or pull the cord around sharp edges or corners. Use the handle to carry and move the cleaner. Do NOT run the appliance over the power cord. Do NOT handle the mains plug or cleaner with wet hands. Do NOT use the vacuum cleaner to pick up large objects or objects that are likely to damage the vacuum cleaner. Do NOT attempt to vacuum long hair, string, pieces of cloth, etc. when vacuuming carpets or oors. These may clog the cleaner. Use extra care when vacuuming on stairs. Keep all vents openings and attachments free of dust, lint, hair and anything else that may reduce air ow. Keep the end of the hose and all attachments away from your face and body. If the appliance becomes clogged, switch o and unplug the power cord before clearing the obstruction.
IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ
For ecient operation it is essential that all the airways and lters are cleaned regularly and that the dust container is emptied before it is full and after every use of the appliance. Failure to do this will restrict the airow and result in poor cleaner performance. Damage caused by failure to empty the dust container and to clean the lters and airways as specied in these instructions will not be covered by the warranty.
AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF THERMOSTAT
There is a safety thermostat inside the cleaner to prevent the unit from being run with too high a vacuum rate. If the airways or lters get clogged the pressure in the cleaner will be excessive and the thermostat will activate. The cleaner then will stop working to protect the motor from overheating.
If this happens switch o and unplug the cleaner immediately.
Allow the motor to cool down for one hour and clean the airways and lters thoroughly. Plug the cleaner in again and switch on: the cleaner should now operate normally.

General Do’s and Don’ts

Use the carry handle to lift or move the cleaner. If you are moving the cleaner a long way or up a ight of stairs, switch o, rewind the power cord and park the accessories.
Examine the dust level and empty the dust cup regularly.
NEVER let the dust exceed the MAX level
Clearing a Blockage
When vacuuming:
Move the vacuum head back and forth over the surface. Use even strokes. Do not press- let the cleaner do the work.
If the cleaner loses suction this may be due to clogged lters or a blockage. DO NOT operate the cleaner if the suction is impaired.
If you suspect a blockage: Switch o and unplug the cleaner immediately. Empty the dust, check all the lters and clean them.
If this does not remove the blockage: Check the hose, extension tube and accessories visually and remove any blockage with a stick or broom handle.

Emptying the Dust Cup
Empty the dust cup regularly during vacuuming, and always after vacuuming to maintain ecient cleaning performance. Cleaning the Main Filter and SMS Filter
The SMS lter stops nearly all dust particles and airborne allergens from re-entering the air you breathe. This lter ts into the top of the main lter. Clean the lters every time you use the cleaner. Failure to do this will impair performance and may damage the cleaner motor.
The SMS lter will discolour over time. This is normal and provided the lter is kept clean, performance will not be adversely aected.
There are hand grips in the top of the lter assembly to help you remove the lter easily.
Note: when replacing the lter ensure the boss on the lter ts into the notch in the Dust Cup.
Hold the lter assembly with the hand grips and then lift the lter out.
