This manual contains the information for the Marty W-Gate appropriate use. It contains also the installation rules that have to be followed for the safety of the users and the correct use of the Marty W-Gate.
Meaning of the symbols:
It notifies important instructions regarding device installation and use.
It notifies the dangerous of electrical shock caused by not electrical isolation inside the device.
This guide informs about the connection of the Marty W-Gate with other devices (computer, phone etc...) and relative configurations in order to have the Internet connection in few minutes.

Warning: Do not work on equipments or cables during periods of lightning activity.
Warning: To prevent electric shock, do not remove the cover. No user-serviceable part inside. This unit contains hazardous voltages and should only be opened by a trained and qualifies technician.
To avoid the possibility of electric shock, disconnect electric power to the product before connecting or disconnecting the LAN cables. Power cord is used as a disconnection device. To de-energize equipment, disconnect the power cord.
Do not connect more than the recommended amount of wire. Stripping more than the recommended amount can create a safety hazard by leaving exposed wire on the terminal block after installation
When installing this equipment, always ensure that the frame ground connection is installed first and disconnected last. The power source for the router should be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
Check to see if there are any exposed copper strands coming from the installed wire. When this installation is done correctly there should be no exposed copper wire strands extending from the terminal block. Any exposed wiring can conduct harmful levels of electricity to persons touching

the wires.
Warning: Only trained and qualified personnel are allowed to install or to replace this equipment. Warning: To reduce risk of fire use only 18 AWG or larger wires, that should be provided by the installer.
Warning: When using your Communication equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electronic shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
• Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, or
laundry tub in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
• Avoid using a Communication equipment (other than a cordless type) during electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
• Do not use the Communication equipment to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak. Warning: To redue the risk of fire, use only 26 AWG or larger telecommunication line cords.

Don't damage the warranty label: if the warranty label is not intact the warranty conditions are not valid.
Don't place the device on unsteady positions.
Caution: Air vents must not be blocked and must have free access to the room ambient air for cooling. To allow proper cooling of the device, make sure that the air flow around the unit and
through its heat sink cooling fins on the base is not restricted. Warning: Operating Temperature. This product is designed for a maximum ambient temperature of 35° degrees C.
If the device is installed indoors, make sure that the site is a dust-free environment. The site should provide for easy access to the ports of the gateway device. This will make it easy for you to connect and disconnect cables, as well as view the LEDs.
Circuit Overloading: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of circuits might have on overcurrent protection and
supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern. Warning: For centralized AC power connection, install only in a restricted access area.
Do not install in direct sunlight, or a damp or dusty place. Do not expose the device to
moisture or water.
Avoid long exposition of the human body to the Wi-Fi devices. Install the Wi-Fi devices at a distance not inferior of 20 cm from the users.
WEEE DISPOSAL OF WASTE EQUIPMENT IN THE EUROPEAN

State Members in EU with restrictions
National Restrictions
In most of the EU and other European countries, the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands have been made available for the use of wireless LANs. The following table provides an overview of the regulatory requirements which are generally applicable for the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands. In the last part of this section you will find an overview of the countries in which additional restrictions or requirements or both are applicable. The requirements for any country may evolve. Telsey recommends you to check with local authorities for the latest status of their national regulations for both 2.4- and 5-GHz wireless LANs.

Austria and Switzerland
The use of the band from 5470 to 5725 MHz is not allowed in Austria or Switzerland. Die Verwendung des Frequenzbereichs von 5470 MHz bis 5725 MHz ist in Österreich und Schweiz nicht zulässing. The use of the band from 5470 to 5725 MHz is not allowed in France. The band from 5150 to 5350 MHz can only be used indoors. In case the product is used outdoors, the usage of any 5-GHz frequency is not allowed, but for 2.4-GHz, the output power is restricted in some parts of the 2.4-GHz band. Italy
This product meets the National Radio Interface and the requirements specified in the National Frequency Allocation Table for Italy. It can be installed without authorization within the boundaries of the owner's property as defined on D.Lgs 1.8.2003, article 104 (activities subject to general authorization) and 105 (free use). For public services of Wireless LAN access, it requires a general authorization as defined on DM 28.05.03 “Wi-fi service regualmentation for public use”. Norway
This product meets the National Radio Interface and the requirements specified in the National Frequency Allocation Table for Norway. Use of the frequency band 2400 - 2483.5 MHz is authorised in accordance with the frequency use defined in the standard ETS 300 328. This subsection does not apply for the geographical area with a radius of 20 km from the centre of NyÅlesund. Indoor use of the frequency band 5150 - 5350 MHz (Frequency Band A) is authorised for local radio networks. Use of the frequency band 5470 - 5725 MHz (Frequency Band B) is authorised for local radio networks. External Antennas and Power Levels
Telsey’s 2.4-GHz wireless products have two external (dedicated) antennas of 2dBi gain and the output power of the equipment result in a maximum radiated power less than 100 mW EIRP.
Use only the Ethernet cable included in the package or cables with the same feature (UTP cat. 5 not screen), in order to respect the European Directive 89/336 Class B for electromagnetic compatibility in residential environment.

Marty W-Gate allows Broadband Network Operators to easily connect residential customers to their ADSL2+/ADSL2/ADSL networks and combines traditional Ethernet 10/100 BaseTX and USB interfaces for the home LAN with an IEEE 802.11b/g wireless access point. Marty W-Gate is intended for the efficient delivery of Fast Internet and Voice over IP services. The support of the integrated VoIP interfaces (2 FXS ports) is provided as an optional module that can be also installed by the end user. This allows operators to invest on VoIP services when and only when it will launch the service, pursuing efficient "pay as you grow" strategy.
