Safety Information

Never store instrument together with solvents (e.g. acetone).

Operate the instrument only within the parameters specified in the Technical data.
Operate the instrument properly and according to its intended purpose.
Do not use force. Open the instrument only when this is expressly described in
the documentation for maintenance or service purposes.
Ensure correct disposal:
Disposal of defective rechargeable batteries and spent batter­ies at the collection points provided.
Send the instrument directly to us at the end of its life cycle. We will ensure that it is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
Intended Use
testo 317-2 is a practical gas detector which detects methane (CH
) and propane gas (C3H8).

Readiness to operate is indicated by an audible signal.
Detecing leaks
Position the detector such that the sensor opening (orange) is purged by the ambient air in the area under scrutiny. Avoid covering the surface of the sensor.
- The 8 bar symbols change to black according to the concen­trations detected and the frequency of the audible signal rises with increasing gas concentrations.
- If the alarm value is exceeded, a continuous tone is emitted and the alarm symbol ( ) lights up.

Maintenance and Service
Changing the battery

Open battery section

Remove spent batteries and replace with new ones. Observe +/-.

Close battery section.
Cleaning the detector
The detector housing should be cleaned with a damp cloth (soap water) if dirty. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
Troubleshooting
