THIS CLEANER WORKS BY SUCKING AIR AT HIGH PRESSURE THROUGH A POWERFUL MOTOR. FOR EFFICIENT AND SAFE OPERATION IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL THE AIRWAYS AND FILTERS ARE CLEANED AT REGULAR INTERVALS AND THAT THE DUST IS EMPTIED BEFORE THE DUST CONTAINER IS FULL AND AFTER EVERY USE OF THE APPLIANCE.

FAILURE TO CLEAN THE FILTERS AND EMPTY THE DUST CONTAINER WILL RESTRICT THE AIRFLOW. THIS WILL RESULT IN POOR CLEANER PERFORMANCE.

$Use only on dry, indoor surfaces. $Do NOT put any objects into openings. $Do NOT use with any filters blocked. $Do NOT use without all the filters in place. $Empty the Dust Cup before it reaches the MAX level. $Switch the cleaner off before plugging or unplugging the

$Use extra care when vacuuming on stairs. $Keep all vents openings and attachments free of dust,
lint, hair and anything else that may reduce air flow.
$Keep the end of the hose and all attachments away from
your face and body.
$If the appliance becomes clogged, switch off and unplug
the power cord before clearing the obstruction.

Unpacking The Cleaner
Remove all packaging from the appliance and accessories. Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so according to any recycling regulations.
Identify the cleaner components from the illus-trations. If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest Tesco store for assistance. Please have your receipt ready when you call.

Assembling your Vacuum Cleaner
Never attach or remove accessories when the vacuum cleaner is switched on.
Attaching and Removing the Flexible Hose Attaching the Hose Extensions

A: To extend the power cord:
Gently pull the cord from the recess located in the rear of the cleaner. The cord has two marks.
The yellow mark shows the maximum safe length to which you can extend the cord. If you can see the red mark the cord has been lengthened too much.
Never extend the cord beyond the red mark or you may damage the cord winding mechanism.
B: To rewind the cord:
Unplug the cord. Press the Cord Release. Gently guide the cord back by hand into the cleaner until it is fully rewound. Do not let the cord return unaided or it may whip and cause damage or injury.

Using the Appliance
Make sure the dust cup is empty! (see Page 6)
Fit the appropriate attachments. Extend the power cord to a usable length. Plug the mains plug into the mains point.
Press the Mains ON/OFF pedal to switch the power ON. (Press again to switch the power OFF)
Setting the Suction Power.
The suction power can be increased or decreased by operating the airflow slider in the hose grip.
Use a low setting for curtains and delicate fabrics.Use a medium setting for long pile and velour carpets or soft textile flooring tiles.
Use a high setting for rough short pile carpets, coir matting and rugs, and hard bare floors.
When vacuuming:
Move the vacuum head back and forth over the surface. Use even strokes. Do not press- let the cleaner do the work.
Using the Accessories
The Floor Brush is adjustable for use on carpets or bare floors.
Bare Floors: Press the side of the lever showing the Brush
Symbol. The brush and squeegee will appear
Carpeted Floors: Press the side of the lever showing the Floor symbol to retract the floor brush.
The Crevice Tool is a dual-purpose tool. Use it extended to vacuum down the side of cushions, etc. Turn the head through 90ยบ to clean curtains, etc.
General Do's and Don'ts
Do NOT attach or remove accessories when the vacuum
cleaner is switched on.
Do NOT pull the cleaner around the room by the hose. Do NOT over extend the hose. Trying to reach beyond the
hose length could cause an accident. Be especially careful on stairs. Do NOT pull or carry the cleaner by the cord, close a door on

switch off, rewind the power cord and park the accessories.
Examine the dust level and empty the dust cup regularly. NEVER let the dust exceed the MAX level (See Page 6).
When you have finished vacuuming:
$Switch off and unplug the appliance. $Rewind the power cord. $Empty the dust cup and clean the dust cup filters. $Disconnect the accessories and store the cleaner in the
vertical position or place the cleaner normally with the accessories in the parked position. (See Storage)
Clearing a Blockage
If the cleaner loses suction and the dust in the dust cup is below the MAX mark, this may be due to clogged filters or a blockage. DO NOT operate if the suction is impaired.
If you suspect a blockage:
$Set the cleaner upright, switch off and unplug immediately.
Empty the dust, check all the filters and clean them.
If this does not remove the blockage:
$Check the extension tubes and accessories visually and
remove any blockage with a stick or broom handle.

Emptying the Dust Cup and Cleaning the Dust Cup Filters
Empty the dust cup regularly to maintain the efficient performance of the cleaner.
The maximum dirt level is marked on the Dust Cup.
You must empty the Dust Cu p befor e the dir t reaches the MAX mark.
Failure to do this will impair the efficiency of the cleaner.
Switch the cleaner off and unplug it.

Open the Dust Cup as shown.
Hold the tube at the top of the filter assembly. Rotate the tube to the left (anti-clockwise) to unlock it.

Carefully remove the dus t c u p f rom th e cleaner.
Invert the dust cup over a bin. Press the catch on the lid which will pop open. Shake and tap the dust cup lightly to remove as much dust as possible. Close the lid. If you are still vacuuming, replace the cup.
Cleaning the Dust Cup Filters
The HEPA Filter stops nearly all dust particles and airborne allergens from re-entering the air you breathe. Around the flter there is a debris screen.

Clean this filter and screen every time you use the cleaner. Failure to do this will impair performance and may damage the cleaner motor.
Open the Dust Cup as shown.

DEBRIS SCREEN
Separate the debris screen from the filter.Wash the debris screen under running water to free all particles.
Brush out the HEPA filter with a soft brush. If the filter is soiled, wash it under running water until it is thoroughly clean.
Allow both parts of the filter to dry and then reassemble the filter and re insert it into the Dust Cup.
NEVER replace a filter if it is damp.

Cleaning the Inlet Filter
The Inlet filter is inside the cleaner. Whenever you remove the Dust Cup, you should inspect this filter and clean it.
This filter should be cleaned regularly, and whenever it shows any signs of dirt.
Lift the filter out, brush it thoroughly and if necessary wash it under running water. Allow to dry fully.
Cleaning the Exhaust Filter
The Exhaust filter is located at the rear of the cleaner,

Press down on the filter cover. Hinge it out and remove it
Lift the filter out from the cage, and wash it under running water. Allow to dry fully.
When it is dry, replace it in the cageBrush the outlet cavity out.
If there is any dirt around the inlet cavity carefully brush it out. This will help keep the internal airways clean and maintain top cleaner performance.
When the filter is thoroughly dry replace it in the inlet.
It is essential to inspect clean the filters regularly. The period between inspections will depend on how often and for how long you use the cleaner. The filter in the dust cup should be cleaned whenever you empty the dust. The motor inlet and exhaust filters should be checked after every three cleaning sessions.
If the cleaner shows any sign of losing suction, switch off, check and clean the filters and if necessary, clear any blockage.
NEVER operate the cleaner with clogged filters, you could damage the cleaner motor.
If a filter shows any sign of wear or damage, or clogging that ordinary cleaning cannot remove it should be replaced. Contact the Tesco helpline number on the last page of this manual for assistance.
This will help keep the internal airways clean and maintain cleaner performance.
Replace the complete filter in the cleaner.

OPERATING CAUTIONS

Wipe the cleaner body with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do NOT allow water or liquids to penetrate the vacuum cleaner. This could be dangerous.
Store the cleaner safely out of the reach of children and pets.
The cleaner can be stored upright on its base with the hose and accessories disconnected and separately stored. Although the cleaner may be stored fully assembled with the brush in the parked position this is not recommended.
