DSA8200 Operating System Restore
This DVD contains the Microsoft Windows operating system, applications, and
necessary drivers for the DSA8200 instruments.
The Windows operating system and drivers are factory installed on the hard drive.
This DVD serves as a backup if you have to rebuild the hard drive.
Repair the Operating System
When the instrument has problems, you should try the Repair button option on the
recovery media before doing a complete operating system restore.
Use the repair function when messages like the following are displayed when
Windows boots:
H Boot Record Not Found
H Invalid operating system
H The system hangs while booting windows
Always try the Repair button before performing a full operating system restore.
Restore the Operating System
The procedure to restore the instrument system software requires a keyboard
attached to the instrument. You can use either a PS-2 or a USB keyboard.

CAUTION. To avoid data loss, back up any important user files stored on
the hard drive. This operating system restoration process reformats the
hard drive, which erases all user-installed files and applications. If
Windows does not boot, you may be able to start the computer from the
Last Known Good configuration or boot to the Recovery Console on this
disk.
To avoid malfunction, do not install any version of Windows that is not
specifically provided by Tektronix for use with your instrument. The
version of Windows on this DVD is specially configured for the
instrument. Other available versions of Windows will not operate
properly. Do not modify hardware device drivers, apply patches to
operating system components, or modify the system BIOS.
To restore the instrument operating system software, do the following steps:
1. If the keyboard is not installed, connect it to the instrument. (The
optional-accessory keyboard plugs into the USB connector.)
2. Insert the Operating System Restore media in the DVD drive of the instrument,
and close the drive door.
3. Power on the instrument. If the instrument does not reboot from the DVD,
reboot again.
