SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
• This appliance is intended for indoor, domestic household use only. It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:
– staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other
working environments; – farm houses; – by clients in hotels, motels and other residential
type environments; – bed and breakfast type environments.
• Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating. Never touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
• This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote­control system.
• If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• Use a sponge, hot water and washing up liquid to clean the cooking plates.
• Use a cloth to clean the body of the appliance.
• This appliance can be used up to an altitude of 4000 metres.

Do
• Read the instructions carefully, common to different versions depending
on the accessories supplied with your appliance, and keep them within reach.
• Before first use remove all packaging materials, stickers and accessories
from the inside and the outside of the appliance.
• Fully unwind the power cord before plugging in the appliance.
• This appliance is designed to function on AC current only. Before using
it for the first time, check that your mains supply voltage matches that indicated on the appliance data plate.
• Any connection error may cause irreversible damage and will invalidate
your guarantee.
• Always plug the appliance into a socket outlet with an earth connection.
• Given the diverse standards in effect, if the appliance is used in a country
other than that in which it is purchased, have it checked by an Approved Service Centre.
• If it is necessary to use an extension lead ensure that it is of suitable
construction and power rating, with an earth connection; take all necessary precautions to prevent anyone tripping over an extension cord.
• If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and
call a doctor if necessary.
• On first use, wash the plates (follow paragraph Cleaning), pour a little
cooking oil onto the plates and wipe with a soft cloth.
• Position the power cord carefully, whether an extension is used or not,
so that guests can move freely around the table without tripping over it.
• Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly
sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
• Always keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
• Ensure that the plates are stable, well positioned and correctly clipped
to the appliance. Only use the plates provided with the appliance or bought from an Approved Service Centre.
• Always use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damaging the cooking
plate.

Do not
• Do not use the appliance outside.
• Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
• Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.
• To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or
below a wall cupboard.
• Never place the appliance directly on a fragile surface (glass table, tablecloth,
varnished furniture, etc.) or on a soft surface such as a tea-towel.
• Never disconnect the plug by pulling on the power cord.
• Inspect the appliance and power cord for signs of wear or damage prior
to connecting to the power supply.
• Do not use your appliance if it does not operate correctly, if it has been
damaged or if the power cord or plug is damaged. To maintain safety, these parts must be replaced by an Approved Service Centre.
• Any intervention other than normal cleaning and maintenance by the
customer must be performed by an Approved Service Centre.
• Never place the appliance under a cupboard attached to a wall or a
shelf or next to inflammable materials such as blinds, curtains or wall hangings.
• Never place the appliance on or near hot or slippery surfaces; the power
cord must never be close to or in contact with hot parts of the appliance, close to a source of heat or resting on sharp edges.
• Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
• Do not use metal utensils on the appliance plates to handle food (knives,
forks).
• Never cut food directly on the plates.
• Do not use metal scourers or scouring powders to avoid damaging the
cooking surface (non-stick coating).
• Do not move the appliance when in use or as long as it is hot; allow it to
cool down completely before you clean and store it.
• Do not carry the appliance by the handle, hinges or metallic flexible
conduit.
• Never run the appliance empty.
• Do not use aluminium foil or other objects between the plate or the grill
and the food being cooked.
• Never handle the grease collection tray when the appliance is hot. If the
grease collection tray becomes full during cooking, allow the appliance to cool before emptying it.
• Do not place the hot plate under water or on a fragile surface.

• To prevent damage to the plates, only use them on the appliance for
which they were designed (e.g., do not place in an oven, on the gas ring or electric hot-plate, etc.).
• To preserve the non-stick properties of the coating, avoid excessive pre-
heating with the appliance empty.
• The plates should never be handled when hot.
• Do not cook food in aluminium foil.
• To avoid spoiling your appliance, do not use flambé recipes in connection
with it at any time.
• Never immerse the appliance, its power cord or plug in water or any
other liquid. They are not dishwasher safe.
ADVICE/INFORMATION
• Thank you for buying this appliance, which is intended for domestic use
only.
• For your safety, this appliance conforms to all applicable standards and
regulations (Low Voltage Directive, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Food Compliant Materials, Environment, …).
• On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the
first few minutes.
• Our company has an ongoing policy of research and development and
may modify these products without prior notice.
• Do not consume foodstuff that comes into contact with the parts
marked with logo.
• Before discarding your appliance, the battery from the timer has to be
removed and disposed of at a local civic waste collection centre or an approved service centre. (According to model)
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Explanatory drawings are at the end of this leaflet.
• Place your appliance on a flat, horizontal, stable and heat-resistant work
surface, away from water splashes.
• Check that the plates are well positioned and clipped into place - Fig 5-8.
• Plug the cord into the mains.
• Turn on the appliance by pressing the switch: the red indicator light will
come on and remain lit, showing that the appliance is powered on.
• The orange indicator light comes on and the appliance starts to heat up.
• Pre-heat the appliance for 5-10 minutes.

• After preheating, the orange indicator light turns off, and the appliance
is ready for use.
• The orange light will blink regularly while the appliance is in use to
indicate that the temperature is being maintained.
1 - GRILL ASSEMBLY (FIG 5-8)
• To fit the lower grill plate: put the plate at an angle, insert the plate
into the two notches located in the middle of the grill, then push the grill plate down to lock into position underneath the metal tabs located either side of the appliance - Fig 5-6.
• When positioning the grill plate ensure the channel for collecting the
juice is aligned with the space allocated for placing the juice collection container - Fig 4.
• Fit the upper grill plate in the same way by holding the plate at an angle
and inserting the upper plate into the two notches located in the middle of the grill - Fig 8.
• Insert the juice collection container into position by fitting it below the
juice collecting channel on the lower grill plate. There is a hard point and a little click can be heard - Fig 4.
2 - BEFORE USE (FIG 9-10)
• Unwind the power cord completely and then position the power cord
safely. Do not allow the power cord to hang over the edge of the worktop. Always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
3 - USING THE GRILL
3.1 - For the grill function (Fig 11-16)
• Press the on/off switch, the switch light and the indicator light turns on
and the appliance will start to heat up - Fig 11.
• As the appliance is not reversible, in grill function always put food on
the lower plate.
• Set the thermostat – there are 4 cooking settings to choose from
depending on the type of food to be cooked - Fig 12.
• Allow the appliance to pre-heat for about 5 to 10 minutes. Pre-heating
is complete when the indicator light goes off - Fig 13.
• Using food tongs, carefully place the food to be cooked onto the lower
grill plate - Fig 14.

• The space between the two grill plates adjusts between 0 cm to 3.5cm,
depending on the size and thickness of the food to be cooked - Fig 15.
• For models with timer, press the button to adjust the time minute by
minute. The selected time is displayed and the countdown begins.
• The timer emits a sound, indicating that the programmed cooking time
has ended (there are 2 sets of several beep sounds).
• To bring back the countdown to 0, press the timer button for 3 seconds.
• The timer will switch off itself.
• The timer is removable. Please note it is not waterproof.
• It is not mandatory to use the timer for cooking, timer and product can
work independently.
3.2 - For the barbecue function (Fig 17-26)
• Remove the timer for an easy use in barbecue position (depending on
model) - Fig 17.
• Grasp the handle and open the grill, pull up firmly and then open the
grill to the 180 degree position. The appliance is now completely open to provide a larger cooking area - Fig 18-21.
• Press the on/off switch, the switch light and the indicator light turns on
and the appliance will start to heat up - Fig 22.
• Set the thermostat – there are 4 cooking settings to choose from
depending on the type of food to be cooked - Fig 23.
• Allow the appliance to pre-heat for about 5 to 10 minutes. Pre-heating
is complete when the indicator light goes off - Fig 24.
• Using food tongs, carefully place the food over the two grill plates -
Fig 25.
