3 PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS:
3.1 Review and become familiar with entire procedure before beginning Calibration Process.
T.O. 33K3-4-1347-1
Unless otherwise designated, and prior to beginning the Calibration Process,
ensure that all test equipment voltage and/or current outputs are set to zero (0)
or turned off, where applicable. Ensure that all equipment switches are set to
the proper position before making connections or applying power.
3.2 Connect the TI and calibration equipment to a 115 VAC, 60 Hz power source. Set all POWER switches to ON
and allow a 10 minute warm-up period.
3.3 After 10 minute warm-up period run the SELF CAL routine as follows: Press the MENU OFF/EXTENDED
FUNCTIONS button once or twice (two presses are necessary if any menu is presently displayed, one press if no
menu is displayed) to display the EXTENDED FUNCTIONS menu. Press the menu button labeled CAL/DIAG.
Press menu button labeled SELF CAL.
3.4 The SELF CAL routine will take approximately 10 seconds and RUNNING will be displayed in the lower
right corner of the CRT during this time.
3.5 After successful completion of the SELF CAL routine, RUNNING will disappear from the TI CRT and PASS
will be displayed above the SELF CAL menu button label. Press the MENU OFF/EXTENDED FUNCTION
button to return the TI to the control settings in effect before SELF CAL was initiated.
3.6 If SELF CAL routine is not successful, the EXTENDED DIAGNOSTICS menu will be displayed with
accompanying error messages. In this case, repeat SELF CAL routine. If the TI displays the EXTENDED
-
DIAGNOSTICS menu again, refer to service manual for further instructions.
3.6.1 The TI may be calibrated using calibration software CPIN # 88M-F7529A2/SCAL-TOOl-OOA. This will also
require using the F7529A2 Oscilloscope Calibration System. Verify latest version of software, as per
COMPENDIUM 80-l-88 or Q016.-110-WK-GOl.
3.7 Perform the INITIAL SETUP as follows:
NOTE
Select means to press the appropriate front panel button to obtain the stipulated
menu on the CRT screen. Set, when preceded by a menu selection, indicates
the stipulated menu function should be turned ON or OFF by pressing the
appropriate menu button. The function will appear underlined in the menu
when turned ON, not underlined when turned OFF. Control settings not listed
do not affect the procedure.

3.7.5 Use the arrows under ROLL-CHARS to create a front-panel setup label (use FPNL for the label).
3.7.6 Use the up or down arrow switches to select the first letter of the label.
3.7.7 When the first letter is displayed, depress CURSOR <>.
pressing the up/down arrows to select FPNL, then pressing DELETE.

NOTE
Saving the FPNL sequence will cause an error if a FPNL sequence is already
stored. Clear the previous sequence by selecting PRGM, pressing DELETE,
3.7.8 Repeat steps 3.7.6 and 3.7.7 until FPNL is spelled out, then depress the menu SAVE switch.
NOTE
In the next step, Trigger Mode is set back to AUTO LEVEL. (AUTO LEVEL
was initially turned off to make the front-panel changes in the previous steps
faster to set). Throughout the remainder of this procedure, the TI is switched to
AUTO LEVEL when the initial setup is recalled, providing automatic
triggering of displays. If preferred, you can switch to AUTO mode and use
INIT @ 50 and/or the TRIGGER LEVEL control to trigger manually. Where
AUTO mode is the required mode that mode is specified in the procedure.
Occasionally, AUTO LEVEL may fail to find a stable trigger if you connect the
trigger signal to the front panel between autolevel cycles; if so, push INIT @ 50
to obtain the triggered display.
3.7.9 Depressing the menu switch saves the label for the sequence and displays the message SETUP CONTROLS
PUSH PRGM to CONTINUE. Press Trigger MODE and select AUTO LEVEL. DO NOT CHANGE ANY
OTHER FRONT-PANEL SETTINGS AT THIS TIME.
3.7.10 Push PRGM button and then push SAVE SEQ to store the sequence under the label FPNL.
3.7.11 Later in the procedure when instructed to recall the initial Front-Panel setup, perform the following steps:
3.7.11.1 Depress the PRGM to display the main SEQUENCER menu.
3.7.11.2 Depress the RECALL in the main menu to display the menu used for recalling the front-panel setup.
