I. Installation and Setup
1.Attach the bearing assembly to the base using the supplied 1-1/8" nut. Hold the bearing
housing tightly in one hand and tighten the bearing nut with a large wrench or pliers. The
bearing nut should be snug but not excessively tight.
2.Attach the bearing ground wire to the bottom of the bearing using the included 6-32
screw.
3.Place the platter on top of the spindle and while holding the platter level press the
platter onto the spindle.
4.Thread the chrome record centering pin into the top of the spindle.
5.Insert the armboard mounting bolt into the bottom of the base and thread into the
armboard. Using the included allen wrench tighten the armboard bolt just enough to hold
the armboard steady.
6.Install the tonearm and cartridge and adjust the overhang by rotating the armboard
7.Connect the bearing ground wire to the tonearm ground. This may be done at the
tonearm or at the preamp, which ever is the most convenient.
8.When the overhang adjustment is complete tighten the armboard bolt. Tighten only
enough to hold the armboard firmly in place. Do not over tighten!
9.Check the clearance between the optical sensor and the strobe disk. The sensor should
be placed so that there is slightly less than 1/16
sensor and the strobe disk. Be sure that the sensor does not touch the strobe disk!
10.Plug AC cable from the wall transformer into the large pins on the bottom of the
motor pod. The orientation does not matter.
11.Plug the turntable sensor cable into the bottom of the motor pod with the black wire
on the side marked with a black dot. If this cable is oriented incorrectly the controller
will not work but will not be damaged.
12.Place the motor pod next to the turntable and install the silk drive thread around the
platter and the motor pulley.
13.Slide the motor pod to tension the thread. The thread does not need much tension to
work properly. When tensioned correctly the thread should slip on the pulley for a few
seconds during startup. The tension is not critical and a little experimentation will
quickly get good results.
14.Place the black Delrin washer packaged with the record clamp over the record
centering pin.
