Introduction
The Model 4200-MAG-BASE provides a magnetic mounting base for the Model 4225-RPM Remote
Preamplifier/Switch Module or Model 4200-PA Remote Preamplifier.
These procedures must be performed by qualified service personnel. Failure to recognize and
observe normal safety precautions may result in equipment damage, personal injury, or even
death, due to electric shock.
This document provides installation instructions for the Keithley Model 4200-PA Remote Preamplifier and
Model 4225-RPM Remote Pulse Measure Unit onto the Model 4200-MAG-BASE. Read through this document
and make sure all components required to complete the installation are available before proceeding.
For connection to the manipulator and instruments, see the Model 4200A-SCS Setup and Maintenance User’s
Manual (4200A-908-01) or Model 4200A-SCS Prober and External Instrument Control (4200A-913-01).
Turn off the power from all the connected instruments and disconnect power cords. Make
sure all power is removed and stored energy in external circuitry is discharged. Failure to
remove all the power from the instruments may result in equipment damage, personal injury,
or even death, due to electric shock.
The 4200-SCS comes with all the tools required to properly install the 4200-PA to the base as
described in this document. Also, the 4225-RPM comes with a 3/32-inch hex key L-wrench (TL-32)
to mount the base as described in this document.

4200-PA installation onto the 4200-MAG-BASE
The 4200-MAG-BASE is available with the 4225-RPM, and is not available for individual purchase.
This information is provided for reference only.
To install the 4200-PA onto the 4200-MAG-BASE:
1. Slide the captive screw assembly onto the bottom of the 4200-PA.
2. Install the 4200-PA onto the base and secure it with the captive screw, as shown in the following figure.

3. Place the base on the probe station platen.
