The OM1420 Clock Recovery Module mounts in a slot on the front panel of the Tektronix OI2125 Optical-to-Electrical Receiver and provides clock recovery rates at OC-192 (9.953280 GB/s) and OC-192 FEC (10.66423 GB/s).
Use these instructions to install and remove the module from the OI2125 O/E Receiver. For other clock recovery module information, including specifications and performance verification procedures, refer to the OI2125 O/E Receiver Instruction Manual, Tektronix part number 071-1053-XX.
To protect the module inputs, always use a wrist strap when handling the module and when making signal connections. Always replace the module terminators before transporting the module.
CAUTION. To prevent damage to your module,
do not install or remove the module while the receiver is powered on. Do not apply a voltage greater than the Maximum Nondestructive Input V oltage for the module.
Installing the Clock Recovery Module
1. Power off the receiver.
2. Slowly insert the module into the slot in the front panel until it meets the connector at the back of the module slot.
3. Firmly push the module in to seat it in the connector.
4. Turn the hold-down screw clockwise to lock the module in place.
5. Attach the SMA interconnect cable from the attenuated data output of the receiver to the Data In connector on the module.
NOTE. This step is not necessary when using
the module as a stand-alone instrument or when installing a slot cover module.
6. Power on the receiver.
7. Press the Select Rate button to choose the recovery rate of the module. LEDs to the left of the button indicate the rate selected.
Removing the Clock Recovery Module
1. Power off the receiver.
2. Remove any external cables from the input of the module. This step is not necessary when removing a slot cover module.
3. Remove the SMA interconnect cable from the output of the receiver and the input of the module, if necessary.
4. Replace the terminators on the module. (See CAUTION.)
5. Turn the hold-down screw counterclockwise to unlock the module.
6. Move the latch button to the right to eject the module.
7. Pull the module out of the receiver and store it in a safe location.
8. If you are not going to use another clock recovery module, install the slot cover module in the receiver to limit stray EMI emissions and to protect the receiver from ambient RF noise.
