Setup
Location tips
• The room where you use the Columa 200 may be up
to 30 m2.
• Select a stable, level base.
• Make sure that the environment is clean and free from
dust.
• Avoid placing the unit close to sources of heat or in
direct sunlight.
• Arrange the connector cables so that they do not pose
a trip hazard.
• Do not place any heavy objects on the cables or the
devices.
You can purchase installation materials (cables, speaker
stands, wall brackets and resonance dampers) especially designed for these speakers in our webshop
(www.teufelaudio.com) in the “Accessories” area.
The following data concern an “ideal home cinema”, in
which the viewer or the listener sits in a central position
at a suffi cient distance in front of the television (see the
adjacent graphic) and no objects (tables or the like) are
located in between. Unfortunately, the room, furnishings or one’s partner do not always allow for optimum
arrangement.
Modern AV receivers offer a variety of possibilities for
electronically compensating losses associated with the
arrangement. The following general rule applies: Based
on our recommendations you can always experiment on
what works best in your listening room in terms of sound
and appearance. Let your ears (and eyes) be the judge!
Center
If possible, place the center speaker directly above or
under the television. Use the brackets on the back of the
speaker for wall mounting.

Rear
Front
Two of the satellites 햲 are set up as front speakers to the
right and left of the television. They should be in line with
the center speaker and form an equilateral triangle with
the listener – the so-called stereo triangle (distance from
the listener = distance between the speakers). The speakers should project sound directly into the room or slightly
towards the listener.
Rear
The two remaining satellites 햲 are set up as “rear”
speakers to the side (a) or to the back (b) of the listener.
The distance to the listener should be at least 100 cm.
Subwoofer
Rear
Rear
Subwoofer
You can place the subwoofer on the fl oor close to the
television. Often a location between the front speakers is
ideal.

Connecting
Danger
Danger of injury/damage!
Arrange the cables so that they do not pose a
trip hazard.
Satellite speakers
• Pull the mains plug of your AV receiver out of the
socket.
• Lay the speaker cables from your AV receiver to
each of the satellite speakers. This cable should be
high-quality double-wire speaker cable with marked
strands. The cross-section should amount to at least
2
1.5 m m
.
Tip: Label the cables on the receiver side. This will help
when taking down and setting up the receiver.
• A connector terminal with two terminal clips is located
on the back of each satellite speaker. Here you can
connect the speaker cables using pin plugs or directly.
We only describe the direct connection in these instructions.
• The terminals are each marked in red (+) and black (-).
Make sure the polarity is correct!
Connect the like coloured terminals with one
another. Otherwise the sound quality will suffer.
The speaker connectors of your AV receiver should be
marked similarly. The strands of the speaker cables are
marked with different colours or shapes.
• Split the single wire on both ends up to approx. 30 mm
and remove approx. 10 mm of the insulation on each
piece. Twist the single wire so that no strands are protruding.
• Turn the connector terminal counterclockwise until
loose. Run the stripped cable into the hole that is now
visible. Turn the terminal clockwise until closed. The
cable has now been clamped in place.
• Connect all cables to the satellite speakers this way.
• Connect the speaker cable to your AV receiver. The
operating instructions of the appliance should contain
notes on this.
• Also plug the mains plug of your AV receiver back into
the socket.
• Set the crossover frequency between the satellite
speakers and subwoofers on the AV receiver to
120 Hz.

Care and cleaning
Clean the speakers regularly with a soft, damp microfi ber
cloth. Be absolutely sure to observe the following notes:
• If possible use only plain water without any cleaning
products. In case of stubborn marks, a mild soap solution may be used.
• In no circumstances should caustic cleaning products,
white spirit, thinners, petrol or similar be used for
cleaning.
Troubleshooting
The following advice should help you to solve problems. If this is not the case, please contact our hotline (see page 3).
Take note of the warranty instructions.
ProblemPossible causeSolution
Playback is noisy.Generally speaking, the Columa 200 is a
passive speaker system, which is unable
to produce noise. In the high range area,
very good-quality high-resolution speaker
systems can expose the poor quality of a
signal source (e.g. from MP3 fi les).
The sound seems dull. The speakers have been connected with
incorrect polarity.
Ensure that the source is sending a clear
signal.
Make sure the speaker cables of all satellites
are connected properly.
Protecting the environment
Disposing of the unit
Used units must not be disposed of with household waste
If the unit is no longer operational, every
consumer is required by law to dispose of
used devices separate from household waste,
e. g. at a collection point run by the communal author-
ity borough. In this way, used devices can be recycled
and waste materials disposed of in an environmentally
friendly manner.
For this reason, electrical equipment is labelled with the
displayed symbol.
