SSH-FLT/8-5K Filter Module
A new filter module, called the SSH-FLT/8-5K, has been added as an
accessory to the SSH-8. The SSH-FLT/8-5K is a Cauer filter type. This
section describes how to select an appropriate capacitor set to achieve the
desired cutoff frequency range on an SSH-FLT/8-5K filter module.
The SSH-FLT/8-5K filter module is typically set to cover a frequency
range of 8 Hz to 40 Hz. If the cutoff frequency you wish to use is within
this range, you can ignore the information in this section and proceed
with setting the onboard jumper for the clock range, as described on page
B-10 of your SSH-8 User’s Guide. Otherwise, refer to the package of
auxiliary components supplied for the filter module.
Addendum
The package of auxiliary components for the SSH-FLT/8-5K contains
three sets of capacitors that correspond to the ranges of frequency within
40 Hz to 5 kHz. An additional set of capacitors that selects the 8 Hz to
40 Hz frequency range is installed on the board. Each of the capacitor sets
contains five capacitors (C1 through C5). The values of C1 through C5
for each of the four frequency ranges are shown in Table 1.

Choose the capacitor set whose corresponding frequency range includes
the cutoff frequency you wish to use. Use the capacitors from the selected
set to replace capacitors C1 through C5 on the filter module. Refer to
Figure B-5 on page B-9 of your SSH-8 User’s Guide for the placement of
the capacitors on the filter module. Once the appropriate capacitors are
installed, follow the instructions in Appendix B to set the clock range and
the clock frequency and to mount the filter module on the SSH-8.
Cables Used with the STA-1800HC
To attach an STA-1800HC to an SSH-8 board, use the C-1800 cable. The
S-1800 does not work with the STA-1800HC.
