV” will not be available.
“Speaker Setup” menu
Speaker Size
You can set the size of the speakers in use here for
optimal actuation of the speakers. Four configurations
are available:
SSS1 All speakers are small,
subwoofer present.
LSS1Large front speakers, small center and sur-
round speakers, subwoofer present.
LSS0Large front speakers, small center and sur-
round speakers, no subwoofer.
LLL1All speakers are large,
subwoofer present.
The letters represent the speakers: Front left/right,
center, surround left/right. In this context, S stands
for small and L for large speakers. The last number
stands for the subwoofer (1 = present, 0 = not present).
In 3.1 mode, a 0 stands for “not present” concerning
surround (3rd position).

Crossover
With the crossover frequency, you determine the
upper and lower frequency limits for the operation of
the satellites. Possible values: 80 to 250 Hz in eight
steps.
You can find information on the recommended crossover frequency in the technical data of the respective
satellite speakers in our webshop.
Phase Sub
You can hereby switch the phase shift (180°) on and
off for the subwoofer. Select the setting, with which
the subwoofer produces the loudest and clearest
sound.
Lip Sync
Digital image processing in the TV set takes some
time. To keep the video and audio in sync, the TV set
delays the audio by a few milliseconds. Here, you can
adjust the audio delay from 0 to 200 ms for each
HDMI and other inputs in order to keep the sound
synchronous.
ARC (Audio Return Channel)
In case of a HDMI connection, this channel provides a
return channel for audio data from the TV set (for TV
sets that support this function). Audio from the television sets runs to the DecoderStation 6 through the
HDMI cable without having to connect another cable.
Possible settings: On or Off.
• With some TV sets, you have to activate these functions in the menu – please refer to the instruction
manual for your TV set.
• Many TV sets only support the ARC function with
one HDMI input. In most cases, it is labelled with
“ARC”.
• To use ARC you must also activate CEC.
• If the CEC function is activated, standby power
consumption increases.
Audio Passthrough
With this function, you determine whether the picture
and audio from the connections HDMI 1 to 4 are also
looped through to the TV set when the DecoderStation 6 is in standby. Possible settings: On or Off.
Distance
Speakers located at different distances to the listening position may disturb the surround sound effect.
Here, you can set a slight delay of the signal to compensate these run time differences for all channels.
Measure the distance from the listening position to
the speakers and enter these values in the menu. The
system calculates the required delays on this basis.

CEC (Consumer Electronics Control)
This function makes it possible to control devices via
the HDMI connection. The DecoderStation 6 together
with the TV set is switched on and to standby with this
function. With many TV sets, you can also adjust the
volume of the DecoderStation 6 with the TV set's remote control and the DecoderStation 6 will automatically select the input of the respectively active source.
Possible settings: On or Off.

Cleaning & Maintenance
• Ideally, you should remove dust or small amounts of
dirt with a dry, smooth leather cloth.
• Use a damp cloth to rub off stubborn dirt. Make
sure that no liquid penetrates the housing.
• Then immediately wipe the damp surfaces off with
a soft cloth without applying pressure.
Notice
Risk of damage!
Using the wrong cleaning agents may damage the
delicate surface of the housing.
• If possible, only use plain water without any
additives. In case of stubborn marks, a mild soap
solution may be used.
• In no circumstances should caustic cleaning
products, white spirit, thinners, petrol or similar
be used for cleaning.

is a very low-noise system. In most
cases, the system with very high
resolution in the high range area
can expose the poor quality of a
signal source (e.g. from MP3 files).
MP3s, radio as well as many TV
shows only transmit stereo sound.
If digital sources are being played,
the DecoderStation 6 automatically recognises the format of the
signal source. If the decoder fails
to play multi-channel sound, there
is presumably no multi-channel
signal. Digital signal sources do
not always transmit multi-channel
sound, but may also emit regular
stereo sound (2.0).
You are probably using a digital input. If a Dolby or DTS signal is received on this
input, the DecoderStation 6 will automatically switch to the correct surround mode.
Select the right source (see page 14).
Push the button or adjust the volume.
Connect the DecoderStation 6 to the same
power circuit.
Buy a line filter and connect all devices to it.
Use a different multiple socket strip or connect
the DecoderStation 6 directly to the wall socket.
Ensure that the source is sending a clear signal
to the DecoderStation 6 system.
Switch the DecoderStation 6 to a Pro-Logic mode
or one of the DSP modes (5.1 Stereo).
