MSS Astra-Z: Astra-Z Monitoring Software Suite; MSS Astra Pro: Astra Pro Monitoring Software Suite; LT: Astra-942 Laser Tester; LSA: Light and Sound Alerter; Battery: power supply battery.
1 Function
1.1 The siren is intended for warning
people of fire in a secured room using light and sound alerting upon a command from the Astra-Zitadel system control panel.
1.2 Power is supplied to the siren from
two batteries: primary battery LSH 14 (1pcs.) and secondary battery CR123 (1pcs.), or batteries with similar characteristics and construction. Both batteries are included in the delivery set. The siren retains operability if secondary battery is missing or discharged.
1.3 The siren ensures three-color light alerting (red, green, and
blue).

4 Structure
4.1 Structurally siren is designed as a block with a removable
cover, to which a cap is attached. The block contains a piezoelectric sound emitter and a printed circuit board (PCB) with radio elements and batteries (Figure 2).

4.2 Mounted under the cap is a three-color LED indicator of
the light alerting (colors: red, green, and blue).
4.3 Mounted on PCB is a switch, which forms «Detached
from wall» notification when detaching the siren from the wall.
4.4 The siren has the following service LEDs:
- installed on PCB is a white LED to indicate the wireless network status.
- installed under the cap is a red LED to indicate the status of the siren itself and to receive commands from the Astra-942 laser tester.

Notes 1 If «Primary battery failure» notification appears, change both batteries within two months. 2 The «Power failure» notification is processed by the red LED if
both batteries are discharged or if one of the batteries is missing and the second battery is discharged.
3 Upon simultaneous power supply voltage decrease of the main and backup batteries below 2,4 V, the siren ceases operation while retaining LED indication. 4 The siren indicates «Armed/Disarmed» status of partitions to
which it is assigned when pressing «» button on Astra-Z3245 key fob. The key fob must be registered in the network and have user rights for arming/disarming.
6 Pre-Starting Procedure
6.1 After transportation in conditions differing from those of
operation, siren must be kept unpacked for 4 hours in the expected operating conditions.
6.2 Running Siren. Replacing Batteries
WARNING! Lithium-thionyl-chloride batteries have an effect of
«passivation» to provide the possibility of long-term storage. To provide battery normal operation after long-term storage, hold an «activation» procedure.
«Activation» occurs when inserting battery into LSA.
Step-1
Remove the housing cover by removing 3 screws that fasten the cover to the base.
Step-2
Insert primary and secondary batteries with the correct polarity (to replace the battery, remove the old one and after at least 30 seconds insert the new one). The red LED lights up for 1 to 20 seconds. If after 60 seconds the red LED flashes triply every 25 seconds, re-activate the battery by removing it, and after at least 30 seconds reinserting it.
WARNING!
It is strictly forbidden to "activate" SAFT LSH 14 battery by short circuit between the poles of battery or exceed the load current 2 A, as battery is built in safety fuse which irreversibly destroyed in case of overload.
6.3 Registering the Siren in the Wireless Network
Siren registration procedure is required for identification in the wireless network in which it is supposed to operate.
Step-1
According to Astra-Zitadel System Control Panel`s
Operating Manual * perform the following procedure:
1) Install Software ** (MSS Astra-Z, Pconf-Z or MSS Astra
Pro) intended for configuring Control Panel;
2) Create wireless network.
Step-2
Perform steps described in p. 6.2.
Step-3
Make sure alerter issues "No network" notification. Otherwise, perform deletion of the alerter from wireless network in accordance with p.6.4.
Step-4
Switch the control panel to Wireless device registration mode by the method described in the appropriate Astra-Zitadel System Control Panel`s Operating manual*.
Step-5
Initiate siren registration procedure by one of 2 methods: a) using the LT (step-6); b) using the Reg plug and the detach switch (step-7).
