SAFETY TURTLE WIRELESS PANIC BUTTON MODEL T101-PB OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. The Safety Turtle® User Guide that comes with the Base Station explains the functionality of the Safety Turtle system and the Base Station. The following Instructions are supplemental to the Safety Turtle User Guide.
2. The Panic Button transmits but does not alarm locally. Alarming occurs only at the Safety Turtle Base Station, which is purchased separately. All Safety Turtle sensors [Turtles, Gate Alarms and Panic Buttons] must be one color to work with one Base Station. The baby Turtle coding plug and sensors all depict this color.
3. Refer to accompanying diagram of Panic Button transmitter. Note position of activation switch.
4. The Panic Button is water resistant but not waterproof. Do not immerse or allow water to enter from the bottom.
5. Do not store or operate Panic Button where inadvertent pressure on activation switch will result in false alarms.
6. Range may be up to 400 ft. [120 meters] with an unobstructed line of site. However, in all cases, coverage
must be tested.
7. Test coverage as follows:
Pick a location for the Base Station as close and unobstructed as possible to the desired coverage area. See “Locate the Base Station” in Initial Setup and Testing section of the Safety Turtle User Guide.
With the Base Station in TEST [amber light “on”], walk the Panic Button around the desired coverage area while continuously depressing the activation switch for a period of up to 15 minutes. Beeping should continue uninterrupted. [Panic Button transmission becomes intermittent after 15 minutes, preventing coverage testing. Reset by releasing the activation switch for 5 seconds.]
If necessary establish a radial coverage limit by walking the Panic Button away from the Base Station until beeping stops.
If measured coverage is inadequate, try relocating the Base Station; otherwise, strategically place two Base Stations to accomplish more combined coverage.
Coverage should be retested annually or whenever a Base Station is relocated or the site is physically altered.
WARNING: The Panic Button will NOT cause a Base Station to alarm if activated outside the Base
Station’s coverage area.
8. The activation switch is momentary, not on/off. Transmission is enabled while switch is depressed, and ceases 3 seconds after it is released.
9. In order for the Panic Button to work the battery must be installed as follows:
Separate the top and bottom halves of Panic Button and remove Mylar strip from under the battery.
Press down firmly on the right hand side of the battery; this will seat the battery in the socket.
Reattach the top and bottom halves of the Panic Button.
10. Test operation of the system as follows:
Base Station should be in Test Mode with its amber light on [see Safety Turtle User Guide]
Base Station should beep while button on Panic Button [see diagram] is depressed and for a few seconds thereafter
repeat with the Panic Button at other locations in the desired coverage area
after testing, Base Station should be returned to Active Mode [see Safety Turtle User Guide]
11. [optional if 10. successful] Repeat 10. with the Base Station in Active Mode [amber light off]. Once Base Station alarms, press moon-shaped button to turn off.
12. If the Base Station has not so far beeped or alarmed, it needs to be relocated where there is better reception of the signal from the Panic Button. See “Locate the Base Station” in Initial Setup and Testing section of the Safety Turtle User Guide. Note that more than one Base Station can be used to expand coverage.
13. If the system functions in Active Mode but not Test Mode, the CR2032 battery in the Panic Button
needs replacing [see Safety Turtle User Guide].
Installing the battery:
1. Separate the top and bottom halves of Panic Button and release battery from holder as shown below. Replace.
2. Reattach the top and bottom halves of Panic Button.
3. Retest the Panic Button.
14. The Panic Button is warranted for one year from date of purchase. Damage or the effects of misuse are not covered by this warranty. See Safety Turtle User Guide for customer support information.
