1 INPUT
Plug in your shielded instrument cable into the input labelled “Input” when using an instrument with passive pickups or relatively low output level. Instruments with active pickups or onboard preamps plugged into this input will saturate the preamp stage much earlier.
-10 DB
When using a bass guitar with active pickups or basically delivering relatively high output levels we advise you to use the input jack labelled “-10DB”. The input signal will be attenuated by 10 dB. Attenuation allows the “GAIN” control (#3) to be used in a more subtle way by somehow altering the taper of the pot – the “GAIN” control can be brought up to a higher position now.
3 GAIN
This control, along with the “Input” or “-10DB” inputs, adjusts the basic signal level in the valve preamp and thus determines it’s sensitivity and overall tonal characteristics. Turning the Gain clockwise will make the valve preamp slightly compress the signal and eventually ove drive it in a moderate way. Therefore the circuit can do without a CLIP LED since a slightly overdriven bass sound rich in second order harmonics is always welcome.
Do not leave the “VOLUME” control on your instrument set too low, since noise picked up along the cable will become more prominent and thus lower the – otherwise excellent – signal-to noise ratio of the amp.

4-7 Tone Controls
The circuit design of the all-valve tone controls. This fourband equalizer allows for a detailed tailoring of the frequencies with an extraordinary frequency response and excellent signal-to-noise ratio.
4 Bass
The „BASS“ knob controls the raising or lowering of the frequencies around 30 Hz He brings the powerful bass pressure, of this clarity, only a tube preamp can be produced.
5 LO MID
The operating point of the „LO MID“ pot is 200 Hz. At this frequency, the low-mid may to each be raised or lowered
15dB. This controller generates when turning up the right Kick to the bass sound in the band structure further come forward to leave.
6 HI MID
The „HI MID“ knob controls - such as the „LO MID“ also – Control (# 5) – broadband as the „BASS“ control (# 4). He determines the raising or lowering of the upper middle Frequency band of the bass guitar. This band works at 800 Hz with plus minus 15 dB slope. Turning the »HI MID“ control back, we obtain the popular low-middle funk-sound of first quality.
7 TREBLE
The „treble“ control adjusts the frequencies from 8 kHz.

8 MASTER
This is the overall volume control of the RAPTOR. It determines the level at the “SPEAKER OUTPUTS” (#20) as well as the Level of the „LINE OUT POST“ (#17b) and the „DI OUT“ (#18) on the rear panel.
9 BREAK
Before turning on the RAPTOR with the “POWER SWITCH” (#10) please make sure that this “BREAK” switch is in the “up” position. When the amp is in “BREAK” mode the heater is working already in order to heat up the vacuum tubes to the necessary tempera-
ture. It is a good idea to wait at least 30 seconds before turning on the “BREAK” switch as this time lessens the shock on cold tubes, thus pro-longing their life substantially. With the “BREAK” switch in the upward position no audio signal will be processed and heard at the outputs except the “TUNER” (#16). That way you do not have to turn the volume down for silent tuning or when changing instruments – you do without the nasty cling which you usually hear when you unplug the jack. Whenever you do so flip the “BREAK” switch upwards for silent tuning or changeover and then turn it on again. The “BREAK” switch interrupts the signal path at the balanced “DI OUT” (#18) as well. During breaks the amp should be set to standby mode rather than switched off completely.

At the risk of stating the obvious, this heavy-duty rocker switch is used to turn the RAPTOR on and off. Before
you turn the amp on do make sure that the “BREAK” switch is in the “off” position (up). Activating the PO-
WER SWITCH will illuminate the TecAmp logo (#11) on the front panel.

12 POWER RECEPTACLE
Connect the supplied AC power cord to the POWER CONNECTOR (#12). Make sure the Euro plug is firmly inserted in the socket. The other end of the cable should be connected to any standard grounded AC outlet or into a power strip of proper voltage (before you plug in do make sure that the voltage is correct). Just in case you lose the cord provided, the jack accepts a standard 3-prong IEC cord like those found on most professional gear and computers – you can get at any electronics, music or computer store.
Never (!) remove or otherwise attempt to defeat the ground pin of the power cord in order to get rid of a hum induced by a ground loop.
13 VOLTAGE SELECTOR
The RAPTOR features a “VOLTAGE SELECTOR” allowing you to use your amplifi er anywhere in the world just by the flick of a switch. The unit is set to 230 V when we
ship to a country in Europe. Should you wish to use your Raptor in the USA set the “VOLTAGE SELECTOR” to “115 V”.
ATTENTION: Don’t forget to set it back to “230 V” when you return home! TecAmp cannot be made responsible for damages to the unit caused by improper voltage selection. Therefore it is a good idea to always check the “VOLTAGE SELECTOR” before powering up the unit.
14 HI TENSION FUSE
This fuse provides protection against overvoltage the precursor of the Raptor. The value of the fuse is 2 A/slowblow.
15 SERIAL FX LOOP
These two 1/4” jacks are the serial patch points for external signal processing effects. Connect the Jack „SEND“ (# 15a) to the input and the jack „RETURN“ (# 15b) with the output of your effects device.
16 TUNER
This jack is provided for connection to an electronic tuner and is always “live”, even when the Raptor is in “BREAK” (#9) mode. This allows for silent tuning as well as providing a monitor feed which stays hot even when the house mix is muted.
17 LINE OUT
This „LINE OUT PRE MASTER“ jack (#17a) provides a line level signal for connection to a separate power amp, PA mixing console or recording equipment. The volume of the signal is not controlled by the “MASTER” control (#8). Note that the output is muted when the “BREAK” function (#9) is engaged. The „LINE OUT POST MASTER“ jack (# 17b) can connect to an additional power amplifier. The volume of the signal is controlled by the “MASTER” control (#8). Note that the output is muted when the “BREAK” function (#9) is engaged.
18 DI OUT
The RAPTOR supplies a transformer balanced line output signal for connecting to a house mixing board, recording console or external amplifier(s) with balanced inputs. The need for an additional DI box is obsolete. Due to the advanced valve amp circuit design and the use of only the best components available the high sound quality of the DI output makes it the amp of choice in any recording studio. Connect a shielded 3-core mic cable with XLR plugs to the male XLR output (#18). The volume of the signal is controlled by the“MASTER” control (#8). Note that the output is muted when the “BREAK” function (#9) is engaged.
19 GROUND
The RAPTOR provides a ground lift switch for the “DI OUT” (#18), to isolate ground loops in multiple grounding. If you disconnect the wiring to hum with the PA

20 SPEAKER OUTPUT
RAPTOR sports two Neutrik Speakon-Combo connectors type NLJ 2 MD-V that also handle ¼” Jacks. The wiring of the pins is as follows: 1+ = hot, 1- = ground Attention:
Please note that It is essential in the operation of the RAPTOR required a load (speaker) at least one of the two Speakon
®
sockets to connect! This also applies in case that the RAPTOR only for the use of the DI OUT (# 18) is operated.
21 IMPEDANCE
With the impedance selector switch, the impedance values adapted to the connected speakers to the Raptor are. Note: When using two 8 ohm speakers must set the impedance selector to 4 ohms.
When using two 4 ohm cabs, the impedance selector mus set to 2 Ohms. If you use four 8 ohm the impedance selector mus set to 2 Ohms.
Attention! The Raptor has six measurement points and two adjustment controls for bias adjustment for the power tubes. Work on these adjustment knobs should with extreme caution and only by Personnel are made. The value for the bias setting is 50mA per tube.
