TheTEKCB1-Ais designed to beinstalledinto a standard 2’x2’or 2’ x 4’ceilingtile andallows for easyinstallation and service ofaudiovisualand lightingequipment.Includedinthis boxare internalelectricalpower outletsand below-ceilingconnections forpower,HDMI,and control.Thisallows for theuseofnon-plenumcables to aprojector.
TEKVOXsupplies this boxwith system solutions calledDrop-Ins. Thesesystems arepreconfiguredaudiovisualsolutions forclassrooms and offices.There is noprogramming required,and in mostcases, installers onlyneedto maketheconnectionsfor thesystemtobe upandrunning.

TEK CB1-A Plenum Rated Ceiling Box
Location
Itisveryimportantto mount theTEKCB1-Acloseenough to theprojector forthe4’cablesto reach,butnotso close thatyoucannotfullyopen theceilingboxlid. The area above theceilingboxwillneedto beopenedin orderto installthesupportingcables. Remove theceilingtile andplaceitin a safearea.
Cable Support
Installingceilingboxes withoutpropercablesupportisdangerousandcanharmorkillsomeone.Ifyoudon’tfellcomfortable installingthese cables, wesuggest thatyoucontact a professionalwhocandoitforyou.
Ceiling Truss
Most installations willuse a ceilingtrussandrequire verylittle effort. Simplyloop theend of thebraided cable around thetruss andpullittightthroughtheeye ofthecable.Do thesamefortheother3cables.
Wood Studded Ceiling
When installingwith a wood studded ceiling,usefour1/4” x3”eye lagscrews.Thesearenotsuppliedwith theceilingbox.Drilla1/8”hole into thestudand secure thescrewinto thewood. Placetheend ofthebraided cable through theeyeofthelagand pullittightthroughtheeye ofthecable. Do thesamefortheother3 cables.
Concrete Ceiling
Forconcrete ceilinginstallations,usefourM6 Eye bolts. These are notsuppliedwith theceilingbox.Usinga1/8”masonrydrillbitdrillahole into theconcreteand secure thescrewinto theconcrete bytappingitinto placeand tighten itdown.Placetheend ofthebraided cable through the eyeof thelagandpullittightthrough theeye ofthecable. Dothesame fortheotherthreecables.
InstallationofKwik-Loc CableJoiner
Step1
Firstpass theend ofthewire rope aroundtheanchorpoint.This could be anyoftheabove mentionedceilingsupports.
Step2
Pass theend ofthewire rope through thecable loop andpulltheend tightaroundtheanchorpoint.
Step3
Pulltheadjustmentpin backontheKwik-Loc and pass theend ofthewire rope throughthecable inputopening.

Placetheceilingboxinto theinto theceilinggrid fame.Make certain thatthedirection oftheceilingbox iscorrectbeforecontinuing.
Step6
Pulltheend ofthewire rope through themountingholeontheceilingboxand loopitbackthroughtheKwik-Loccable outlet.Adjustthetightness ofthecable so thatitisnotpullingtheboxupfrom theceiling.Oncecompleted,cut offtheexcess cable.
Electrical
On themain electricalsideoftheceilingboxis a junctionboxwhich contains themainpower leads fortheceilingbox.This junctionboxmakes itveryeasyto supplymain power(120 volts at60Hz15amp only)to theceilingbox.Thewires are 14gaugestranded.
