I. Einleitung
1. Beschreibung der TechniSat DVB-PC-TV-Produkreihe
1.1 Beschreibung der PCI-Karten
PCI-Karten sind Erweiterungskarten, die in einen PCI-Slot der
Hauptplatine Ihres Computers eingesetzt werden.
1.2 Beschreibung der PCI-Express-Karten
PCI-Express-Karten sind Erweitungskarten, die in einen PCI-Express-Slot
der Hauptplatine Ihres Computers eingesetzt werden.
1.3 Beschreibung der USB 2.0-Boxen
USB 2.0-Boxen sind externe PC-Geräte, die mittels eines USB 2.0-Anschluss
mit Ihrem Computer verbunden werden.

Die neueste Version nden Sie im Paket mit dem aktuellen Treiber und der Software.

3. Konventionen dieses Benutzerhandbuches
Zur Klarheit verwendet dieses Benutzerhandbuch die folgenden Konventionen:
Navigationspfade werden wie folgt dargestellt:
„Start“ => „Programme“ => „TechniSat DVB“ => „Setup4PC“
Der in diesem Beispiel dargestellte Pfad startet Setup4PC.
II. Installation des DVB-PC-TV-Gerätes
Ihre PCI/PCIe Karte bzw. Ihre USB-Box/-Stick ist diesem Paket beigelegt. Bitte folgen Sie der
Installationsanweisung Schritt für Schritt.
Die Installationsanleitung nden Sie ebenfalls auf der Installations-CD. Weiterhin nden Sie auf
www.technisat.de FAQs, die Ihnen im Problemfall weiterhelfen können.
Der Software-Installationsvorgang erfordert einen Neustart des Systems. Bitte stellen Sie sicher,
dass die Installations-CD nicht aus dem CD-Laufwerk entfernt wird, bis der Installationsvorgang
abgeschlossen ist. Falls die CD nicht automatisch startet, führen Sie bitte die auf der CD bendliche Datei “Start.exe“ aus.
1. Installation der PCI / PCIe-Karte
Vorbereitung: Bevor Sie die PCI/PCIe-Karte einbauen, stellen Sie bitte sicher, dass der
Computer ausgeschaltet und vom Stromnetz getrennt ist. Ein am Stromnetz
angeschlossener Computer während der Installation kann zu Schäden an Ihrem
PC oder DVB-PC-TV Gerät führen.

1.1 Ö nen Sie das Computergehäuse gemäß der Anweisungen Ihrer
PC-Anleitung.
1.2 Suchen Sie einen freien PCI / PCIe-Steckplatz für Ihre PCI/PCIeKarte. Entfernen Sie bitte die PCI/PCle-Slot-Abdeckung. (Abb. 1)

1.3 Bevor Sie die PCI/PCIe-Karte berühren, entladen Sie Ihren Körper
von statischer Elektrizität, indem Sie ein geerdetes Teil wie beispiels-
weise die Metallober äche am Netzteil des Computers berühren.

1.4 Halten Sie die PCI/PCIe-Karte nur an den Außenseiten fest und

schieben Sie sie nun vorsichtig in den Steckplatz, bis Sie an der richtigen Stellen einrastet. TechniSat übernimmt keine Haftung für Schäden, die durch fehlerhafte Installation entstanden sind. (Abb. 3)
1.5 PCIe-Karte: Die PCIe-Karte benötigt einen Stromanschluss zur
Stromversorgung. Wenn Sie die Karte nicht an die Stromversorgung
anschließen, wird das Betriebssystem die PCIe-Karte nicht erkennen

und sie steht Ihnen nicht für die Installation zur Verfügung. (Abb. 4
und 5)
1.6 Nachdem Sie das Computergehäuse wieder geschlossen haben,
schließen Sie Ihr TV-Kabel (Satellit, Kabel oder Antenne), Netzkabel
und alle zuvor getrennten Kabel an. (Abb. 6)

1.7 Schalten Sie nun Ihren Computer an. Windows erkennt eine neue
Hardware und fragt Sie nach einem Treiber für die PCI/PCIe-Karte.
Legen Sie die mitgelieferte Installations-CD ein und starten Sie die
Installationsroutine.

2. Installation der USB-Box / des USB-Sticks

1.1 a Verbinen Sie die USB-Box mittels des mitgelieferten USB-Kabels
mit Ihrem Computer.

und starten Sie die Installationsroutine.
III. Installation der Treiber- und Softwarekomponenten
1. Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel beschreibt als Beispiel die Installation eines SkyStar USB HD unter dem Betriebssystem Windows 7 Ultimate x86. Bei anderen von diesem Produkt unterstützten Betriebssystemen ist der Installationsvorgang ähnlich.
2. Installation der Treiber und Softwarepakete
Mit einem Klick auf die Schaltäche „Installation“ im Autostart-Dialog starten Sie die
Installation von Treiber und Software.

Durch einen Klick auf die Schaltäche “Handbuch“ nden Sie die aktuellen Bedienungshandbücher in
mehreren Sprachen.
Falls dieser Bildschirm nicht erscheint, können Sie ihn manuell durch Ausführen der Datei
“Start.exe“ auf Ihrer Installations-CD starten.
Installation der DVB-PC TV Stars-Anwendungen
Wenn Sie das Setup unter Windows Vista oder Windows 7 starten, erscheint das Fenster
„Benutzerkontensteuerung“ (Abb. 2):

Bestätigen Sie diese Meldung durch Klicken auf „Ja“. Wenn Sie auf „Nein“ klicken, wird der
Setup-Vorgang abgebrochen und die Installation von Treiber und Software wird nicht fortgesetzt.
Zuerst wird das Sprachmenü angezeigt. Wählen Sie hier die gewünschte Sprache (z.B. Deutsch)
und klicken Sie auf „Weiter“. (Abb 3)

Der Installer startet nun die automatische Treiberinstallation für Ihr TechniSat DVB-PC-TV-StarsGerät. Wenn Sie bereits ältere Versionen der TechniSat DVB-PC-TV-Stars-Treiber und -Software
installiert haben, aktualisiert das Setup das System automatisch mit dem neuesten Treiber.
Während der Treiberinstallation önet sich das unten abgebildete Fenster „Windows-Sicherheit“
(Abb. 4)

Klicken Sie auf „Installieren“, um die Treiberinstallation auszuführen.

Nun folgt die Installation der Softwarekomponenten.
Klicken Sie auf „Weiter“, um fortzufahren. (Abb.5)

Lesen Sie die Lizenzvereinbarung für TechniSat DVB-PC-TV-Star und klicken Sie auf „Ja“, wenn Sie
dieser zustimmen. (Abb.6)
Verwenden Sie den voreingestellten Ordner oder klicken Sie auf „Durchsuchen“, um den gewünsch-
ten Zielpfad des Programms auszuwählen. Klicken Sie auf „Weiter“, um fortzufahren. (Abb. 7)

Klicken Sie auf „Weiter“, um fortzufahren. Das Setup installiert nun die Software.
Schließen Sie die Software- und Gerätetreiber-Installation durch Klicken auf „Fertig stellen“ ab
und starten Sie Ihren Computer neu.

3. Manuelle Installation des Treibers
Wenn Sie für Ihre TechniSat DVB-PC TV Stars-Geräte bereits eine vorherige Version des Treibers
bzw. der Software installiert haben, informieren Sie sich unter Punkt III. 3.
Der Hardware-Installationsassistent startet nur, wenn Windows ein neues Gerät erkennt, für
welches noch kein Treiber installiert wurde. Wenn mehrere DVB-PC TV Stars-Geräte an Ihr Sys-
tem angeschlossen sind, önet sich für jedes Gerät der Assistent „Neue Hardware gefunden“.
Sie müssen für jedes Gerät einen eigenen Treiber installieren. Sobald der letzte Gerätetreiber
installiert ist, können Sie mit der Installation der Software beginnen.

Zur Installation der Softwarepakete für Ihre Produkte benötigen Sie Administratorrechte.
Stellen Sie in den „Benutzerkonten“ sicher, dass Sie Administratorrechte besitzen.
Sie können entweder zuerst die Gerätetreiber manuell installieren und danach die Software, oder
die Treiber automatisch durch die Sotware-Installationsroutine installieren lassen. Weniger erfahrenen Benutzern empfehlen wir die automatische Installation der Treiber durch die SoftwareInstallationsroutine.
Windows 7 sucht automatisch zuerst online nach Treibern. Wenn Sie die Installations-CD einlegen,
sucht Windows 7 nach dem richtigen Gerätetreiber für Ihr TechniSat-Gerät und installiert ihn.
Falls bei diesem Vorgang ein Problem auftritt, informieren Sie sich in den FAQ
(häug gestellten Fragen) auf unserer Webseite.
4. Aktualisierung des Treibers
Wenn Sie mehrere TechniSat PCI-, PCI-Express- oder USB-Geräte installiert haben, müssen Sie die
Treiber für jedes einzelne Gerät aktualisieren.
Wenn Sie die Datenempfangsanwendung Server4PC installiert haben, müssen Sie sie nach dem
Systemstart schließen, bevor Sie Ihre Software aktualisieren. Das Server4PC-Programmzeichen
bendet sich in der Windows-Taskleiste.

Starten Sie nun die Softwareinstallation. Der Software-Installationsassistent aktualisiert automatisch die Treiber aller installierten Geräte und das Softwarepaket.
Nun führt die Software-Installationsroutine den nächsten Schritt aus.

TechniSat unterstützt die Bemühungen der Linux-Entwicklungergemeinde und die meisten unserer Produkte werden innerhalb des Video-4-Linux Frameworks unterstützt (www.linuxtv.org).

I. Introduction
1. Description of the TechniSat DVB-PC TV product range
1.1 PCI cards
PCI cards are expansion cards which are inserted into a PCI slot on a
PC's motherboard.
1.2 PCI Express cards
PCI Express cards are expansion cards which are inserted into PCIe slots
on a PC's motherboard.
1.3 USB 2.0 boxes/sticks
USB 2.0 boxes are external PC devices that are connected to a USB port on a PC via a
USB cable. USB sticks are inserted directly into a USB port.

II. Installing the DVB-PC TV device
Please follow these step-by-step installation instructions.
You will also nd the installation instructions on the installation CD and FAQs are provided on
the TechniSat website at www.technisat.com to give additional help in the event of a problem.
The software installation process requires you to restart the system. Please ensure that the
installation CD is not removed from the CD drive until the installation process has been
completed. If the CD does not start automatically, please use the “Start.exe” le on the CD.
1. Installing the PCI/PCIe card
Before you start: Before you install the PCI/PCIe card, please ensure that the computer is
switched o and disconnected from the mains. A computer that is connected
to the mains during installation can cause damage to your PC or DVB-PC TV
product.

1.1 Open the computer housing as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
1.2 Locate a free PCI / PCIe slot for your PCI/PCIe card and remove the
cover plate. (Fig. 1)

1.3 Before touching the PCI/PCIe card, discharge any static electricity
from your body by touching an appropriate earth point. (Fig. 2)
1.4 Only hold the PCI/PCIe card by its outside edges. Insert it rmly
but carefully into the slot until it engages in the correct position.
TechniSat does not accept any liability for damage caused by
incorrect installation. (Fig. 3)

1.5 PCIe card: PCIe card require a separate power source supplied via
cable from the PC power supply and tted to the connector on the
PCIe card. If this connection is not made, the operating system will
not recognise the card.
Therefore the software and drivers will not be installed. (Fig. 4
and 5)

1.6 After you have closed up the computer housing, connect up your TV
cable (satellite, cable or aerial), power cable and any other cables
that were previously disconnected. (Fig. 6)
Switch on your computer. Windows will recognise the new hardware and

ask for a driver for the PCI/PCIe card. Insert the installation CD provided

and start the installation process.

2. Installing the USB box/stick
2.1 a Connect the USB box to your PC using the USB cable.
2.1 b The USB stick should be inserted directly into a USB port on

your PC.
2.2 Connect the supplied power supply to the USB box. The USB stick
does not require a separate power supply as it is powered via the
USB port.
2.3 Connect your TV cable (satellite, cable or aerial) to the USB box or USB

stick. Please note that there is a UHF adaptor supplied with the USB stick
for connection to a household aerial.

Windows will recognise the new hardware and ask you for a driver for the PCI/PCIe card. Insert
the installation CD that has been provided and start the installation process.
III. Installing the driver and software components

As an example, this chapter describes how to install a SkyStar USB HD on a Windows 7 Ultimate
x86 operating system. The installation process is similar for other operating systems supported
by this product.
The latest operating manuals in multiple languages can be accessed by clicking “Manuals” in the
installation screen.
2. Installing the driver and software package
Insert the installation CD. Autostart should open the installation screen (Fig.1)
If the installation screen does not appear, it can be started manually by using “Start.exe” on the
Installation CD.

3. Installing the DVB-PC TV Stars applications
When you start the setup procedure in Windows Vista or Windows 7, the “User Account Control”
window will appear (Fig.2):

Conrm this message by clicking on “Yes”. The setup process will be halted if you click on “No”
and the installation of the drivers and software will be discontinued.
The language menu is displayed rst. Select your preferred language (e.g. English) and click
“Next” to continue. (Fig. 3)

The drivers for your TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star device will now be automatically installed. If you
have already installed older versions of the TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star driver and software, setup
will deinstall the old driver and software and then reboot. After reboot the installation process
of the new driver and software will resume automatically.
During installation of the driver, the “Windows Security” window opens as illustrated below (Fig 4).

Click on “Install” to run the driver installation.

Installation of the software components is now carried out.

Read the licence agreement for the TechniSat DVB-PC TV Star and click “Yes” to accept. (Fig.6)
Use the pre-dened folder or click on “Browse” to specify a destination location for the software
les. Click “Next” to continue. (Fig. 7)

Click “Next” to continue. The setup programme now installs the software. Complete the
software and device driver installation by clicking “Finish” and restarting your computer.

Click on "Install" to run the driver installation.
Installation of the software components is now carried out.
Click on "Next" to continue. (Fig.5)
4. Installing the driver manually
If you have already installed a previous version of the driver or software for your TechniSat
DVB-PC TV Stars device, please refer to Section III. 3.
The Hardware Installation wizard will only start-up if Windows recognises a new device for
which no driver has yet been installed. If there are multiple DVB-PC TV Stars devices connected
to your system, the “Found New Hardware” wizard opens for each device. You will need to
install a separate driver for each device. As soon as the last device driver has been installed, you
can begin installing the software.

You need administrator rights to install the software packages for your products.
Check the “User Accounts” to ensure that you have administrator rights.
You can either manually install the device drivers rst and then the software or let the drivers
be set up automatically by the software installation process. For less experienced users we
recommend installing the drivers automatically via the software installation process.
For DVB-PC TV Stars that are Compatible with Windows 7 ®, the operating system searches
online for the correct device driver so it is important to ensure that there is a broadband
connection. The drivers are then installed automatically and driver updates are received via
Automatic Updates.
If a problem occurs with this process, please refer to the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section
on our website.
5. Updating the driver
If you have installed several TechniSat PCI, PCI Express or USB devices, you will need to update
the drivers for each device separately.

If you have installed the Server4PC data reception application, you will need to close it after
starting the system before you update your software. The Server4PC program icon is located in
the Windows task bar.

Now start the software installation. The Software Installation wizard automatically updates the
drivers for all installed devices and the software package.
The software installation routine will now execute the next step.
6. Linux
TechniSat supports the eorts of the Linux Developer Community and the majority of our
products are supported within the Linux Video-4 framework (www.linuxtv.org).
Please note that TechniSat cannot oer any support or warranty for this software and that
you use it at your own risk.

I. Introduction
1. Description de la gamme de produits TV PC-DVB de TechniSat
1.1 Cartes PCI
Les cartes PCI sont des cartes d’extension à connecter à la carte mère de l’ordinateur
via un port PCI.
1.2 Cartes PCI-Express
Les cartes PCI-Express sont des cartes d’extension à connecter à la carte mère de
l’ordinateur via un port PCI.
1.3 Boîtiers USB 2.0
Les boîtiers USB 2.0 sont des périphériques externes qui se connectent au port USB de
l’ordinateur via un câble USB. Les clés USB sont insérées directement dans le port USB.

3. Conventions du présent manuel utilisateur
Pour plus de clarté, le présent manuel utilisateur utilise les conventions suivantes :

Le chemin représenté dans cet exemple lance l’installation de Setup4PC.
II. Installation de l’appareil TV PC-DVB
Veuillez suivre les consignes d’installation étape par étape du CD d’installation et vous reporter
à la foire aux questions, disponible sur le site, www.technisat.com, pour vous aider en cas de
problème. L’installation du logiciel nécessite de redémarrer le système. Veillez à ne pas retirer
le CD d’installation du lecteur de CD avant la n de l’installation. Si le CD ne démarre pas
automatiquement, veuillez exécuter le chier « Start.exe » se trouvant sur le CD.
1. Installation des cartes PCI/PCIe
Préparation : avant d’installer la carte PCI/PCIe, assurez-vous que l’ordinateur est éteint et
que son câble d’alimentation est débranché. La connexion de l’ordinateur au
réseau électrique lors de l’installation peut entraîner des dommages au niveau
de l’ordinateur ou de l’appareil TV PC-DVB.

1.1 Ouvrez le boîtier de l’ordinateur conformément aux instructions
du fabricant.
1.2 Recherchez un emplacement PCI/PCIe libre pour votre carte PCI/
PCIe et retirer le cache ( gure 1).

1.3 Avant de toucher la carte PCI/PCIe, déchargez votre corps de toute
électricité statique en touchant un objet mis à la terre de manière
adaptée ( gure 2).
1.4 Ne tenez la carte PCI/PCIe que par ses parties extérieures. Poussezla fermement mais délicatement dans l’emplacement réservé à cet

e et jusqu’à ce qu’elle s’enclenche. La société TechniSat ne peut être
tenue responsable des dommages occasionnés par une installation
incorrecte ( gure 3).
1.5 Carte PCIe : la carte PCIe requiert une alimentation électrique
distincte, via un câble entre l’alimentation de l’ordinateur et le
connecteur de la carte PCIe. Si cette connexion n’est pas e ectuée,

le système d’exploitation ne pourra pas reconnaître la carte PCIe. Le
logiciel et les pilotes ne seront donc pas installés ( gures 4 et 5).
1.6 Une fois le boîtier de l’ordinateur fermé, connectez votre câble télé
(satellite, câble ou aérien), le câble d’alimentation et tout autre câble
précédemment déconnecté ( gure 6).

1.7 Démarrez l’ordinateur. Windows détecte un nouveau matériel et

2. Installation du boîtier USB/de la clé USB
2.1 a Raccordez le boîtier USB à votre ordinateur à l’aide du câble
USB fourni.

2.2 Branchez l’alimentation électrique fournie au boîtier USB. La clé USB
ne nécessite pas d’alimentation électrique distincte étant donné
qu’elle est alimentée via le port USB.

2.3 Raccordez votre câble télé (satellite, câble ou aérien) au boîtier USB
ou à la clé USB.
2.4 Windows détecte le nouveau matériel et demande le pilote du produit USB. Insérez le CD
d’installation livré et lancez la procédure d’installation.
III. Installation des composants du pilote et du logiciel
1. Résumé
Ce chapitre décrit l’installation d’un disque dur USB SkyStar sous Windows 7 Ultimate x86.
L’installation est similaire pour les autres systèmes d’exploitation pris en charge par ce produit.

cliquant sur « Manuel » au niveau de l’écran d’installation.
2. Installation du pilote et du logiciel
Insérez le CD d’installation. Le processus de démarrage automatique doit ouvrir l’écran
d’installation (gure 1).
Si l’écran d’installation ne s’ache pas, il peut être lancé manuellement en exécutant le chier
« Start.exe » du CD d’installation.

Si vous démarrez l’installation sous Windows Vista ou Windows 7, la fenêtre suivante apparaît :
« Contrôle de compte d’utilisateur » (gure 2) :

Validez ce message en cliquant sur « Oui ». Si vous cliquez sur « Non », la procédure
d’installation est interrompue et l’installation du pilote et du logiciel est annulée.
Le menu Langues s’ache en premier. Sélectionnez la langue souhaitée (français, par exemple)
et cliquez sur « Suivant » (gure 3).
