INTRODUCTION TO QUALIPHY MOST150 OPHY
QPHY-MOST150o is an automated test package performing all of the normative real time oscilloscope
tests for sources in accordance with the MOST150 oPHY Automotive Ph ysical La yer Sub-Specification
Rev. 1.1, 05/2010. The software can be run on LeCroy Zi and Xi Series oscillosc o pe with at least 2
GHz bandwidth, a sample rate of at least 10GSa/s and 10Mpt of memory. The oscilloscope must also
be equipped with the QPHY-MOST150o, DFP2, and either SDM or SDA2 options.
Required Equipment
• QPHY-MOST150o, DFP2, and either SDM or SDA2 options
• Real time LeCroy Oscilloscope meeting the above requirements (at least 2 GHz bandwidth, a
sample rate of at least 10GSa/s, and 10Mpt of memory)
o All LabMaster 9 Zi-A and SDA/DDA/WaveMaster 8 Zi-A oscillosc opes
o SDA/DDA/WavePro 725Zi-A and higher bandwidth oscilloscopes
o WaveRunner 620 Zi and higher bandwidth oscilloscopes

USING QUALIPHY MOST150 OPHY
QualiPHY MOST150 oPhy guides the user, step-by-step, through each of the tests described in the
specification: MOST150 oPHY Automotive Physical Layer Sub-Specification Rev. 1.1, 05/2010. T o do
this, the user must set up a test session.
Users choose the test configuration they wish to run. There are five pre-loaded test configurations. They
are:
• All Tests [demo]
• All Tests [differential and optical probe]
• All Tests [differential probe only]
• All Tests [direct connections]
• All Tests [optical probe only]
These pre-loaded configurations provide quick and easy ways to begin compliance testing. If the user
does not want to run any of these configurations, they can create their own custom configuration (see
the following section entitled Customizing QualiPHY for details).
The pre-loaded configurations are set up to run all of the compliance tests. If this is not what the user
wants, the variables can be modified (see the QPHY-MOST150o Variables section of this manual).
The variables are pre-loaded with the standard settings for compliance testing; however, the user may
choose to create their own configuration with the variables set as desired.

Eye Diagram Tes ti ng 1 .2, 2. 4, 4 .1, 4 .3
This test is perform ed at points SP1, SP2 and SP 4 and c reates an e ye dia gram from the input signa l
and tests it against t he appropriate m ask using the specified cloc k edge. The measur ements at test
point SP2 use a normalized mask (i.e. relative to the B0/B1 measured levels) while those at the
remaining test points use an absolute mask. The result reported is the number of mask hits.
Note: In cases where a large number of m ask hits are detected the num ber of UI displa yed will be
reduced to keep the processing time manageable.

Transfer Jitter Testing 1.3, 2.6, 4.2
This test is perform ed at points SP1, SP2 and SP4. The os cilloscope captures a long s ignal record
which is used to generate a TIE-tr ack where the PLL from the clock recovery is set to a very low
frequency. This TIE-track is then filtere d by the specified filter. The filter is im plemented as an IIR
Butterworth filter for best conform ance to the standard. The transf er jitter value i s the RMS (sdev) of
this filtered TIE-track.

Dark level and Extinction Ratio 2.1
The dark level of the O/E converter is measured and used to calculate the extinction ratio. To
measure the dark level, re move the POF-fibre f rom the O/E-converter. Shade the input of the O/Econverter and pres s the “O K” butto n. Skipping the measur ement of the dark level is allo wed but will
result in a failure of the extinction ratio test.
